I didn't know people had so many feels. This thread makes me want to go back and read the books again. Also I ordered the extra books JKR has written because of you guys. I've never been on the pottermore site.

This is me today too. I read each of them as they were released but that's it, so my memory is pretty fuzzy. I was 29 when I started reading them, so it's not like friends were always talking about it.

I read the first book when I was an 8th grader. Then read each book as they came out. Harry Potter has been a huge part of my life. I have lost track of how many times I have read the series. I love reading threads like this, I always learn something new or remember a part I have forgotten.

The movies are alright, but I prefer the books by far!

I definitely agree with that one. Especially because it involves the "You have your mother's eyes" sentiment, which is jacked up in multiple ways in the movies,

I have so many Harry Potter feels. I'll try to read and contribute if I get the time today.

My sister got me the illustrated SS for Christmas last year and I cried when I opened it. The illustrations are so lovely. I can't wait for DD to be old enough to read it to her.

They tried!!! Daniel Radcliffe was terribly allergic to the colored contacts so they abandoned them.

I too would like to go back and re-read them. I read the series twice, once as I was growing up as they came out and once towards the end of college, so it's time to read them again.
I worked at a bookstore in college and we had a Harry Potter and the DH Part 2 release party at midnight the day it came out. It was fantastic.

Ron's were the most jarring but as you can see I'm president of his fan club so I'm fine with it

Yeah, that long hair did him no favors. Maybe he was going for the twins' look but didn't realize he had a totally different texture.

They do seem to learn things with a different emphasis than we do.

About 12 years ago, Neil Gaiman wrote a really great version of the Marvel universe set in colonial U.S. Like earliest Pilgrim type days. It was a miniseries of 12 monthly issues and people went nuts trying to figure out who the female lead was supposed to be. Turns out she was based quite blatantly on a real person but somehow people in England were more familiar with her than over here. So Gaiman thought everyone would recognize her and pretty much no one did.

I really don't like the movies. I feel like they turned most of the characters into cartoony caricatures. I especially disliked Arthur weakly and... Snape. My least favorite part of all the movies is when Snape says he is the half blood prince because I felt it was such an awful and inauthentic delivery. I know, I know, Alan Rickman is everyone's hero, but he was so NOT Snape to me... there was nothing about his portrayal that was similar to the books at all.
Ron was probably my favorite in the movies, but I mostly dislike the casting/directing.

Haven't read all the replies yet, so sorry this is been covered already. I agree with the above. My UO was going to be that it seemed like toward the end JKR was reading a lot of fan websites and discussions that focused on romantic pairings and decided she needed to definitively answer all the possible "who ended up with who" questions. It was the least interesting parts of the later books for me.

Also, Sirius + Lupin for lyfe.

I've been in and out love titting today. I love Dobby, Kreacher, and Hagrid, but my favorite has to be Neville. I fell in love with the character, and his progression from the first to the last book is amazing. I was hoping we would discover that it was him all along who would defeat Voldemort and not Harry.
