The doc called in a steroid for DS1 and his swelling is finally starting to go down a bit. At its worst, his left eye was completely swollen shut. I may post a pic on the sub-board cause this shit is crazy.
On a much funnier note, he's been all about playing Hungry Hungry Hippos today and said that baby bro is a Hungry Hungry Hippo since he's on an every-2-hour schedule today. We're trying to find the humor through the chaos!
I'm soooo sorry! I hope the swelling keeps going down. Why do these crazy things have to happen when we have newborns?!

Right?? I thought of you when we were at the doc yesterday. How is everyone recovering at your house?
I am seriously annoyed with my husband right now. He has been complaining all day about how he was so wound up last night that he couldn't sleep at all, and how he's so so tired. First of all, I haven't had longer than a 2.5 hour stretch of sleep or slept more than 6 hours in an entire day since 5/11, so don't talk to me about tired. And second, you're basically telling me that you were up and awake, but laid in bed instead of coming to take the baby and let me sleep even once!
So then we had to go over to my in-laws house this afternoon since its my MILs birthday. DH needed to run over to his shop to get something his dad needs, so he leaves and comes back, leaving me with his mom. We finally get to leave and it's about 3:30, and I'm complaining since I didn't get any lunch and ask of he wants to stop and grab something. Turns out while he was running to his shop, he stopped and got a sub! So he left me alone with his mom for like 45 minutes (ugh!), ate lunch without even getting me anything, and wasn't even going to tell me, except that I complained and wanted to get food.
So now we need to switch the laundry to the dryer, clean bottles, and it's 7:00 and I still haven't gotten real food (I had a snack) and where is DH? Sleeping!
I'm so sorry. I would be upset. You carried this baby and now it's his turn to step it up and contribute anywhere he can now that there are more things he can help with. I hope he realizes this and makes it up to you!

DS is doing much much better-I think we are over HFM. I'm okay-no more fever but still big gushes of bleeding. If this keeps happening, I will get a sonogram next week. Thanks for asking! Hoping your DS is back to 100% soon!
I had a good day at the pool. I had a couple fairly painful contractions and had an episode of seeing stars right before we left so I think it was a little too much fun in the sun for 38w but I'm still glad I went. Being weightless in the pool was worth it.
woodengirl07, I would rage. He needs a major wake-up call. If he isn't willing to take the initiative, then I think you should plan a few hours for yourself and tell him that he's on duty on x day at x time. You need some time to recharge!
+1 to all this. woodengirl07, you need this time plus for him to shape up and think of you in general! Vent away, that shit is more than annoying.
woodengirl07 I would lose my mind if I were you. But let's be real I'll be in your boat soon I'm sure. These me. Have no brains and I'm so sick of them not functioning on little sleep. How come us moms can do it just fine?? My husband legit doesn't wake up and if I wake him he's grouchy and mumbling and not nice.
We had a good day. Set out to go to brunch but ran into this huge BBQ festival and since it was so early we were able to split up and get in line at 2 places and it was delicious! Then we hit the park and farmers market. I'm exhausted but did get a nap. DD1 crawled up on the couch next to me and fell asleep so I did too. It was absolutely glorious but a little bitter sweet. We then made cookies (her request).
Hospital bags are probably 3/4 packed and I need to do laundry tomorrow for the baby/nursing gear. My doctor told me yesterday that she thinks she will see me at my apt on Friday...she thinks. We shall see.
Thanks ladies! The steroid seems to be helping. I just checked on him after pumping and he already looks so much better. Fingers crossed that he's back to himself in the morning and that we can get an appt with the allergist this week to figure out what's causing it!
txmommy14 since I exclusively pump I measure all of DDs milk and she drinks 2-3 oz per feeding. I let her drink until she stops, like she would on the breast. I asked the pedi on her first appointment how much to feed her because I had no idea how much to give her.
My MIL may drive me crazy sometimes, but she gets ALL the gold stars this weekend. She was comparing M to DH's brother's new baby, who is around 4 months. She likes to have her legs dangling down while you hold her, whereas, as she pointed out, M liked to have his tucked up. Suddenly it clicked that I've been approaching swaddling wrong. Everything I've read talks about how swaddling helps by keeping their hands away from their faces and their arm movements from waking them, so I've been focused on that. But M doesn't really move his arms much and likes his hands free. I swaddled him so his legs had room to move but were folded up a bit and harder to kick free, and he slept for THREE hours straight last night. If this isn't a fluke and helps him sleep better, I might just send MIL flowers.
Boo what a tease. I had a bunch of contractions yesterday evening and night. Some were just a few minutes apart and then it would be about 10 min until the next one. I thought for sure this was it and I just needed to wait until they were all closer together and more consistent. Now nothing. My emotions can't handle this!
Thanks for the info, greysonsmom and vivela! I'll check my BP later today just to be safe.
Also - those of you with NEW newborns. TTMA how much they are sleeping during the day. DS is fussing when he needs to eat, but i have not seen his eyes open all day except for a few seconds. I wasn't worried until my over anxious DH asked if all this sleeping was okay. He's pooping, peeing and eating regularly just constantly sleeping.
Tell me this is what 3 day olds do (and forgive my paranoia)....
It's normal. DD sleeps for hours on end during the day. Visitors rarely get a glimpse of her eyes. In the beginning we even had to wake her for feedings during the day. Then she's bright-eyed and bushy-tailed all night:)

This was me too and so so much pressure that I got severe leg cramps that made me bend over or lean to one side. One even brought me to tears. The exercise ball helped with the leg pains but I thought for sure she was pushing down getting ready and things were going to happen. I was having lower back pain and pretty painful BH contractions. At least I think that's what they were since they didn't do the peak thing the real ones did with DD. I almost went in but it did die down. Maybe we are getting close! It's definitely disappointing!!

To all of you keeping an older LO at home with you and the baby 24/7 - I applaud you. DD has been home with us since Friday and we are all VERY READY for her to go to daycare tomorrow. Thank the Good Lord she is moving up to a great new teacher tomorrow - so I'm sure that might not be the easiest thing for us.
DS' swelling went down considerably overnight and he seems to feel so much better today! He also looks a lot more like himself today. Thank goodness for steroids!
DH and I have had a nice morning! We went out for breakfast and picked up mulch. Our front flower beds are looking very sad and neglected. After he gets home from golfing, he's going to take care of the mulch.
I'm about to head out to meet a friend to try on bridesmaid dresses. She'll be doing the trying on for obvious reasons, but luckily we're the same size so I'll know what to order!
P.S. DH and I DTD last night and I'm irrationally annoyed that I'm not in labor.
