runningmommy519 I'm have the same problem - we have so many toys from DD that we don't need anything. I don't have any little people anything tho. Maybe that's something they could both like?
I don't even know what to tell people to get him when they ask.
I know H is going to want to go all out with BUY ALL THE TOYS and I'm going to have to reign it in like, hey, let's not turn our house into a giant toy box.

I wanted to get a play kitchen because I love cooking so much and ds helps me cook a lot and would like it too, but DH feels like it's too "women's roles". We don't actually need anything for her at this point. Maybe a bookshelf for her room?
C is getting an anywhere chair from my parents because she already crawls all over her older brother's chair. We got the Shera one so it's soft and fluffy just like J's, but a different color.
We ordered her the super soft dream blanket from A&A for her. J is still using his as his primary blanket in bed all year round, and we're hoping she'll enjoy using it just as much.
We're getting her an anywhere chair, same as what we got DD1. We do not need more toys. My dad is getting a play kitchen but it will be for both girls' birthdays (DD1 turns 3 in Sept and LOVES all her friend's play kitchens). I've asked my mom to get her a quilted backpack with her name embroidered on it, mostly bc DD1 has one and she'll need a bag this fall when she starts mother's day out.

Some days my DS plays with the kitchen more than DD. He loves pushing the buttons and climbing up on the stove door. I bet both your kids would love the kitchen.

Me too! I'm trying to convince DH that we need one haha. My friend has one and DD was super interested in it. Also ds always "makes me lunch" with the one at the library and he likes it too. Seems like it would get a lot of use from both of them.

tuscanlatte, my sister and I are making a play kitchen for my nephew who is turning (sister's son)! Everyone can love to cook!
Honestly, I probably won't get Poppy anything. We're having a party. I know she'll get a ton of stuff (probably lots of clothes) from my mom and sister and probably some other family. But the reality is her favorite toys are a hand me down walker from my sister, a stuffed kitty a friend/student of mine made and a giant oatmeal box she uses as a drum. Maybe I will make some sort of keepsake thing for her.

tuscanlatte I say start looking at kitchens There are many that don't look 'girly'. And plus, it could be for YD's birthday that YS just happens to get lots of use out of too! This is the one we bought.
DF says he wants to make E a wagon. I would prefer just to buy her a nice wagon but he really gets into this "Something to pass down" legacy thing.
I am really hoping that he just runs out of time so I can get her a nice pretty one...
I'm the worst.
My BF was like this for his god daughters first birthday. He made her a rocking horse. It never built anything before and it turned out really good - def not profession so you could tell it was homemade. She's 7 now and she still treasures it.
It could mean a lot to him. Maybe have a second gift in case he runs out of time or somethjng. But I think the gesture is incredibly sweet.
I don't think we're getting A anything. We're doing a small party and she'll get too many gifts from the grandparents.
Similar to th3stryck3r 's DD, A's current favorite toy is an empty coffee bean tea tin. She puts things inside and tries to put the lid back on. I am making an amazon wish list with small suggestions for anyone who asks just to have somewhere to point them.
I think for age 2 we'll do a more traditional birthday with gifts. I feel like she'll understand it more then.
I'm not getting w anything I don't think but I did make a list in case anyone asked with lots of books and Melissa and Doug wooden toys (shape sorters, hammers, puzzles, etc). Eta: the list is actually my amazon wish list for him so it was already made. And also, after reading this thread in may get him the 4 in 1 trike....hmmm.

I was thinking about maybe one of those ball pits like ampaints has for M. We will see! We definitely don't need anything. Like anything! We have a steady stream of hand me down everything! (clothes, toys, shoes etc.). Probably will make him a birthday t-shirt. He can open that! Lol
Me: 39 DH: 39 DS1 born Sept 1999 Married Nov 2010 TTC 2010 2011 BFP ended in ectopic RE Aug 2014. Unexplained infertility Sept 2014-Dec 2014 fermera/IUI/TI BFN's
August 16, 2015 baby Boy M is born and our hearts melt!
packmomma we have many Melissa and Doug wooden toy sets- stacking blocks, different trucks and cars, a clock, puzzles. They're awesome! Both kids love them and they really are durable despite both kids chewing on them and throwing them around. Highly recommend!
RandomName, ampaints, He works on cars a lot and is pretty good with his hands. He could probably pull it off and have it be nice, I'm just a snobby horrible person.
She has everything though and even though we are saying no gifts for her party, I'm sure she will be showered in gifts. I think a lot of it is that I really like being in control. I want to research all of the wagons and choose what one I think would be best. I need to let go and let Eric.
