Oh my goodness. This has been the hardest few days since H was born. He's been running a fever and super cranky and clingy. Didn't sleep for more than an hour at a time for 2 days, and refused everything but being breastfed.. Even EBM bottles. I had to call in to work to take him to the pedi, and now I feel dumb because all they said is, "maybe something vital?" and of course he didn't have a temp when we were there.
I am so proud of all the mommas who have colicky babies and still function and still have good attitudes. Sheesh. Luckily for me H seems to be over it and slept 5 hours straight last night. I feel like a zombie though. Ugh.
Ugh. Poor guy and poor mommy. Hang in there! It will pass hopefully ASAP!

I flooded my medela tube with milk again! At least now I know how I did it. Down to pumping one side until tubing arrives Tuesday. 😡
I hate when that happens. It's definitely wise to keep spare pump parts on hand. You can wash the tubing. I use the Medela steam bags after I hand wash them to disinfect them. Then, to dry it, swing it around like a lasso to get the water out.

So so sorry!! I hope he's on the mend and you're both getting some much needed rest!

Bummer!
Random but the pump the drug store gave me is so crappy that I can't pump both sides at once if actually want to get anything. I really should have gone back and argued that my insurance would cover a spectra or medala but I was so stressed out with unexpected home Reno and my dads heart attack. Boo.
k3am, was also about to ask bc my bestie (college roommate) went into labor last night and delivered this morning. It was fast!!! I hope your bestie has had her baby. I am headed to the hospital later today to meet baby girl!!!!! And now....I want a 3rd baby.
westiemom, you can rinse out the tubing, whip it around like a lasso (I think someone else said the same) and then connect it to pump w/o connecting to bottles and run the pump at highest suction for about an hour!
Her baby is here! Born yesterday afternoon, baby boy and mama are doing well and big sister (DDs bestie) is in heaven. We have an event planned today and we're hoping to make it to see them afterwards! Our event is an hour from us, their house is an hour from the event, and our house is an hour from them.. And DH needs to be home by 6 for a draft.. Thankfully her present has been packed and ready to go for weeks, so I don't need to worry about that.
But I am definitely going to be the bitchy wife today.. Let's go, we need to leave, hurry it along!
k3am I am that wife everytime we need to go anywhere. I think it would take an additional hour if I wasn't moving them along. H gets easily distracted and will start playing with ds1. It's ridiculous.

Can someone tell me about their feeding/sleeping routine? I had been doing nurse, play, sleep but in wonder what others are doing. The last few days he's been harder to put down for naps so I've been doing nurse, play, nurse, sleep.

I can honestly say I'm haven't paid to much attention this time. I nurse before bedtime but she rarely falls asleep. It makes her drowsy, I put her in her swaddle up with a paci and she falls asleep. We eat, play sleep for sure before her first morning nap. The afternoon is a toss up, I just feed when I think she is hungry and she sleeps about every 2 hours still.
I left A playing on her baby gym to make J a sandwich. I came back and she had scooted herself about three feet! Time to break out the exersaucer. Now if I only knew where all of the parts are.

We do nurse play sleep now but we just started being able to do it a couple weeks ago when DD put herself on an every 3.5-4 hr nursing schedule. Prior, she didn't space nursing out long enough and took naps that last too long to make it work. Now it's nap 1.5-2 hours, eat, play 1.5 hours then repeat.

What did you do before? We could get eat, play, sleep into a 2-2.5 hour span but now he takes longer naps sometimes so I've been trying to feed him before his nap as well. I feel like I'm in the stage you were in and can't figure out how to make it work. He's still eating every 2-2.5 hours but his naps are longer (used to nap for 30-45 mins).

The universe is not cooperating. We're 30 mins away from my bestie's, DS wants to nurse, and if traffic doesn't make us it's birch, we'll have 30 mins to visit. All this is assuming that DS cries the remaining 30 mins to their house...

I wish this was my problem. Lo usually naps for a bit less than an hour and his awake time is still 60-90 mins. So when he wakes up from his nap he isn't hungry. We are not on any sort of schedule because sometimes he wants to eat every 2 hours and sometimes he goes 4-5. I guess he is eating what he needs because he is gaining well, but I still worry it's not enough. I know I've read babies need 2-3x their weight in oz of formula/day, he's just hanging out on the lower side.

Generally, he feeds before 9am nap. It's often broken up into two feeding sessions. One about 5-10min after he wakes up and then a "top off" before the nap. He plays in between. I think he actually almost always eats before the nap...just seems to work out that way. If not right before a nap, it seems like it's within 20min of nap or sleep time. I did nurse, play, nurse, sleep a lot with DS1 also.
DH and I don't fight often, but we sure did today. And the day's not over.
We are true twinsies today: 1) had a strong cocktail earlier! In the head!!! 2) saw bestie's baby. She is perfect! 3) DH and I also don't fight often but we have bickered a bit today....We are made up now.
DH suggested we go out on a date night (yay!!!) and it will be our first one since DS was born. He suggested this weekend but his little sister is in town so not only are we doing wedding stuff by his mom can't baby sit. So he suggested my bff watch DS. But she's out of town this weekend for one of her baby showers.
So he got pouty and said fine he didn't want a date night anyway. :/ I suggested Thursday night or week after next.
mrssqueegy for scheduling, baby I only has part of his day figured out. Usually we nurse in the 8:00 hour, sleep 9ish-6ish, eat, play, eat, nap... That gets us to almost noon. The afternoon and evening are still a mystery but I'm sure he will settle into something when it's time. 😊
This weekend was bonkers!
We are finally 100% finished building our backyard fence. We attached the gate this morning. Brag: our neighbor is a contractor and said a pro couldn't have done better AND the guy who cut our wood took pics for his website and said it was beautifully done. 💕
Baby I was baptized today!! He was extremely fussy this morning and we interrupted his routine by rushing nursing so I could get ready in time. He was fussy at mass, but once we did a little comfort nursing he didn't cry once for the rest of the day! Even when the priest washed his hair in holy water! Even when the whole family played pass the baby! Good boy. He got some sweet presents and some cash for his little savings. Food was amazing and we brought home leftovers of everything. Win!

We usually did this:
7:00 wake and eat 8:15 nap (nurse beforehand periodically) 9:30 eat 11:15 eat 11:30 nap 1:30 eat 3:00 eat 3:15 nap 5:15 eat 7:00 eat 7:30 bed
All times not eating or napping were play. It was a lot of eating. Lol

This is pretty close to what we are doing right now. Mostly because the doctor wants me to offer the breast a lot to make sure DS is getting enough oz a day. Although I've started backing off and going with his cues so he's kind of between your two schedules lol
I don't have much of a set schedule with Ry... We're just too busy to stick to one certain thing. He has started to kind of ditch morning napping even at daycare and only takes like 2-3 20 min cat naps from like 8:00 and 2:00 then around 2:00 he naps for about 3 hrs. I feel like maybe I should be more strict on a schedule and then I'm like ehh what the heck lol

Lol I'm thinking its kind of one of those things they choose their own schedule roughly and we need to do what works.
