I'm so so over being at work today. I called in sick yesterday and spent the whole day sleeping or lying on the couch binge watching Hulu with DS. I thought I'd feel more rested today :/
Also, H and I have a meetup with a couple local doulas tonight to see about using their services and I COMPLETELY forgot until one texted me. Oops! I keep forgetting about this meeting so hopefully it's fresh enough in my mind that I don't blow it off >.<

marshian I took that picture of me and DH two months ago when I got the shirts. I've worn mine a bunch of times so far. Don't curr if it's a Halloween shirt I wear it when I want cuz it's fun. So I totally back your skeleton thanksgiving shirt.

Unless we find something we like better, I think those are going to win!

Hi!
There were 2 birthdays in my office today and 2 different people bought cakes for the birthday people so we had a lot of cake around here today. It's been awesome.
For those who made it through the nauseous stage: Better to eat something small when I'm nauseous or don't eat at all? I can't figure out which makes it worse. My instinct is to eat something small, preferably protein, but no protein appeals to me right now.

marshian, I think it really just depends on what you find works for you. With DS, eating while nauseous just made everything worse and I had to wait for it to subside before I could keep anything down. With this pregnancy, eating a little carb or protein helped make the nausea calm down for a little while.
We just got home from DS1's Halloween party at daycare. OMG. 17 preschoolers all jacked up on cupcakes and cookies. His teachers are saints, I swear.
I did some therapeutic shopping at Target this morning after I dropped DS1 off. I got some super cute, cozy sweaters that I'm excited to wear. My mom is supposed to be coming this weekend to help since H is going back to work, I'm hoping she'll get here early enough tomorrow afternoon that maybe, just maybe H and I can go get dinner alone on his last night of leave. I'm not holding my breath though.

I lived off of carbs during 1st tri with both my pregnancies. The trick is to eat constantly enough that you never get nauseous, but LOL to that. I found that if I ate some crackers slowly when I was nauseous that eventually it passed (or at least was alleviated somewhat).

That would be a great feat if I could manage it! Carbs are the only thing besides bland soup which appeals to me right now so I'll try that.
marshian, I find it's better if I have something in my stomach. Not perfect, but better. Good luck! And yes to the carbs. That said, I have not made it out of nausea hell yet, ha.

Do you find yourself getting nauseous at a certain time? I felt sick all day every day throughout 1st tri, so I always stuck to small snacks. For me, skipping food made the nausea worse as the day went on.
If you find yourself feeling sick at the same time each day try to drink some water and eat some crackers ahead of time. You'll likely have to do some trial and error to find what works best for you.

Eat something small. That's how I kept the nausea away was never being hungry.

I stuffed my pockets full of peppermints and sucked on them all day. I had where I would taste stomach acid all day and my mouth would fill up with saliva and I'd feel like I was going to puke. But sucking on peppermints helped keep the acid away and I felt better. I also found that eating a few crackers or something before standing up if I'd been sitting for a while (like at work) kept me from feeling nauseous and light headed from standing up.

Yes. Graham crackers in the morning before getting up really helped me. I also lived off hard peppermint gum.
Thanks to everyone for the suggestions! If it continues like the past two days, it's been all day long, no specific times. I'll get some peppermint and ginger candies from the store tomorrow and keep trying to eat something small every few hours.

marshian for me a single carb worked best first thing in the morning when my nausea was worst. If I didn't eat it got worse. My usuals were toast with peanut butter or half a bagel thin with cream cheese. Or a plain whole wheat toaster waffle. I couldn't stomach a protein until about an hour later. I also pretty much lived on soup when pregnant with my son.
This time around I knew I could eat through the nausea and not puke, so I managed a little better with protein later in the day. But nibble throughout the day.

I will add on that, like some of the others, I lived off of jolly ranchers during my 1st pregnancy and peppermint candies with this one during the nauseous stage.
