My H is not making it easy and vetoed 10+ boy names that I thought were solid contenders - most recent one he vetoed was Miles.
The ONLY boy name he suggested and liked is Eli. I don't like it- it's too short and is too close to the name Ellie.
So far we have agreed on Penelope for a girl nn Penny. Middle name will be my mom's middle name, Joyce. But I'm still only 80% convinced this is the name, nothing set in stone yet.
I lurk the baby name board but most of the name styles from active members there are sooo not my style at all. So it doesn't help with coming up with ideas.
Guise.. we have zero ideas for names. Zero! We knew before we were even pregnant with Clara that would be her name. This poor baby may not even have a name when they are born 😩
It's going to be real awkward when all your kids have the same name...
...poof
Guess I'm safe. lol *PDQ
I love names that aren't popular but are legit names. If that makes sense. My name is Poof* and I love that I've never met anyone yet with that name name. I hate that no one can spell it but...what can you do.
I feel bad (well, that's too strong, but I wonder at consequences) for kids with very Biblical names, like Jedediah. Or even Moses! I know at least two little boys named Moses. Like when little Jed (as one friend calls his son) is interviewing for jobs, are there Freakonomics-like biases about those names? I really don't know.
Edited to add: I was thinking about this because y'all were talking about liking Biblical names and I thought, "those are all normal ones!" I forgot to post that part.
@mikeala20 pardon me for not remembering, do you have a tie to an Ellie? Fwiw without a pretty direct connection I wouldn't think the names sound too close.
Maybe Elijah with Eli for the nn?
That's what I had suggested since Eli doesn't seem like a full name. He vetoed Elijah and Elias. So I had to vetoed his name choice. And he hasn't been happy with anything else. So frustrating!
ETA no real tie but my stepdads mom is Ellie. It seems like it can easily be pronounced as Ellie by mistake? I don't know. Something bugs me about it. Lol

One nephew on my H's side has Nehe.miah as his middle name. I'm glad it wasn't his first name.
I'm getting a lot of negative feedback for our name!!! I need some real opinions here! We are having a girl and we have chosen Alice Georgia. George is a family name and since she isn't a boy, we pick Georgia. At the end of the day, we'll name our child how we see fit, but is it really that bad??

I refuse to tell anyone our names until the kid is born.
Not like you guys, but irl. People are dicks.
The first and middle name don't flow off the tongue easily to me. That being said I think it's a pretty name and middle names aren't used anyway.

There's freakonomics-like biases around my name, TBH.
I forgot dh's boy suggestion: Dewey. I don't like it.
I'm not sure if he's serious because of how he presented it to me since he is sure we are having a girl. But it is a family name.
Hard pass on Dewey. Especially for a girl.
Isn't Dewey one of Donald Duck's nephews?
I'm 100% sure I'll be vetoing it as a name of any child. He did mean it as a boy name though. He suggested it since "we wont need it since we are having a girl."
We both love the name Alice. My second choice is Clara, however, Clara clashes with our last name. @amc25, and jnow neither of us are too fond of Georgia or any female variation of George, but it is extremely important to us that the middle name has strong family ties. I agree, I don't like the flow either, but we are stuck. Oddly, the negative feed back is our choice of a first name. I wish we never told family our name choice. Oh well we have a few more months to hammer it out. Thanks for your feedback!
Oh, the only name that I fought for even though H was a hard no was Georgia. I get it since we're both from Georgia and will hopefully be moving back at some point which might make it a little weird, but I still love it
I knew a Virginia from Virginia in college and always thought it was cute. Plus easy to remember where she was from 😉

amberry10 I don't think you need to change a thing. How often are you going to refer to her by first and middle name?
My whole last pregnancy I just told people we weren't sure about names, even though we had an idea. I didn't even name her until the day after she was born (hard labor and I was unwilling to commit to a name when I couldn't even think straight).
@justinslovo what about Bel (Belle) for a nn for Isobel? I'm sure you've thought of it already, but just in case!
I am 9o% sure I can't use the name, because I hate the name Isabelle. I would be annoyed of people always saying the a instead of the o and I hate the nickname.
Although Belle is my favorite disney princess!
My fingers are crossed for a boy. I think it will be so much easier to name.
I hope you get your boy!! I think your other girl choices are beautiful though. I love love love Colette and Eloise.
amberry10 I love both names. I love Georgia more and think Georgia Alice flows better but I know you like Alice better so just go with it. Both are solid names.

FTR, her name is Audrey Lynn and we love it.
Not often, I don't think. My son is Mason Riley and we rarely use is middle name. However, DD is Audrey Lola (love your taste in names!) and we call her Audrey Lola all the time!

I don't have a problem with sharing our name choices with people. Even after I told my Grammy our name for DS and she didn't even hesitate to tell me that she didn't like it and that it rhymed with a certain F word.
