Protein is offered at every meal. If he doesn't eat it, I push milk because it is protein rich.
2-3 baths per week. He is a fairly neat eater and hardly ever puts it in his fluffy golden locks.
The tv is on a lot but he doesn't always pay attention. He dances to music and will stop playing to look if he hears any instruments. He'll sit through Daniel Tiger (it's the only time I can cut his nails!) And will snuggle through most of a Mickey Mouse or Goldie and Bear. I use this to my advantage to make dinner as well.
Is this where I confess I didn't know how much she paid attention to the background tv until the other day when we were watching trampolining and someone fell and she said uh-oh (which is what we've taught her to say when she falls)? She was reading books!

erbear its so cute but so scary also! Like the first time J started clapping during on screen applause I was watching Scandal.. def made me stop and think what else she might be absorbing from that show. But when she claps and shouts "yaayyy" throughout the whole of Family Feud, it does tickle me so much!
@poppyc8 our naps have been off too. I thought he was going to one a day last week then he started back to taking two. The first is within 1.5-2 hours of waking, but it seems to have coincided with him walking more.
Interesting. She just started walking this week and her nap is also 1 1/2-2 hours after waking.
It's driving me a bit nuts but I'm just following her sleepy cues. It is what it is...

I try to offer protein at each meal. He'll normally eat some bacon at breakfast, maybe a whole chicken/turkey sausage for lunch. He eats cheese and yogurt throughout the day as snacks and he's drinking milk pretty good now. He hates anything with eggs. When he refuses everything some days those belvita or nature made blueberry biscuits are my go to, whole grains, fruit and protein.
ETA: Sometimes we go a day or two without a bath, sometimes he gets one everyday. It depends what we've done. He loves playing in the water so he either gets a bath or in the pool pretty much every day.
We didn't have TV service for almost 2 months. The Jungle Book DVD was the only way I got meals made during that time. Now he watches the baby channel and Mickey Mouse club. He loves anything with music and sometimes we just keep the radio on. He might total an hour of actually paying attention to the tv a day if that.

Wheel of Fortune is what gets DS clapping. It normally comes on after the news here, as we're winding down for bedtime. It's the cutest, although I have wondered if we should stop having news on as he's absorbing more and more.
In general, H and I are used to having the TV on as background noise. On the weekends when we're home a lot, we're trying to be more conscious of what's on, or just changing it to having music on instead. When he's getting super cranky, I'm not above putting Sesame Street on, because Elmo is almost a surefire way to get him a little happy/calm again. He has started actually watching it more and more, lately I'd say he'll actually sit and watch for a good 10-15 minutes at a time, and then just toddle around and pay attention off and on (mostly during the songs) for the remainder of the show. Though yesterday when he was feeling miserable, we snuggled on the couch for a solid hour watching TV, but that's one of those exceptions to the rule.

Am I the only one who doesn't think too much about what I'm feeding LO? I have a general idea that he should get mostly whole foods as opposed to processed ones, but other than that I mostly follow what he points at or what I'm in the mood to make.
Like sometimes he'll have three pieces of fruit and others hell just have a bagel. Usually with dinner he gets all the food groups because that's when we tend to make them all.

The last two days LO has started tripping and stumbling a lot more when he walks. He seems fine otherwise. At what point would you get concerned about that?

J doesn't usually get protein at breakfast, but has it at both lunch and dinner. He drinks all the milk though.
Baths are two or three times weekly, more if he gets really messy.
Our TV is on more often than not. Once in awhile he will sit (or stand) and watch an episode of a kids show, but not very often. He usually runs around and doesn't pay too much attention. Computer and phone screens are a different story though.
carolyngrace, DS has been tripping and falling all over the place lately too, but he also started using running as his primary form of transportation over walking. I think when he started walking he was more cautious about things, but now he's just a human bulldozer, not stopping for anything in his path, which leads to more accidents.
Also, as far as what he's eating, I try to pay attention, but it's not perfect by any means. Especially with moving and everything lately, I try to make sure he's eating well, but some days, he's living more off chicken fingers and bread than something non-fried and and fruit/veggies. I try to throw a pouch at him if I feel like we've slacked in the fruits/veggies department, or will make an effort to cook a "good" protein I know he'll probably like if we've been eating not as great as we should, but I always figure while we could probably do better, we could also probably be doing a lot worse. I aim for more of long-term balance rather than stressing over every single individual meal.

We eat like crap and eat out a ton. We get those Gerber meals to feed J when we eat crappy. Currently she's eating cheese ravioli and mixed veggies while I eat firehouse subs.

Ask your pedi. It could be his shoes?
I need to get A some new shoes. He stumbles every time he tries to walk in his but he does great without them. I just can't find anything to fit his round little foot.

We have these and they are great and nothing really fits M's feet all that great.
Okay, Crib bumpers... The mesh ones specifically... Do you use them? J got her leg stuck in between the bars on her crib, up to her thigh! It was a bit traumatic to get her out... And she had a red mark for quite a while... My in laws are swearing by the bumpers... But I'm worried she might use them to climb out. Thoughts?

We use regular crib bumpers ::gasp::. She's never tried to climb out and wouldn't even be able to as she's so short and the crib is on the lowest setting, but I think it's safe to base this on your child's personality and your comfort level. Is your DD a climber?

If you're worried about her climbing, I would go the sleep sack route instead of a bumper.

Yeahhhh... I'm seeing climbing tendencies for sure... But it is dropped to the lowest setting... I might have to get one and then just sit and observe her and see what she does.

I hadn't thought of that option... I had her in a sleep sack for warmth over the winter, but stopped when it got warmer (it was fleece). Do you use one? Can your LO still stand up, roll around, etc.? I like J being able to entertain herself a bit in the mornings.

They make sleep sacks for kids that are walking. Check out the "Halo Early Walkers" sleep sacks. We haven't used them with J yet because it's too warm out, but we have some from when DS1 was this age. They have little holes for their legs and he could definitely walk around, move around etc!
bookninja we used to have the mesh bumpers until J started standing, now I don't trust her.
Okay, so I know J isn't the only petite one on the board, so maybe it won't surprise you that she's still in the plastic bathtub. It is getting a bit snug, what do I move on to? My sister has a bath seat that she uses for my niece but it's no longer sold. Do your LOs just sit directly in the regular tub?

We've had LO in the regular bathtub for months now, she moves too much to stay contained in a baby bath. We just fill it with a few inches of water and put her in.

Even the normal sleep sacks that we have (no holes for legs) don't stop LO, she can do all the things in them still.

LO isn't in a sleep sack right now, but DS wore one until he was about 3. He was still very mobile in it, could stand and move around his crib just fine. We used a skip-hop one for warmer months. It's thin and has breathable sides. I haven't tried a HALO or Adan and Anais but I believe both have good reviews.
For colder months I have the baby dee dee and I loved it. I plan on using it for LO if we need to. So far he doesn't climb or stick limbs out. Here is DS when he was 2 wearing it: Edited: I should mention at this age he could walk all around the house in this particular sack, even with it zipped completely.

+1 to sitting in regular tub. We've been there for months now, it's awesome because she actually plays with the bath toys now, although the ultimate fascination is when I run just a trickle of cold water... Endless grabbing for it and splashing it on her face and trying (futilely) to drink it.
