I honestly can't tell if wanderingheart 's "who are you?" was meant to be srs, but I've previously stated that my meter may be broken. I assumed it was a joke because irony.
Well fatmonica has posted a few times in this thread about culture of the board so I don't think it's unreasonable question to ask. Are you someone that's been here before under a new sn? Because I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering that.
I think it would be highly ridiculous to complain we're unwelcoming and then pull a "who are you?"
But the number of posts I've dedicated to this way outweigh how much I actually care, so maybe I'm not one to talk. I'm happy to go back to talking about food.

I see people tell grads to post - about TTC or whatever, but when they do, they get scolded for daring to be in GKU since they already have a kid, or for posting outside of the TFAS thread.
I, for one, am here because we're TTC again. Or at least we will be when my body gets the memo. And I'm the mod, so I'm sorta supposed to keep an eye on you bitches.
I think part of the problem is that people are stuck in their ways from TD. So when there's any chance that there could be drama or a troll, people jump to be snarky. Because you don't really get the chance to anymore. But not everyone without an avatar is a troll. And not everyone wants to participate long term. But that doesn't mean that we shouldn't share our knowledge with them. At least, that's how I feel. I only speak for myself.
That's all fine and dandy but in my humble opinion (spelled out for extra effect), the real drama doesn't usually start (and you know it's real drama when the popcorn gif makes an appearance) until the discussion turns to "how GKU is doing it wrong".
Anyway, I'm ready for funny cat gifs. Like cat in a monkey suit eating a banana.

Nope. I joined the bump in 2010 was active on the boards there, went over to proboards, then quit because of drama, got pregnant with my third, joined the bump again, active on the boards, then came over here when we started TTC again.

I'm #new but I think it would be nice of this board would be willing to share information even with posters that don't want to stick around. I know there's truss and drive bys, but when I first came on the dump I didn't know what a forum was. I honestly thought I could use it like Yahoo questions. I know there's a "read before you jump in" post and hopefully all of us newbs read that. But I'll have more questions and I have no experience TTC so I won't be able to give as much as I take. Don't some bmbs have "stupid pregnancy question"threads? Maybe a sub board or pinned thread or something for that? So all the posts don't end up and misunderstood argument?
Ok I'll see myself out now.
No. Don't see yourself out! STAAAAAYY! What questions do you have? Start a thread. We'll answer them. Well, maybe not these bitches. But I will!

I agree with you. This board is sofa king slow what the hell is the problem with a thread asking a TTC-related question without lurking or becoming a member?
Give and get support ok but fook no to most posters wanting to give support after getting sarcastic advice (and like pippa pointed out saying have sex during your fw was exactly that - not helpful and not relevant to the topic even).
Answer the question or don't. But getting offended over this stuf is ridic.
I'm still new, but I agree with frankenboom and alwayscheese . When you're truly new to TTC, you don't have much to offer as far as advice or experience. All I can do is offer support and participate in the QOTW or random threads to help the board get to know me.
And also, before TCF, I had no idea how much of a community an online forum could become. The ones I've participated on in the past (not TTC or parenting related) have been almost entirely for people to ask questions and those that had knowledge or opinions would answer. There are no questions of who the person is and responses had no snark or sarcasm. Just answers. So if anyone else new has the same experience with message boards, they might feel it's cool to post a couple questions and then either participate or not.
My personal opinion is I don't care if someone just asks questions and doesn't jump in otherwise. Questions are good. Typically more than one person has the same question but hasn't asked it. Questions I've googled have had results on the first page linked to TCF. That will bring more people here, which is something I keep seeing posted on this board as something we want.
So maybe this is something the board needs to make a group decision about: Do we strongly prefer new people read the newbie blog and then expect them to lurk and participate more than just asking a few questions? Or are we okay with newbies posting questions on the main board without lurking first or introducing themselves? Or something in between?

I never really understood the issue with pee sticks. The part that shows if you're pregnant or not is not the part that you pee on?? #UO #amigettingbanned

ETA: Another option
I like ironbaby's rules. I know I was the one who said something about not lurking first, but I don't actually care about that (or most things) and should have phrased it as "this may be why people are rubbed wrong."
So I vote for "post whatever you want in a non-asshole manner."
