Fall is nearly here! This weekend we've invited our neighbors over for hot apple cider, sugar donuts, and mulled wine.
What are your favorite warm, fall goodies? Brownie points for recipes.
I don't have any recipes on me right now but:
crabbies ILs spiked cider warm buffalo chicken dip apple cider donuts pretty much any fall food that doesn't have pumpkin in it.
I like pumpkin, but for some reason people see fall as a way to add pumpkin spice to everything and call it pumpkin. It's incredibly disappointing to want the taste of pumpkin and end up with a mouthful of cinnamon and nutmeg. DNW pumpkin spice.
MH's family introduced them to me. They also introduced me to a lot of amazing food including going to small non chain restaurants and ordering an appetizer, entree, and dessert PER PERSON when going out. Part of the reason why I married MH was so they would stay in my life for forever. They are amazing.
I miss home only in the fall, because I cannot eat my weight in apple cider donuts from a farm near where we got married.
My favorite thing about fall food is I can start merging into soups and chilis. My absolute favorite is the skinnytaste one pot turkey taco chili Mac. OMFG I would eat it every week if my H would let me make it that often.

Crock pot! Apple desserts! Pumpkin bread/muffins!
Some of my faves (I'll come back with recipes later)...crock pot cream cheese chicken chili, apple crisp, crock pot chicken cordon bleu, pumpkin muffins, and pumpkin dip with ginger snaps.
do you guys not crock pot during the summer? It's the best way to have dinner done without heating your house up to a billion fucking degrees.
We almost entirely grill/eat lots of salads. It's too damn hot to do much else.
We do a lot of grilling too, but if I want to do the least, I throw stuff in the crockpot in the morning and dinner is done when I get home. House is still cool too because I don't have to turn on the oven at all.

I crock pot meats (chicken, roasts, etc.) but not soups/chili if that makes sense.
That makes more sense. I eat soup for lunch in the summer at work because it 40 below in here, but I usually have some on hand in my freezer. I won't make soup in the summer.

I would eat soup year round but DH is adamantly opposed to it so fall and winter are my time to shine!

MH doesn't cook so he doesn't get to dictate what we eat.
Was it daydreamsam that had the delicious cheesy chicken chowder siggy last year? I need to break that recipe out again, that was amazing.
It was I! And damn, that sounds good! We are having a cold snap and it's only supposed to be 50 tomorrow so I might just make it! Let me know if you can't find the recipe, I'll dig it up again

Also, I am currently making this with graham crackers and it smells so good:
Pumpkin Dump Cake Ingredients 1 15 oz can Pumpkin Puree 1 10 oz can Evaporated Milk 1 cup light brown sugar 3 eggs (slightly beaten) 3 tsp pumpkin pie spice 1 box yellow cake mix 1 cup (2 sticks) butter melted 1 cup coarsely crushed graham crackers or pecans (walnuts are good too) 1/2 cup toffee bits (optional)
How to Make Preheat oven to 350 Spray a 9×13 baking pan lightly with cooking/baking spray In a large bowl combine the pumpkin, evaporated milk, sugar, eggs and pumpkin pie spice. Stir to combine. Pour into your prepared pan. Sprinkle your entire box of cake mix on top, followed by your nuts or graham crackers and toffee chips. Pour your melted butter evenly on top. Bake for 45-50 minutes until center is set and edges are lightly browned.

I do this too with pulled pork, taco steak meat (cook 2 lbs of stew meat in the crock pot all day with a jar of salsa), roasts, roast beef for french dips, etc. Best way to cook in the summer!

Butternut squash bisque!
We made a butternut squash quinoa casserole last week that was amazing. Butternut squash, quinoa, onion, egg, fresh garlic, fresh sage, gruyere cheese... so much yum.

My grandma makes the most amazing veggie beef soup and a chicken soup with dumplings on top that tastes exactly like chicken pot pie only better. If it wasn't in the 90's here is ask her to make them both.

Hi! Well, we took a drive to Texas from California for a few weeks and then I've just been babying and working (our busy season is September thru December) so I've only been mobile and Tapatalk sucks! We are good, starting solids, getting lots of teeth and not sleeping much but we are good
Still hot here. We probably wont cool down till late Nov. I want boots and scarf weather. I love soups when its cold. My go-to is always chicken soup. I add a ton of veggies too.

Yes to all the fall recipes! Last year, during our annual re-watching of all of the HP movies, I made up a pretty good pumpkin pasties recipe. (To my dismay, all the internet recipes interpreted them as sweets, but pasties are usually savory, so I had to make a savory version.)

I think my favorite fall dish is white chocolate pumpkin cheesecake. Am definitely looking forward to making that for Halloween/Thanksgiving this year!
I also have a "seasonal soups" DH so it's almost time to get the party started. Soups are the best!

I also make a crockpot lentil soup that is basically various amounts (what looks good) of green lentils, chicken broth, finely chopped carrots and onion, celery stick for flavoring only, and herbs. We'll have that tonight with rosemary bread. Mm.
