Whoever made my last schedule sucks BTW. I go from working a 12 hour (haha yeah right! ) day shift one day and the very next day I'm supposed to work a night shift. I might die that night. *send me all the coffee! * *I'm forever grateful that we have a 24 hour Starbucks in house! They will get all of my monies that night!*
So my older daughter scared me so badly I almost peed for real tonight! I was in the basement moving laundry around and I came out of the laundry room and just glanced at the stairs and saw her standing there (she was quietly reading Narnia when I went down to move the laundry so I didn't expect anyone to be there), and she was wearing her pretty yet old fashioned nightgown and for a split second it reminded me of a ghost. I nearly freaked out. She thought it was hilarious that she scared without even trying. Probably shouldn't have watched this week's Castle when my nerves were already frazzled.
Is anyone doing anything special for their DH or SO for Valentine's day? I sort of want to do something for him, but do not have much to spend on him. Any ideas?

Eta words
I don't think so. I got him a card and his favorite candy bar. That's probably it. We don't really do Valentine's Day and plus this year we will have SD so it kind of kills any romantic plans. She did request we go to Benihanas for dinner so at least I don't have to cook.
I think that would be awesome if you can get her out of the house long enough to set up. That way after the surprise, she can freshen up and feel ready to party. My mom was so pissed when we threw her a surprise party because she didn't feel dressed up enough to be the center of attention.

ooo! good point! I figured if we have it at her house it's big enough to have it indoor/outdoor and it's more fun and less formal, but then I didn't know if it wouldn't be special enough.
If you don't have a Roomba in your life you need one STAT! I pretty much never vacuum unless I have to do the stairs. It's definitely my favorite Christmas gift from this year!
I felt like such a jerk last night. I knew Declan's shoes were getting a little snug so we took him to stride right to get measured. Well apparently his foot grew a lot. He was wearing a 5, but his feet measured 6 and 6.5 and should be wearing a 7. Poor kid has been getting his toes squished. The lady at the store made me feel like such an asshole. Save the attitude lady and just ring me up for my kid's over priced sneakers. The last time we went the woman said we should get him sized every 3-4 months. This lady looked at me like I said every 4 years and informed me that I should be measuring them every month since children this young grow rapidly. Fuck you very much lady I already feel bad.

lia1303 OMG it's the bomb.com! I was vacuuming my wood floors and wool rug all.the time and still had dog fur and wool fibers galore! Now I don't have dog fur tumble weed AND I can sit on my wool rug in black pants and not be covered in wool fibers and dog hair!
Ohh poor baby. D has been tripping all over the place too. I just thought he inherited my clumsy gene. I saw that imprint on his old pair and I thought how stupid, I can't see the lines once his foot is in the shoe. I never even thought it would come out. Ummm, duh.

OMG! Guess what! Stride Rite's soles are removable. Not only that, the soles are designed to take an imprint of your kid's foot. On the sole, there is a line that tells you once your kid's toe gets to this point, he/she needs new shoes. Like this:
Guess how i found this out? Olivia had been tripping a lot. At school, she went flying and cut her head open on a high chair. I checked her shoes recently and they seemed fine. We were in the mall and stopped at stride rite. I mentioned how the soles of her shoes had been falling out even from the beginning, and that's when they told me about the insole! They said if you notice your kid is falling a lot that's also an indication. They then showed me Olivia's and sure enough she was past the line. I said well, this is a great feature I wish you all had told me about it when I bought her shoes to save her from cracking her head open!
I had noticed this on dd's first pair of stride rites. It is an awesome feature but they don't tell you about it. My guess is so they make you go into the store which makes you look at new product. We then got dd a pair of adidas and they have this feature too.
I just worked out and will be super sore tomorrow. Nap question for you all. Dd has only taken one nap, besides when she was a nb and slept all the time. Anyways, she had a spell where she was getting up 1 to 2 times a night and it was almost like clockwork, 1030 to 11 came the next day she was ready for a nap. She is now sleeping all night again (pretty much fingers crossed) and recently she has been fighting naps when 1030,11 comes. Does this mean I should push her naps back? Is she just not ready to go back to bed again? I mean, obviously you don't know my dd like I do, but would you take this as a sign she isn't ready for a nap that early?
I'm sorta here but not really. I've been swamped lately and then DD1 had a 103* fever and ear pain last night. I put some warmed EVOO in her ear and 20min later she said it was all better and has not complained about ear pain since then. But she keeps whining that she doesn't feel good.
We *just* got over being sick last week. Last week wasn't too bad- hopefully this passes quickly.

DD used to go down for a nap around 10 and then again around 2ish. In hte past couple of months, she's been taking one nap around 12 at daycare. sometimes, she comes home tired and ready for a nap (around 5) so i asked daycare to try and put her down for a nap around 10:30 on days where she seems tired. I don't think it has to be only one or only two naps, but if your DD doesnt seem ready for a nap one day push it back. Eventually, one nap will become routine. Our pediatrician said around this time is where they start to transition to one nap.
DS transitioned around 18 months. I say push it back if she is not tired yet, and depending on how long she sleeps for the first nap either do another nap later (as long as it won't mess with bedtime) or just do an early bedtime.
I have always said that once you learn their game, the rules change!

DS always used to nap at 11. He started fighting it at home on the weekends but daycare said they didn't have an issue, so I just struggled to keep him to that schedule. The new daycare he is in now doesn't do nap time until 1pm and he has taken to it really well and follows that at home too. It hasn't messed with bedtime so I think this is his new normal. I would say push it back and see how bedtimes go.
I bought the red velvet Oreos today before work. I talked H into driving Cam into the office so I could stop at Pearle Vision to get my glasses adjusted, and I also made a quick stop at Walmart to get Cam a new pair of shoes. (I also acquired a bag of Dove dark chocolate covered cherries and 4 sets of PJs for Cam that were on clearance...woohoo!)
They also had the birthday cake ones that I keep seeing mentioned, but I can never remember whether it's the chocolate or "golden" cookie version that's better. Survey says...?
Guise, somehow I suddenly started liking raw red onion. I've always hated raw onion, but then one of our HelloFresh meals included a fresh salsa made from tomato, onion, and avocado, and I couldn't get enough of that! Then I ordered onion in my salad today for the first time EVER. I feel like it's so weird because I'm 33 and still getting over random childhood food aversions.
That is probably way too much excitement over this.

Why is the board so slow today? Are you ladies out being productive?
Noooope. I'm sitting here in the office doing nothing while Cam alternates between napping on me and the floor. Actually, I'm trying not to eat the whole bag of the aforementioned Dove cherries, too.
I also just bought 2 pairs of shoes because they were BOGOF. I JUST said last week that I needed to stop with the frivolous spending. WTF Wednesday, self?!
