bocaburger has been absent from today's thread. Are we on BocaBaby watch?!?
Nope! I'm here. Babies have shown no desire to come out yet. Thanks for noticing my absence though, it makes me feel special! :-)
My parents were here this weekend and tonight we've been working hard: setting up baby stuff, cleaning, boxing stuff for storage, reorganizing the kitchen. I think we've made a lot of progress. Tonight I have to put together the swing and the stroller. Tomorrow we're installing the carseats. Apparently scheduling the induction (17 days!) finally lit a fire under our butts.
We still don't have a name, so I am browsing the Tiny Prints birth announcements for inspiration. So many cute babies!!!
That's such a smart idea!
I'm now doing the same thing.
I think we've decided on Emily. Not sure on a middle name. Maybe Marie. Cecelia. Olivia. Making my head spin.
My DD is Bailey and my SD is Lilliana (but Lilli for short). I really like Emily but I'm wondering if it's too much with the "lee"s
ETA- we're team green and still completely clueless on boys names. I told DH if he can't think of something else, we're naming him Chris (DH's name). I really like Christopher, he's meh on the idea.

Our taste in names is very similar. I think Emily sounds great with your other names!
Thanks to all you fellow mamas with frustrating kids. I wish my girl would behave in public... we get about 3 minutes before she decides to run off or melt down or something. And the extra patuent SO, yup I have that one too. He works most of her waking hours, so the little bit of time he spends with her is super easy for them both.
Like... 11:45 last night, and she had been fighting me for 2 hours and he comes into the bedroom. She of course pops up and bounces around for daddy attention. I could have killed him, I was so mad. And when I left her in bed and told her to stay put and go to sleep, and we left the room, and she started crying about it, he wouldn't just leave her to calm herself down and pass out already. I rarely advocate for just letting kids cry, but I was so done.
So then guess who had to lay back down with her. I guarantee it was another hour til she finally slept. And then was up at 9:30. I decided after that whole crappy mess that she just doesn't get naps anymore. Which means I don't, either.
Thanks for letting me vent. I am just trying to keep up on sleep as much as possible before the newborn catnaps need to happen. Interruptions in my routine make me so angry.

Huge hugs!! We dropped naps for DD who was 2 in March, and it was a really good decision for us. She is much happier and actually goes to bed at bed time without a fight which makes me a very happy mom lol

Trouble is, DD does seem to do better on certain days with a nap, or we get a megabeast child for a few hours before bed. Though, thinking about it, it isn't worse than her recent behavior. Sigh. I am just tired of the fights. Augh... like just now falling off the couch headfirst because she gets up to jump and this time I didn't stop her in time. /headdesk

Oh I can't even imagine! I'm sorry hopefully it's just a phase. Sending you lots of hugs and commiseration tho

venyia S1 dropped naps around two. I was also tired of the fight. I don't have good suggestions for the days when he still needed one and was miserable. We switched to quiet time instead and occasionally he will fall asleep anyway. It's rare now at four but it does happen. He would still nap if he slept in my bed with me. Not sure if that would work for you. You sAid you nap too. Is it together?
Overall dropping naps made for a more consistent day for him and a better bedtime routine.

Hugs. That's such a tough thing to go through.
We love quiet time at our house. DD1 loves night sleep and will only nap if needed.
DD2 is going to be much harder because she loves nap sleep and will nap at the expense of night sleep. Not sure yet what we will do when she is done napping. Wing it as usual.
My temper is getting shorter lately and I am starting to feel like a bad mom because of course my toddler I spend all my time with keeps getting the short end of it. She is pushing boundaries and having defiance issues (all totally normal for the age group of course) but I get frustrated with her and she feeds off my moods, I think, so by the end of the day I am feeling angry and frayed. Hell, it is only midday and I am over today already.
Yep, here too! My 4-year old has suddenly gotten really defiant, and I have not been dealing with it well at all. Plus our time has been especially unstructured, and the heat index is around 116 lately. We're just a mess.
Same here. I can tell my kids know something is up. DS2 is being extra snuggly but I'm pretty sure DS1 hates me

Dinner out last night was so nice! It had been forever since we went out alone. We were actually trying to figure it out. And we think it may have been in January. Anyway it was much needed, and i am not sore like i expected from sitting! Major win!

We're heading to the beach today. I'm a bit nervous since it's just me and B. I wanted to leave by 8 but DH is still sleeping, I still need to shower, and B is taking forever to eat.
