mustloveerica, I was told like mrsjene that baby would actually crawl to my breast and to leave it be. In reality, DD came out screaming and didn't stop, she was too upset to try and find anything. It wasn't until I was in my recovery room that the nurse just put her on my boob, just like mrsjene's nurse did. In retrospect, I wish I would have just put DD on my breast right away instead of waiting for the magic of the newborn crawl. Bringing her directly to the breast instead of waiting for her to find it herself had no negative impact on our breastfeeding relationship- her latch was fine, supply came in fine, etc. Ask a nurse for help whenever you feel ready to try feeding your babies.
Same here with the breastfeeding relationship. DD was a champ. Latched on right away and she had a great latch. Milk came in three days later. No real issues with supply.

How do I know if I'm leaking amniotic fluid? I can't tell if it's urine or fluid but I've been soaking thru panty liners the past few days. I drink so much water that my pee is pretty clear so it could be that.

From what I remember... (10 years ago) amniotic fluid is not clear. I would call the doctor though since you are so far along with twins and membrane rupture would require bed rest at the least, if not anti-natal ward admittance. Better safe than sorry.

I knew I was leaking because all day long I was getting wet spots in my underwear. So then to try and determine if it was pee or fluid I would go pee, sit for a couple minutes, the push and I'd get another stream of fluid. If you feel like catching it, like said above, it's not clear. You can always call your doctor too. They can test it quickly with a little pH type strip.

I'm getting all nostalgic because I remember interrogating you when I thought my water was leaking 😂

Thanks ladies! I didn't want to call just to have them tell me I'm peeing myself lol. But I also think I'm losing pieces of my mucus plug so I guess better safe than sorry!

Yes! It went from leaking when I sneezed or coughed to just constantly being wet. That's why I was starting to worry that maybe it's not pee.

Time to call. From what I was told, if you lie down for a bit then stand up, you will feel it come out when you stand*
*no personal experience as I had mine manually broken

This is what I heard as well. If you lay down then stand up and feel some, it may be amniotic fluid. It will pool while you're laying down and come out when you stand.
mustloveerica - Since it's a constantly wet thing, I would definitely call just in case.
Also, I do remember one thing- amniotic fluid had a very light and distinct smell to it. I can't describe it but I have never smelled it any other time

I called and I'm going in first thing tomorrow morning to get checked. they seemed more concerned about me losing my mucus plug than leaking fluid so we'll see. I just need to make it thru this last week of work!!!

Really the best way to know if you're leaking fluid or urine is to go get checked. But don't worry if you're just peeing yourself, it happens to the best of us.
<------ went to triage thinking I was leaking fluid but it was really just pee.

I mean I've been peeing myself for months so no shame here lol it only just because a constant leakage that worries me.
Also whoever said it has a strange smell....yes it definitely does not smell like urine. But again that could just be because I drink my weight in water these days.

That sounds a lot like what happened to me. I was also drinking a ton of water.
