What's on your to-do list to get yourself, your family, your house, ready for baby?
I thought we could keep a master to-do list thread and update/edit posts to cross off our accomplishments. (Is my brain in nesting mode already? Maybe...)
- Bring bassinet up from basement and assemble Check! - Go through cloth diaper stash and run them through a wash. Check! - Find the backseat mirrors that we had for DD... Check! - Find the boppy... Check! - Sort/wash things we're re-using from DD (bucket seat fabric insert/linens/boppy cover/k'tan) Check! - Empty out a drawer in DDs dresser for DSs clothes Check! - Install bucket seat and extra base in cars Check! - Make some freezer meals Check! - Move crib mattress up to top level Check! - Prep hospital bag Check! - Prep bag for DD (for if she has to stay overnight somewhere) Check! - Clarify plan with in-laws for DD during labor Check! - Sort out FMLA/STD leave/pay through work - Initiated claim process. - After the new year, call insurance regarding a new pump. Check! - Preregister at the hospital. Check! - Get DH to install a dimmer switch in our bedroom (DNW motn diaper changes at full brightness) Check! - Not really a baby item, but would LOVE to get DH to finish the entryway bench/painting project before LO arrives... Check!!!
To prep house for any overnight guests that have to stay with DD during labor... - Organize DDs dresser Check! - Organize linen closet Check! - Organize kitchen - Deep clean fridge
ETA: I'm shamelessly stealing ideas from people. Thank you for helping me be more organized!

1. Register for birthing classes 2. Call my insurance to find out what the process looks like for adding baby. 3. Touch up trim in nursery 4. Move extra furniture out of Nursery 5. Assemble glider and move into nursery 6. Update registries
Oh my, I think my list is going to scare me into inaction. Most of it is house related.
-patch plaster, prime/paint, wallpaper and organize baby's closet -personalize room with craft projects and art -finish trim and paint in hallway -sand and stain attic stairs -prime and paint stairwell -prime and paint living room ceiling -patch plaster in kitchen, prime and paint -touch-up paint whole house -deep clean the house -winterize -stock up on postpartum supplies -make plans for A & G during labor -clean out the cars and rearrange/ install car seats -potty train G before baby gets here -meal planning and stock freezer for post delivery -try not to have a panic attack
The house stuff is a big priority around here, but we're slacking on energy and time to get it done. Winter is approaching and I do not want paint fumes in this house when baby comes. I feel like we're doing pretty well, though, on things that are specific to her. That will probaby change as we hustle to get the rest done, I'm sure.

Once new insurance starts...
1. Call insurance regarding a new pump. 2. Preregister at the hospital.
Other stuff...
3. Hang nursery décor. 4. Get required gear out of storage. 5. Go through J's old clothing and take out any gender-neutral stuff. 6. Assemble PnP in our bedroom. 7. Organize necessities in nursery and basket of necessities on 1st floor. 8. Buy/Wash take-home outfit for baby. 9. Verify babysitter/emergency contacts for J (we have three lined up). 10. Prep hospital bag. 11. Make sure car seat is installed in my car and extra base is installed in MH's car. 12. Figure out a way to tell family we don't want hospital visitors (pray for me).
13. Make freezer meals so my family eats those first few weeks home.
14. Sterilize bottles and pump parts.
15. Organize pumps.
16. Deep clean my car.
ETA: I actually get to mark some things off! Yay!
ETA#2: We got our new insurance cards!
ETA#3: Holy moly... my list is done. And I honestly don't feel like I'm forgetting anything.

*OK! Time to edit this terrible atrocity. I've realized this list is going sideways so I have some changes to make*
My list makes me feel physically ill it's so long. Moving before baby is a huge stress, I wish we had been able to sell sooner so I wouldn't feel so stressed.
-finish unpacking essentials *wash whole house (walls, carpets, etc) MIL HAS OFFERED TO PAY FOR A ONE TIME CLEANER. I take back every negative thing I've said about the woman...until the next thing. *take growing pile of crap to the dump DH and BIL are splitting a dumpster, but it likely won't happen before baby- I'm accepting that it's a formulated plan. -survive christmas -get house back out of Christmas mode *argue with DH until he sets up storage in the garage We found rot in one of our garage walls, so it's not happening. Storage is a cluster fuck right now. *rip out ugly space killing wall mounts in nursery Nursery is not happening before baby I feel all the sads about this, but we jsut don't have time and other priority renos have come up *drywall nursery See above *fix heating issue in upstairs bedrooms and playroom Also put off for same reason as nursery because it's all on the same floor -find baby stuff among the boxes of non-essentials FOUND! But not inside yet *decorate nursery Again, see above *transition dd2 out of the crib She is SO not ready. Putting this off and baby will sleep in pack in play in our room -buy baby items on registry with completion discount since I don't plan on a shower -buy carseat for dd2 so we get the infant seat back Still need to do but decided to buy for DD1 instead -make shit ton of freezer meals -gradually remind MIL several times over the next few weeks that we will not have visitors in hospital or home until after day 3 like we've always done -deal with silent treatment from MIL -prep newborn CD stash -sort baby clothes since I'll have managed to have children in 3 different seasons -finish playroom and girls room so they have a place to play outside of the living room -get home birth kit from midwife as a back up to planned hospital birth -find a tennant for basement unit -Hospital Tour *likely hire a weekly house cleaner for the month before to about 2 months after Opting for the one time cleaner -pack hospital bag and kids bags for ILs house
I think that's it but I always get sidetracked and DH always finds side projects so there will probably be pointless stuff come up like "paint bathroom" which is totally non essential at this point or "rip out dining room wall" which will just make more chaos for us. So I should probably add *reign in DH's house project plans until summer* Projects are falling into our laps, and they aren't the projects I wanted done, but such is life in a new house.
SO! Jan 12th edited PRIORITY list looks as follows:
-Buy DD1's carseat -Rearrange kids in their new seats and set up baby's seat -Have van detailed before switching up the seats (it's smelly from moving) -Hire one time cleaner (on IL's) to get house less gross before baby -Put together pack n play for baby -Bring other baby essentials inside (mats, soft carriers, etc) -Prep cloth diapers -Sort baby clothes -Buy essentials off of registry with completion coupon -Freezer meals -gradually remind MIL several times over the next few weeks that we will not have visitors in hospital or home until after day 3 like we've always done -deal with silent treatment from MIL (probably hire cleaner before reminding her...teehee) -pack hospital bags and kids bags -get home birth kit from midwife -Hospital tour -Find tennant for basement -try to breath and accept the renos I cannot ignore or change. -Pray a storage plan falls into our lap/accept that the nursery will be storage until the weather warms up so we can rip up and fix the garage.
You guys. It's so satisfying to edit my post and strike through completed items. I had a full on nesting weekend. Win!
So jealous!!!
Seriously. MH just scheduled another Saturday hiking trip with his friends for December. And I firmly told him it better not be too long because we WILL be working on our to do list afterwards. Grrrr.

I'm feeling pretty good about where I'm at. A bunch of my leftover items are either half-way accomplished, or can't be tackled until after the new year (insurance, leave and preregistration stuff). I'm glad I wrote all this down though so I can keep track!

I'm well ahead of where I thought I'd be at this point. I basically just need to deal with HR in regards to my leave, install the car seat bases (which I won't be doing for a few weeks), and pack a hospital bag. Everything else has been taken care of and ready.
