Thanks. I got a few more hours after H left for work, so I'm feeling better. The strong coffee is helping, as are the chocolate chip cookies I had for breakfast. DS is passed out in the swing now. This growth spurt/leap can pass now.
Cookies for breakfast sounds like an excellent decision. If it wasn't cold, rainy, and windy I would go get some right now.
We moved from Boston to Colorado years ago and it has been a really good choice for our family. Yes it stinks sometimes to have zero local family, but our apartment was about 45% cheaper than when we were in Boston (not the case anymore we have a much more expensive housing market now). The weather is better and we get outside a lot more. Moving sucks, but it can work out for the best.
Another positive DH has a much shorter commute and while he works crazy hours frequently they would most likely be worse if we still lived in Boston.
Are we the same person? We also moved from Boston to CO a few years ago!

DD slept for 8 hours in a row last night. I know it was only because of her shots yesterday, but it was glorious. I was only up once at the 5 hr mark to pump and then went back to sleep.
Need to do some cleaning today. My little sister is coming tomorrow from out of state to meet DD. She's so excited! (I still think of her as little, but she's 24)

Nice! For a while we had a big network of friends who lived here, but most have now moved away- I'm not sure why it's nice here.

My baby's four days younger than yours and on a sleep strike. I'm jealous!

This afternoon we are headed to DH'S office halloween/tick or treating thing. Should be fun, but he works an hour away and ds2 has been screaming nonstop today. I'm hoping the car puts him to sleep, otherwise thst will be a terrible drive.
Oh, and last week it was 85 amd humid and I had the a/c on. Today, it snowed all morning. New England's weather is crazy.

We went through some rough sleep in the beginning. I think that it was a fluke night! She does give good stretches, but the 8 hours has never happened before. Our problem is she doesn't go to sleep until 12 or 1.

Some day this baby will sleep more than 2 hours. :-)
He will, I promise!
For sure. It took DD1 five months and some strong encouragement from us (modified Ferber as approved by the pediatrician), but she did it. DD2 took 4 months and taking away the pacifier.
If it doesn't happen naturally you will find a plan you and your kid's doctor agree on and help it along.

Mine likes to get ip at 4am with a big smile.
Here's hoping the 8 hours wasn't a fluke!
I think its just the vaccines. We've had basically no alert time today (besides to eat). Attempted tummy time since she seemed awake and this happened:

I don't want to get too excited prematurely, but R has napped one full hour in his crib in the Merlin Sleepsuit! This is a huge first since he always wakes up after up to ten minutes in he crib.

So, my sister has been sick for at least 10 years but has never been able to find a diagnosis or a doctor that would take her seriously. She recently started seeing a holistic NP who just diagnosed her with a type of dysautonomia called POTS.
I don't know how to feel. On the one hand it's a relief to finally have a diagnosis and a provider who cares. On the other hand, the research on POTS is limited and there is currently no treatment other than a few meds to manage some of the symptoms.
I like to arm myself with knowledge but the info out there is limited, so if anyone happens to know anything about this condition I'd love to talk to you about it.
So my kid who has taken a bottle, has now decided to boycott bottles. While out tonight he wouldn't take a bottle for DH. Luckily he did eventually pass out for DH..so he obviously wasn't starving. I actually woke him up when I got home bc I wanted to go to bed. He's nursing longer than normal. But we are going to have to work on this as I return to work next Saturday for a 6 hr shift. Of course DH acted like it was my fault, so it kind of ruined my night out.
shanny I was going to ask about Merlin suit, then say your comment about an hour nap. You'll have to let me know how nighttime goes. I bought the miracle swaddle and last night he slept in his RNP. But that only goes to 14 weeks it says.
joy she knows she has to play up the cutest factor at 4 am.
remylove1011 what an adorable picture of tummy time. DD slept like that after her 2 month vaccines..she didn't do it for later ones. Just that first round.
I know it came up before about having people who visit baby get the flu shot. For those who decided to go this way, did you encounter anyone saying no? If they said no, did you stick with not seeing them?
We are going down to LA (so six hour drive) in a few weeks, primarily to see H's grandparents. H's uncle and his family also live there. MIL called and asked them about flu shots (not sure whether she explained about it being because R is a newborn w/ heart condition and that we are requesting people to get flu shot) and that they said they won't get it.

shanny we did not make people get the flu shot, but did make family members get the Tdap for whooping cough. I spoke with everyone while I was still pregnant and made it clear the had to get an updated one (or have had it in last 5 years). Most of our family was fine with it and got the shot. My dad put up a bit of a fuss and I made it very clear that he could not meet her if he did not get it. I think for a child with a heart condition I'd be very strict about people needing to get shots, who came in contact with the baby. I was strict without the extra worry!

shanny, I'm not checking for everyone who comes to visit, but I am asking the babysitter and in-laws to get the flu vaccine (anyone who will spend extended time with us). If I was dealing with a heart condition I would probably be stricter.
bocaburger I don't have any information about the condition but wanted to offer support. I understand that conflict of feeling relieved but also sad to have a diagnosis. Good thoughts to your sister.
meagpt22 I'm sorry. My kids all start to reject bottles around this age. Last night at the dinner I had a perfectly good bottle of pumped milk for DD and she wanted nothing to do with it.
