I'm tempted to look up calorie content on my favorite coffee drink to convince myself not to get one on the way to go grocery shopping tomorrow. But it sounds sooo good right now I don't want to care about my ever expanding gut. But I do. But blended irish coffee. But I'm fat. Ugh.
k3am agree. Also consider the truth - a well fed baby is a sleepy/happy baby so my guess is DC's over feed in general in hopes of a sleepy/happy kid. Also bc over fed is better than under fed if you're going to go one way or the other. I know every kid is different, but I usually pace feed my 8wk old DC baby 3 3oz BM bottles in 8 hours of care. Is yours starting to push away when full? Are there any "all done" cues you could pass along? I wonder if they're being so picky bc they may need to be more strict about reusing bottles/unfinished milk. They may prefer a little too much in a bottle bc if, say 3 oz isn't enough and they warm up another but your babe only takes another half oz, then will they have to discard the rest? Idk the answer, just a thought.
I just found a ring sling for pretty cheap. Now I'm torn on getting a size 5 or getting the ring sling. I'll get both eventually, but I'm trying to save money right now. Hmm. Decisions decisions.
erg. This reminds me. H and I spent a few hours this afternoon trying to get the hang of our new (to us) ring sling. We suck at it. We were ninjas with the Moby. Grr. I might have to hit up BWI soon if we can't get it right.
DS has been gaining weight pretty well in he last week or so. Fx I can get him up another pound by his next appointment
you seem to be up on this. What is the ideal weight gain rate for our kiddos at this age?
Last I heard (I think from the LC) it's about a pound or two a month from 2-6 months.
ETA: Ridley gained 11.5 oz in a month and she said that was totally within normal limits even though it was less than a pound a month. So I think there's a lot of wiggle room.

That matches up pretty well with kellymom! DS only gained about half a pound I believe (I could be remembering the exact amount wrong, I know I have it written down) between 1 month and 2 months. But so far he has gained over two pounds since his two month appointment.

Yeah I think they look at the trend too. Gaining weight, meeting milestones, wet/dirty diapers. DSs weight gain hasn't been great but so far everything else has been okay.
I just want an "all clear" from the doctor but I have a bunch you were right LED that DS will probably never be a chunker lol
Just now I was reading about weight gain and something said they like to see baby at least double, but preferably triple birthweight by a year. HELL NO! DNW a 33 lb one year old. Ugh. I really need to hit the weight room. And maybe get a back brace. lol
Neither of my kids ever gave "I'm done" eating cues that I could tell. It's frustrating.
snoris - I've found that the kind of ring sling helps in learning. My first one was handmade with a straight ream of fabric - super easy to adjust, less comfy to wear for long periods. The purchased one is a folded fabric to make a pouch, but more difficult to adjust. If I didn't have the skill from the first, I'd probably hate it.

Well DS should be able to manage that! But I'd have to assume it probably depends on their birthweight too. A small baby wouldn't need to gain as many pounds in order to double/triple their weight.
My FIL is a peach. He was telling me this morning that he did research and he found that babies HAVE to double their weight by four months otherwise horrible things happen. 😒🙄

I think the closest meeting to me would be the closest to you as well. I just hate traveling so far to things lol

Your in laws make me want to punch people. I am forever sorry you have to deal with them on any sort of a regular basis! I'll roll my eyes all over them for those times you can't.

You should do a hangout with me and Rama and we could all have fun wrapping together! It could be fun. Think about it.

LOL sometimes they aren't bad. Then sometimes they are so bad I can't even believe it lol
kateisoptimistic, I think it's typically 2-3 days after symptoms start. Lysol everything!
Long version of the story, MH's dad, brother, nephew, and sister in law (who we didn't know was newly pregnant at the time) came to visit us for father's day 2015. Julian sent everyone home with a stomach virus he got at daycare. The longest incubation period was three days.
@terrain Your FIL is ridiculous. I asked this question to a lot of people and it seems anywhere between 2-6 months was most common, but there was ones beyond that, too. The only thing that pediatrician really care about is the child's own growth curve. Doubling weight times can be so different depending on birth weight.

Yeah... Maybe for an "average" or small baby. A 6lb baby could probably easily reach 18lbs by a year. An 8lb baby could probably reach 22-24lbs. But any bigger... A was 10.4 at birth and he's just now 33lbs at 2. He's always had healthy weight gain and pedi has always been happy with it. That's one of those things that is definitely NOT "one size fits all"
westiemom Your football game pic was so cute! Where did you find sound protection that small? We have a set for DS1 but we tried them on DS2 and they were way too big! I've seen the other kind for infants that has a soft band around their whole head, but I'd rather have the headband kind.
Oh and I hope the puking was just a fluke!
The ear protection is from BuyBuy Baby. It fit and worked great! She didn't mind it at all.
The puking seems to be a one time thing! She's been great all day!

I have major mom guilt over the fact that I don't love weekends. Our toddler loves pushing limits right now and is screaming for no reason other than to get attention. He is a really sweet boy though and he just doesn't want to share the parental love! I feel horrible that I wish he could go to daycare on weekends too, just for half a day.
Sometimes I feel like we are living the same life. DS1 is also such a handful right now. He listens to nothing and pushes boundaries like no other. As a SAHM I just need a break sometimes.
I need to maximize on DSs sleep more. I want to just relax and play on TCF and fb and I waste precious sleep time. Granted it would be easier if I could actually fall asleep better 😜

Get out of that recliner! You need at least one night in a real bed.
