No one is getting "flamed". There are some varying opinions here as there are on any other board/forum. The majority of people gave very helpful responses. Can we please not turn this into yet another sweeping "GKU is unwelcoming" discussion?
I am well aware this is not 3T, but a little.. IDK, not knowing the feel of the board, and constantly referencing her LO & BFing... But then I don't have a say in the board.
I don't mean this snarkily, but the whole question is about breastfeeding, so both those things would have to be referenced. She only mentioned it outside of the question once, to explain an absence.
Is someone getting flamed for asking a relevant TTC question on a GKU board? That's happening? She's being rude by shoving it down your throats that she has a kid?
Guys. Come on.
I don't think she got flamed, but I agree that it's 100% okay for her to talk about her child, and I wouldn't want her to feel otherwise.

Agreed. This is weird. A lot of people come here when they're TFAS. Like me. Do we need a completely separate board for that now?
As for the question, OP, you've gotten some good advice. I've been breastfeeding while TTC for all of my children. Except the first, obvs. Temping can be difficult, but I was almost always able to detect a shift and pinpoint ovulation. I found it easier to use OPKs in addition because my PP cycles were all over the place. It helped to have some idea of when I might be getting ready to O rather than just a shot in the dark.
FFS. One, maybe 2 people, said this was maybe insensitive. Lots of us chimed in and said it was perfectly fine, but we wish OP would clarify some information.

I'm beginning to feel like GKU can do no right anymore in certain people's eyes. We almost universally said this was a totally fine topic, and yet we're still getting accusations of being unwelcoming bitches.

I agree I should've lurked more and been more sensitive. I honestly didn't even think about it. I was looking forward to everyone's advice not so much looking forward to being called insensitive and oblivious. I didn't realize it was frowned upon to just drop in to ask a question without being more involved in the forum or to not answer questions more quickly. Guess I'm learning a lot today!

Honestly it did feel like people were trying to be snarky for no reason. OP has a valid question. Breastfeeding can make TTC more difficult because it can throw off your cycles.
OP, I'm not TFAS yet, but I know with tracking my cycles and cervical mucus my LPs tend to be a bit shorter since getting my PP period since I'm still breastfeeding. If you aren't having a period yet I would just try having sex at least 3 times a week and look into temping, cm checks and other tracking methods for the time being.

I personally felt like the board was nice to OP compared to other drive-by questions in recent history. I personally wasn't offended, I just felt like she didn't have a good sense for the board. That was a broad request for info, and then she just went MIA, knowing we'd likely need more info.
I also think that OP has handled herself well and hopefully she'll stick around. Most others got pissy and defensive and GBCTCF.

Almost every message board doesn't appreciate being used as someone's private google, and this is pretty much what you did, lurking and getting a feel for a board is always a good idea before posting.
I guess I don't really agree with this. If you Google a TTC question, the results are 99% from message boards. That's where people go to ask those questions. If we didn't answer them, there wouldn't be Google hits. I, for one, miss the aspect of GKU that was giving and sharing advice/knowledge.

Exactly... Right now, all the OP has done is take though, and that has always be frowned upon. Hopefully she will contribute as well, that is my point. And yes there are ways that someone could phrase things.. I'm guilty of that myslef, of not always phrasing things the best
The board is so slow at this point, that I don't even care if people just drop in lol. I'm over here like, ooooh a thread that isn't randoms/TWW/WTO?! That I actually have knowledge about?! Yaaasssss!!! Plus, maybe we can get them hooked and they'll stay.

This is also my thinking, ha.

I plan to stick around and try to learn more things regarding TTC and proper etiquette. I have lurked some but normally don't comment much. Most of the time people have already responded and answered questions and I don't have much to add.
