I was up until past 11 making cake pops for DD'S birthday party today. DS didn't wake up until 415 so I got a 4.5 hr stretch of sleep! (I read until 1145) funny how I find that great after all the 1.5-2 hr stretches.
Just fed DS again. Need to get up and finish all the party prep.
Yay for sleep britta! I hope today is a better day for you. Happy birthday! hikingmama222, I hope the party goes well. I'm glad you were able to get some sleep too.
So N had a little piece of brownie last night and turned into the Tasmanian devil. I'm going to try an experiment of not giving him anything with sugar after dinner and see if that will help the bedtime situation. G slept from 10:30-4:15, then from 4:45 to 7:15ish. N slept past 7 but is still tired, I think. We are going to Disney on Ice this afternoon, then trying a new restaurant near the arena for an early dinner. The arena is near Bass Pro Shops, so I won't be surprised if we stop there too.
I hate not knowing what is wrong with babies. This morning, DS started crying and we had a really tough time getting him to stop for a couple of hours. He was inconsolable. He had just woken up from a nap when it started, but it wasn't his tired cry. He wouldn't take a bottle and screamed bloody murder if we laid him down. He was definitely not feeling good. I stripped him and checked him over and found nothing. He's been a drool machine lately and chomping on everything, so I thought maybe it's teething, so I gave him some Tylenol. A half hour or so after I gave it to him, it occurred to me that I should have taken his temperature beforehand, so I took it (rectally) and it was 99.8. So then I was mad at myself for not taking it before I gave him the Tylenol because it seems likely that his temp was even higher before. DH finally got him to fall asleep on his shoulder while walking around with him, and he took a short nap. He finally drank a bottle and is in a better mood than he was, but is not completely himself. If the Tylenol wears off and he has a fever and starts with the crying again, I think I might take him to the local walk-in urgent care place and have them check his ears. My girls never got ear infections as babies, so I have no clue how to tell if that's what it is.
Happy birthday britta! jwinct glad DS is feeling better now and hope he stays that way. We got a lot of snow. I've officially been inside this house for too long. I even did the daily ab challenge today. We have friends coming over, but I don't think I'm feeling it today. We even were a little snippy with each other over the phone which has never happened. I feel like a baby but I'm kind of upset over it. I'm blaming hormones. I've had some good days and some decent days lately since my really low point before and during christmas. I'm feeling a little trapped with the snow and cold. DD1 was super needy this am, presumably for the same reasons. And I'm just having anxiety about hitting low again, especially when I'm back to solo parenting for a full week tomorrow.
We started potty training DD around 5pm last night. She took a massive poop and I had it. I explained that pee and poop go in the toilet now. No more diapers. I told her that when she got that funny feeling she needs to tell Mom or Dad and run to the potty. I put her in big girl underwear and kept plying her with water. The first two times, we caught her in the act and got her on the potty where she finished on the potty. We made a huge deal of it. She woke up (in her diaper) and was dry! This morning, I again explained, where we put the pee and poop. She went pee 3x today on the potty with no accidents!

Well, the time has come. Last day of maternity leave. I have mixed feelings. I am ready to get back to work, honestly...and get back in our real routine (and have a paycheck again). But also sad because she still seems so little and I will never do this again. Just seems like the end of an era in a way. I know she will be fine, but I do wish I had more time to cuddle her.
He is happily playing in his activity gym right now, so hopefully the earlier issue has passed, whatever it was.
I just officially joined Weight Watchers (again). I would love to go to the meetings because I always have the most success when I do, but I just don't see that happening right now. Maybe if I find myself having difficulty staying motivated doing the online only, I can upgrade to the meetings and just go on Saturday mornings. I just weighed myself and I have 52 lbs to lose to get to my realistic goal weight.
Today is going better than yesterday. DS2 got up for the day around 9 and has only napped about a half hour, but he's not crying/screaming, so win? I just laid him down again. Maybe this time he'll sleep longer.
DS1 is down as well. I suspect he'll be up anytime. He laid down an hour ago.
I really fell off the wagon with eating the last couple days. Need to get back on track tomorrow. I also skipped my nightly walk last night after the shit show day I had. I need to get out tonight.
hikingmama222 good luck with the party today! jcrewgirl great success with the potty training so far!
My sister took DS out in the snow today, and he stayed out with her for an hour and a half! I was shocked he lasted that long. I just put him down for his nap, so hopefully he gives me a decent stretch. DD took a quick little cat nap (on the floor lol), so I am hoping after I feed her she is content playing on the playmat, so I can get some work done.

H was a zombie this am and couldn't wake up so his angel wife took both littles grocery shopping solo. No issues other than V deciding she needed to take off her top. She was in a great mood so I dont mind having to talk her out of toddler stripping. Its only taking me almost 3 months to go out with the girls solo but still .... I'm kind of a big deal
My stepmom wants to hang with #1 this afternoon so I'm going to drop her off after her nap and drop all my donatable clothes off at goodwill. Maybe do a little kon Mari-ing of my jewelry. This minimizing business feels good. Or maybe I'll just sit around with #2 and veg. Either option works.
ETA: being sick this week really allowed me to slack on working out. I also ate pizza for dinner and then the leftover pizza for lunch just now so diet is not doing so well either. Here's to Monday and getting back on track!
The MAM pacifiers I ordered arrived today. (They are never in stock at my Target.) I just offered one to DS and he didn't spit it out, and seems to like it! Let's hope this continues.
We went to church and then Mr. P's grandparents. We're going for a hike later despite "It being sooo cold out" in our upper 50s temps today.
What I would give for upper 50s right now. It's 18* here with a windchill of 8*. This is actually the warmest it's been in days. 😐
I know right! I think both parts of the East Coast crave those temps, North and South. Especially me since I grew up in PA. Mr. P's parents are from NJ and PA but have been living in FL for over 30 years now. I think they forget we loved days that were this... warm.
DH and I have been purging and organizing since we started talking seriously about selling/building. The other day he went through this old plastic set of drawers in our bedroom closet. He found an old handheld electronic Yahtzee game. We're supposed to be donating but...I just picked it up and played a game. I'm addicted.

penguin129, I didn't know you were from PA! MH grew up in Philly and his parents still live near the city.
So Disney on Ice was a success! N loved it and was so good during the show. G slept through a good chunk of it. I nursed him during the snow but it was awkward. He kept looking up at me like he was saying, "why am I under this cover, mom?" We ate at a restaurant near the arena that brews its own beer and does pizza. It was so good. G decided that would be a great place to have a massive blowout, so that was fun.
I had a great weekend with family visiting. Just a huge help and great company. I feel like I'm in a better mindset for this week at work...at least for now.
You guys have me itching to declutter. I have a bin of baby clothes to donate. Next I need to go through my stuff again. Then the worst of it--the toys.
smallpotato we did Disney on Ice last month and DD1 really enjoyed it.
My college friends couldn't make it down for my mom's funeral last week, so three of them drove 5.5 hours to hang out with me for 4 hours today just to turn around and drive back home. They brought me wine, did my dishes and helped me put away Christmas decorations. They are so sweet.

I grew up an hour away from Philly. We were between there and the Poconos. I taught in Philly for the 2009- 2010 school year and lived in Fishtown.
