elm1214 how old is your baby? My babies don't seem interested in toys yet.
pbandjelly G rolled from belly to back at 11 days old!!! It was insane. And not a fluke.
She is 6 weeks old, 7 weeks on Tuesday. She has just started to get interested in the toys on her bouncer in the last few days so I tried the play mat. She gets excited and starts kicking her legs and waving her arms, but I'm guessing most of the contact with the toys isn't really intentional yet. She mainly likes to look at them.
bocaburger do we have the same MIL? Mine makes the same kinds of comments. "Well, since you're not nursing..." stfu.
Is she leaving soon?
Leaving tomorrow.
Overall I have a good relationship with my ILs and my MIL is really helpful with the babies but they are pretty opinionated and I'm pretty over hearing it... especially when they imply that I am causing my babies unhappiness!!!
My ILs are here this weekend. My MIL, who formula-fed her kids, has had some choice comments for me about breastfeeding. Like, "they're so gassy today, what did you eat?" And when G screamed at my boobs (because she was gassy and done eating), "she probably wants a bottle." And my personal favorite - said to G while I was feeding M - "Your mommy is starving you!"
O m g. Sounds like my in-laws who also formula fed. And my H's aunt said I registered for way too many breastfeeding items on my baby registry. That I shouldn't invest so much & just go straight to formula.
You are doing GREAT! Babies are gassy, burpy, hiccupy etc. They are going to have gas etc. with formula too, eye roll. Likely even more.

My MIL did the same thing! Add in a million passive aggressive comments about how I selfishly don't want anyone else to feed the baby and that's why I won't introduce bottles yet.

Your MILs would freaking hate me. I never got the hang of pumping with DD1, and have no intention of even trying with DD2. Other than what came with the failed pump, I have neved had a single bottle with my kids. Its not selfish to feed your kids, ffs.
R is allowed to start breastfeeding again! Hope it goes okay and that ~1 week of pumping will have cured OALD. Also hoping the nystatin has helped his thrush enough that I don't get it.
We received family photos back today! Here's one of the two littles. Eta: it's looking kind of blurry..not sure why.

That's awful. I'm on the other end of it. "Oh maybe the formula is the problem. You should switch it. He's probably gassy because he takes in so much air from the bottle." It seems as though no one can be pleased with how children are fed and just leave new moms alone!".
DD has an odd method of approaching the boob. Most babies just open their mouths but she actually starts making the nursing motion with her mouth before she is latched. So the tongue thrust basically causes a funky latch. It is hilarious and very odd
like when dogs paddle before the hit the water hahah

bocaburgerkatelm oh get this...visited my aunt with the baby. She was telling me "I can't believe you are still breastfeeding...I gave formula from day one and made John get up at night and do it so I could sleep- you should do that!" DS had a five minute fussy moment at her house... she called my mother and said that DS sounded "in distress" and that she didn't think I am being attentive enough to his needs. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!? I've had knots in my back for weeks because I won't put him down and I've never woken H once at night and you have the fucking nerve to say I'm not attentive!!
I don't even know how many times I was up last night between all 3 girls. DD1 has a cold (after a whole 3 days of preschool), so she was up due to that and nightmares. DD2 kept waking up crying, not sure why. And then of course the baby.
I'm letting H sleep in, and then he is watching them all so I can nap this afternoon. 😴

My least favorite thing about multiple kids is how the can tag team you at night. DD1 hasn't slept through in days. I hope this passes quickly once we get into our school routine.

I thought this was a funny story that you all may get a laugh at. So i will start with saying that the babies are tomorrow 7 weeks old and since they are early still quite small at 6.5 lbs and 8.5 lbs. So yesterday we took the babies to a tourist town in France. We got a decent amout of looks with our double stroller. Maybe more then usual, but here not alot of people usually talk to you about the babies but you can overhear some conversations about them sometimes. Anyway it was bottle time so we found a nice shaded place in the city centre to feed them. Then it started. Once the babies were out and on full display so many people were stopping and looking and watching and asking questions. Always the normal queations and comments, so cute, so small how old are they and what not. It was kinda embarrassing to be put on display like that. And all you can do is smile and answer their questions. Anyway. The funniest bit was that at 2 different occasions tourist groups of like 10-15 people stopped and watched. I mean these were groups with the leader holding their flag or umbrella or whatever to lead so people could follow. The tour guide stopped the tour and was asking questions like we were part of the tour! It was hilarious! Afterward we were saying that we should have collected money for our show of feeding babies! We may have actually collected something! Lol!
