So this webinar that I'm watching about effects of early trauma on the brain is so fascinating. I also feel like I need to learn more world history! Lol! He is explaining how Romania in the 60's, 70's, 80's was ruled by a dictator who felt Romania's way of becoming a great country was to increase the population. He established Menstrual Police, to have monthly gynecological checks of women in child bearing years to have 5 or more children, made a celibacy tax where families who had less than 2 children paid a higher tax and outlawed contraception. Led to major crisis and child abandonment. OMG, I just can't even imagine or wrap my head around this. My IF experiences make my mind wander to how horrible that would be for my family, to not only deal with IF but be further financially penalized for it!! Wow...we live in a fascinating world!

Add me to the no sleep club. DD2 decided to start her day at 4:30. We're all pretty grumpy over here. But my best friend is coming to visit and we're taking our kids to storytime, so hopefully that cheers everyone up.

Situation: you have a ton of errands to run (should take a few hours) but your little one is refusing to take a nap, despite rubbing her eyes and sleepy, whiny cries. She's been whining/tossing and turning for over an hour. At what point do you say "f*ck this" and get ready to go out?

10 minutes ago! She will probably fall asleep in the vehicle. Just make sure errands can work around sleeping in car if happens.

All errands require getting in and out of car at several stops. Issue is moot; she was whining and had only been quiet for a minute...I went blazing into her room and she was passed out. Ha whoops.

Emma's birthday. I don't want to go to work. Drinking all the wine tonight.
I don't mean to be insensitive but who is Emma?
Not insensitive. Sometimes I forget that not everyone here knows my story. Emma is my daughter. She was born at 23 weeks and didn't make it. She would be 2 years old today.

I'm so sorry for your loss and the difficult day today. Hugs for you and be kind to yourself.

I give it thirty mins before I call it. Yesterday I tried putting her down for her afternoon nap three times and she refused. That meant that by four thirty she has been awake 6 and a half hours and was completely losing it. I could barely get any dinner in her, she was so upset. She was in bed for the night before 6 pm. Thankfully she finally succumbed to her nap this afternoon.
Was supposed to go to a playdate at an indoor playground at 2:30, but we are missing it because of her nap. I think I may just go with her by myself when she wakes up.
I'm currently researching Halloween costumes...I think A would make a great cowardly lion (and I found a no-sew tutorial for the lion mane, score!). Guess that means I'll be Dorothy this year.
M is going to be a chicken because I found a costume at a consignment sale. I wonder how much he's going to say "fuck this shit" when I try to put it on him
I think I am going to make an owl costume for P. Haven't decided what MH and I will be. Maybe we'll all be owls. He works for Etsy and they have a Halloween party where people go all out, so the pressure is on. It's got to be handmade and we can't half ass it.
