is anyone else's kid now getting upset at daycare drop off? O used to get upset every now and then but now it's at least a 20 minute song and dance before I can sneak away. It makes me feel terrible.
I'm really glad you said this (not glad that O is upset though). At the old daycare, D would rarely cry at drop off. Now every day is hysterics. According to the teacher he is fine a minute after I leave. It breaks my heart. I was starting to wonder if he really hated the new place. Hopefully this is just a passing phase.
I don't have the warm and fuzzies about this place. It seems great, they have a great program on paper, and the people are nice. I'm just used to his old school, where the teachers hugged him every morning, told him they loved him, and overall just cuddled him a lot. I don't see this at the new place and it makes me sad. I know this is me being stupid.
My grandmother showed Olivia how to do Opa! and smack the floor when she's dancing (we're Greek), Olivia does this every time music comes on. Although without her saying Opa! it just looks like Olivia is really getting down. LOL
Well, I'm working from home today like I normally do on Tuesday's and my DS woke up kind of sick, so I let him stay home from daycare. We called my MIA, but she had a Dr appt, so there was really no other option. I'm finding it very difficult to get much done, and I was hoping to prep something for dinner.
Also, I just found out that a lot of people don't use two spaces after a period, they only use one. I feel so old, I've never used just one.
Any dinner ideas for me? I spent $350 on groceries yesterday and I'm still drawing a blank. I am definitely making mashed cauliflower. I got pulled over on the way home from the store yesterday for the first time in my life. Luckily, I didn't get a speeding ticket.
Spaghetti and meatballs. Fajitas, tacos or burritos. Cheeseburgers. Baked chicken.
deeds1017 we did and every other place was either full or really far outside of our budget (like $2500 a month). We are looking at the area around DHs job now.
@clarkbar1013 I found a recipe for pasta with tomatoes that came out really good and was super easy to make.
You need 1 1/2lbs cherry tomatoes halved 3-5 cloves of garlic chopped. A few springs of basil 1 stick margarine/butter spread 1lb Fusilli or other pasta cooked.
Melt the margarine in a skillet Cook the onion till soft Add tomatoes and garlic and cook till soft but still holding their shape (5 minutes or so) add in a few springs of basil and up to 1/4 cup of pasta water
Toss with pasta and serve I sprinkled some diced fresh mozzarella on top so it was like a bruschetta.
How do you guys decide what to cook for the week? I have such a hard time mixing it up without pouring over cookbooks/websites for hours. I find meal planning such a pain in the ass. And it seems like I make the same damn things over and over

I hate meal planning too. I do all the cooking and grocery shopping and I get in ruts too. Lotsa tacos here But for reals, I get ideas at the grocery store or magazines or online. I have a bunch of stuff that I rotate around (not planned out but do what I'm in the mood for/have on hand) and then mix new recipes in here and there. I do lots of doubles and freeze the extras for easy stuff when we are busy. For example, I will cook 2 pounds of turkey taco meat and freeze half immediately. Then on those busy nights I just take it out of the freezer and throw it in the fridge in the morning and reheat when I get home.

I don't really meal plan, but I guess that's part of my problem. My husband is very picky so it's hard to change it up. He's not big on seafood, or pork chops, or steak, or sausage... It's always chicken or ground beef.
Are we married to the same guy? This is one of my problems too. DH is big on salad. Like no meat, just a bowl full of greens and such. Which to me is great once in a while but I can't eat that every night as my only thing.
I didn't plan on it, but then daycare sent home a list with all the kids names on it so I am assuming that is the norm. MIL bought D a box of valentines so I just got fruit snacks and I'm going to give each kid a pack of fruit snacks and a card.
I was wondering about this. I'm not sure what to expect. I was thinking about buying a bunch of those apple sauce "on the go" packets and sending that? I really have no idea. Maybe I'll call to see if they do anything at his age.

I look at what I have meat wise and go from there. Main dishes are the hardest for me, but side dishes I'll do potatoes, or a canned veggie. Pinterest is my go to for quick easy meal recipes. You Can do different variations of meals that are alike but you're not eating the same foods each week. For example, one week do tacos, next week quesadillas, next taco salad or burritos. Or alternate between using chicken and beef for mexican foods.
I have recently started loosely meal planning, meaning I will plan them out for the week but if I switch days then that's ok. Each week I will do a mexican, an italian, and some sort of pizza dish wether it be pizza, calzones, you get the picture.

I use pinterest a lot for recipes and stuff. I make a list or see what we already have and then decide on stuff to make. I try to mix it up, but it is hard. Also, some nights I have plans to make a nice huge dinner, and DS wants to act like a butthead, so it ends up being quick and easy. Here is what I tentatively have planned for this week.
Tonight: Rueben casserole and a big ass salad with a shit ton of veggies. Wednesday: Stir Fry to use some of the veggies again and I will prob toss in lo-mein noodles. I will decide on chicken or beef tonight and get it out of the freezer to thaw it. Thursday: Boiled shrimp with garlic and lemon, little baby red potatoes with garlic and parsley, and prob roasted broccoli. Friday: Home made pizza or tacos Saturday: Pierogies and edamame, maybe chicken apple sausages for DH. Sunday: Cheese ravioli's with vodka sauce and garlic bread.
I try to stick with a meat or seafood, then add a carb and a big side of veggies.
deeds1017 I just got the medium sized heart shaped boxes of choc for the teachers. Cvs had them for $4. Last year I got mason jars and filled them with the valentines m&ms but that turned out to be really expensive as I severely underestimate how many m&ms would go into a jar.

I took DD into the after hours clinic last night for our THIRD doctor visit in a week. We got a new prescription for a different antibiotic. Her fever is still high, 100.5 ON alternating Tylenol and ibuprofen but they are "not worried" about the fever but about her blood oxygen levels which are "low but not too low"
This has been a nightmare. I just want my baby to feel better. Something is going on, she's been sick for a week now and no one has figured it out. Hoping this new/different antibiotic helps.
lia1303, Congrats on finding an avatar that is the polar opposite of your Death Care Bear! LOL Re: meal planning, I hate it too because my H is such a picky eater. I have maybe 1.5 weeks' worth of dinners in my repertoire that he'll eat. Many times I make enough to get another serving for leftovers the next night (just for him, while I have a salad or something else that he finds offensive). We also get meal boxes from HelloFresh, which are helpful because that's 3 fewer meals I have to come up with every week, and even if he doesn't like one I can usually tweak it a bit so H will eat it. And then, of course, there are still nights where we order pizza, or have cereal, or grilled cheese sandwiches, etc.
deeds1017, clarkebar1013 At first I was very against using one space because I'm kind of old-school about grammar/formatting, but I got used to it, and now I like that it saves keystrokes. (I'll always be a stickler for the Oxford/serial comma, though!)

I'm so sorry! I hope she starts feeling better soon, and that you can get some peace of mind. Please keep us updated on how she's doing!
You mean the chicken sausage thingies? I did buy two packets, I don't remember if they were on sale or not though.
Also, I am not a huge fan of sweets, but I did buy the limited time Red Velvet Oreos and damnnnnnnn are they good. UGH.
I've been skipping the cookie aisle during my grocery store trip in hopes of shrinking my butt. I'm normally an Oreo purist, but I have a weak spot for red velvet, so I wanted to try these.
