2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? all day...probably every 1-3 hours when we are at home
3. What would you title this chapter in your BFing journey? Barnacle Baby
4. Is there an age you know you wouldn't BF past? I have no idea...maybe age 3? Never thought we'd be nursing this long so it's hard to say.

I've been sick with a cold the last few days so it's been rough but we are trucking along. I don't feel my let down a lot, but when he unlatches I see milk so I know I'm still producing plenty

4. Is there an age you know you wouldn't BF past? Based on prior experience, 4 would be my firm cutoff. @_@ but i don't think DS2 will want to nurse as long as his big bro did.

This weekend at a birthday party there was face painting. He and another girl organized all the kids into a fashion show to show off their designs.

4. Is there an age you know you wouldn't BF past? I coudln't envision nursing to 2yo. Just after seeing how wild my DD was at that age - how the hell do you get them to sit still?!

Also since I am new, I have a question if you all don't mind . . . does anyone here still pump? One of my biggest things to making it to one year was that I wanted to be free of the pump. This is the first week I have tried getting away from it. I pumped once on Monday, LO was home with me on Tuesday, did not pump yesterday or today.

with both kids i pumped until they were about 14 months. how did you feel yesterday and today? engorged or okay? i guess i'm not sure what your question is.

I did feel firm but not uncomfortable. I guess I'm trying to see if I can continue nursing my LO without having to pump to maintain supply.

absolutely! your body will adjust to the new "schedule." try to let LO nurse extra when you're at home (seems like you do, based on your PP) to help boost your supply. but you should be able to continue to nurse as long as you both want.

I'm not sure I would want to nurse past 2 but I also didn't think I would enjoy BFing as much as I do, or that DD would still want to nurse so much...so I don't know.

The last time I laughed was when DH and I were chatting and he was lying on the floor with DD using him as a jungle gym, and as she crawled all over him she put her weight right on his throat catching him mid sentence. For some reason this made us both crack up hysterically.

A 10 legged grab happy octopus pulls up a stool at the milk bar.

4. Is there an age you know you wouldn't BF past? My plan is to BF until age 2 unless he weans before then. But plans get changed, so we'll see what happens.

My child learning to nod for yes and shake for no even though he doesn't know what we're talking about. It's just fun to ask him questions and see his response. He's a live 8 ball.

F is 18 months
Nurses roughly 4 times per day but I never say no if he asks.
I plan on letting him self wean, I don't really know that there is an age I would cut him off.
I call this time in our relationship peaceful. I don't worry about intake and numbers, I just relax and enjoy our special time and bond.

One thing that I am struggling with is sometimes feeling like I'm rushing him Bc I don't want to sit for 30 minutes before nap or bed while he nurses. I'm ready to be done for the day and just put him to bed. But then I get that mom guilt and know that once he weans I will long for this time. Anyone else going through this?

lolacachia, we went through a few weeks where DS just wanted to hang out on my boob without really nursing and it made me super itchy. So I started keeping him on just while he was actively nursing or having him switch sides every time he stopped getting milk. When I got over it, or he did, we went back to nursing however long he wanted - which did not include him latched but not suckling forever.
As for before bed/nap, after he's done nursing we cuddle and read a few books. So instead of a 30-45 minute nursing session, it's a 10-15 minute session plus 15 minutes of books. Would that be less irritating for you? It's okay to set limits. It's a nursing relationship, and especially after the first year it's okay and healthy to honor your needs as well as his.

seamonster, I giggled a little at 'for reals this time.' I think you're super for finding a balance between what you want and what LO wants, and I wish you luck and ease weaning whenever you decide it's right ;-)

I think at this point my cutoff is 3. It has changed since having dd2.

I've been putting dd1 off a lot. It was nice having milk as a transition for dd1 but I think I'd be okay with her weaning at this point. We'll take it day by day but it's been easier and easier to say no and for that to be okay with her.

Question: Next month I will be away from DD2 for 7 nursing sessions. I am planning on bringing my pump but am wondering what to do for DD2. I don't have any pumped milk. Will not having BM for 3 days cause her to wean? WWYD?

i haven't been away for either LO for that long, but my guess is no- anecdotally everyone that i've heard that leaves an enthusiastic nurser for a trip comes back to find they still have an enthusiastic nurser. LO can, of course, drink WCM or water while you're away.
