My grandpa just passed away. I was not close with him at all, but still feel guilty for not feeling as sad as I should. I am more sad for my mother, who is a mess right now. Has anyone else ever dealt with these kinds of feelings?
When my stepdad's mom passed away, the only time I teared up was when my step grandpa was crying. She was a mean old lady, but he was a sweetie. You don't need to feel guilty about not being terribly sad for someone you didn't really know. Just be supportive of your mom!
A few weeks ago at post-natal yoga (super chill, we bring our babies), I met a new mom who had just moved to the area, had a newborn, and didn't know anyone. I friended her on Facebook, and today she messaged me to ask me about pumping. So tomorrow after work, I'm going over to her house to show her how to use it! It feels nice being asked advice

Yes! When my dads dad passed everyone was so sad, but I didn't really have many feels. I wasn't very close to him and he was an awful drunk, but I felt so bad for my aunts, they were crushed.
I didn't really have any feels about my dad's parents' deaths. We weren't close, they lived in MI and we lived in FL, plus I thought they had pretty long lives for both smoking heavily. It bothered my dad a lot but... didn't get him to quit smoking...
I'll feel worse when my mom's parents die because we're much closer but both have had pretty great lives. Death just doesn't bother me, especially for older people who have really been able to take advantage of life like my grandparents have. I'm happy to have whatever time we have left together.
We don't pay taxes to the country/city we live in when abroad. So we get to submit all our receipts (kind of annoying, it was a lot easier in Manila) quarterly to get back the 8-16% we pay on everything aside from groceries. Last night I went out to dinner with my girlfriends and they decided that I got the receipt which means from that one alone I'll get back $12!
FFThC: I rarely feel all that sad when old people die. Like, if you're 80+ and you croak? You've lived a great and long life. My FIL's mom passed away this past fall... She was 88, beat pancreatic cancer a decade ago, had traveled the world, had children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. It was her time to go. I was sorry that her kids lost their mom, etc. But I wasn't sad that she died. Death is certainly not the worst thing that can happen to a person.
For me, it's more about never being able to see that person again. I don't really believe in an afterlife, so when someone dies, that's it, the end.
Death is certainly not the worst thing that can happen to a person.
I don't get what you mean here... Do you mean because their life continues in Heaven? Because I kind of feel like death is literally the worst thing that can happen to you in life, but I do believe in continuing on in some other capacity in Heaven.

IMO suffering is worth than death.
I agree with this.
My MIL passed away from cancer 6 years ago. I loved her like crazy and hated seeing her so sick. She hated being so sick and losing so much dignity. She would have been horrified to know how things were at the end. She was suffering so much (I won't go in to details but let's say your waste is meant to come out your tail end, not your top end). Although we loved her and certainly never wanted to say goodbye, we were relieved when she finally passed.

+1. I don't believe in Heaven but I'd rather not suffer and drag out the inevitable, it's hard on everyone when someone is clearly suffering.
OMG I love that DS is becoming more and more interactive! He has been grabbing at things, holding them, kind of examining them. I have been letting him fall asleep in the swing with a small receiving blanket, which he cuddles with/holds (only during the day in the swing where I can supervise it). So freaking cute!
@ismellbooks he fell asleep in the car in a grocery store parking lot?! Like, how??? If I turned off my car it would become so hot and humid within minutes.
And also, why? Never have I ever pulled into a grocery store parking lot and been like "I'm going to close my eyes real quick."

I'm as confused as you are. He is a car napper, which I think is strange. He'll occasionally go to his car at work and snooze for 20 minutes. But at Wegmans?! I mean... I don't get it.
My husband is a car napper too. If he gets somewhere early or DD falls asleep before he arrives at home or a destination he might nap in the car too. But he wouldn't pull in somewhere just nap. And especially not a grocery store???

I'm convinced my 3 year old is pooing on demand. This is the 4th time that I've just got LO asleep and she's then told me she needs a nappy change! Because LO only sleeps on me it means I'm screwed. I either wake him or leave her. I'm sure she knows what she's doing.
This just pushes the point that I need to get her toilet trained and LO napping in his crib!

I'm right there with you...nothing more embarrassing then going to the urgent care for hemorrhoids.
Why did you go to urgent care for hemorrhoids?
I was in so much pain. I called my Drs office and they said I needed prescription meds because the over the counter stuff wasn't working. They could get me in for several days and there was no way I was waiting that long! So I waited for two hours for the dr to be like yup you have a hemorrhoid, here's a prescription.

Ugh mine hurt so bad too! Did the doctor have to ummmm... Examine? Or he just took your word for it?

Huh. I didn't know they could get that bad. I've had them probably 6 times, and they usually just itch.

TMI alert:
This bastard is apparently in an unfortunate location of not quite internal and not quite external, which makes it harder to treat. Haha

There was an examination...and a discussion before hand about it potentially being thrombosed (?) and needing to be cut open! Yikes! I was terrified! But thankfully it was not!

Just got home from Target to buy diapers (thanks kendylouwho) and pacifiers. Came home with diapers, pacifiers, vitamins, laundry detergent, glade plug-ins, two wicker baskets, changing table cover, sleep sack, plastic storage container, and a copy of the new "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child."

We cancelled our plans to go to the zoo today so we could catch up on things. I got 2 jars of jam made and a pound of green beans from the garden frozen but didn't do anything else on my list. Maybe next weekend?
Last night we had hours of severe thunderstorms which kept waking me up and today is going to by disgusting hot and humid again. I am so ready for the winter.
So nice to have friends with babies close in age to our LO. My maid of honor had her baby in January and now my H's best man had his little guy this week. So 3 babies in an 8 month span!
My BFF and I had our babies within a day of each other - my DS1 and her #2. They were both boys. We have pictures of them up in the hospital in their little bassinets next to each other. So fun!!
DH & DD1 are going to a park today and will be gone for at least 4.5 hours, probably close to 5. LO just went for a nap so, screw the pile of kids toys on the floor... I'm watching a movie and drinking my coffee in peace.

Hello! We have had a crazy weekend. My sister got married Friday and we had a couples shower for friends yesterday (ugh). We are just getting home from brunch now where I drank too much beer.
