I'd bet the pulling out the shunt thing is a fairly common trick these babies pull - especially since they warned you about it ahead of time.
I'm still sorry your child is already uncooperative! Hopefully the draining continues. I wish things were easier for you and you don't have to undergo the additional stress and procedure again. I may not be able to check in on Monday, so just know I'll be thinking about you guys!

Exactly... I was hoping we'd at least make it to Monday before hearing something like that... wishful thinking. 2 days.... and it might not have lasted even that long, we'll never know!
It's so frustrating! I forgot to ask her yesterday: I wonder how many times we can puncture my uterus for this particular procedure before this is an issue... the 1st procedure was just a big needle. This time I had a 1/4" cut in my belly.... I don't want to think about going through this whole ordeal multiple times!

I'm sorry.
The whole thing sucks.
And really, it probably doesn't matter if it's a needle or a cut - it sucks.

Bumping in the hopes of an update from trixi282. I was on airplanes all day yesterday, but I checked in as soon as I got home last night just to see how things went.

Thanks for thinking of me Lady!
I was slammed yesterday at work, but I did have another appointment yesterday morning.
U/S yesterday show that from Thursday it has grown again, at a moderate rate. Not as slow as we hoped, but not so fast that she’s highly concerned. But based on the measurements she’s still being cautious, so I go back in again on Thursday afternoon (love these last minute appointments!) and now, we are tentatively planning to have to do this lovely shunt procedure again on Friday.
I’m not on the schedule yet, although I was tempted to just ask her to schedule it, because if it’s scheduled then it won’t need to happen, right?! (wishful thinking) but also because that last minute scheduling gets me crappy, crappy times in the OR!
I’ll keep you all posted on the weekly saga of Nugget.
I am so sorry you're in constant limbo. It seems like everything is right down the middle line and has been from the start.
This completely! It is a week by week, but sometimes a day by day type of thing, which can be so frustrating. I hate not knowing and not personally being able to do anything. I am just a vessel.
Luckily my work is very accommodating and flexible, and I can adjust my schedule on an as-needed basis right now. Otherwise all of these appointments and procedures at the last minute could be a problem quickly!
Testing results came in from the fluid they extracted during the thoracentesis procedure 2 weeks ago!! The genetic counselor called with the results, since although it's not a genetic defect, she was involved since our first appt (University you know... always collecting data).
The chromosomal testing all came back normal, so we now know that we don't have to worry about any additional issues in that aspect.
She also said that the AFP (Alpha Fetal Protein) that they tested for came back within the normal range for this stage of development. They were looking for levels that were high to allude to a Teratoma. There's no set number that says yes/no for Teratoma, but the levels would have been elevated, so she said that since we're in the normal range, her take on the numbers is that it's very unlikely that we are dealing with a Teratoma. She is almost certain that the solid portion of the mass is the BPS that the MFM Doc suspected.
She said MFM Doc can tell us more on Thursday since she's the real expert, but that she was happy with the results.
Overall this is good news, and I'm happy that we're getting some positive news along the way!
