TGIF! FX my baby comes home today! We're calling soon to find out how he did last night.
I've got a clogged duct that's been red and painful since yesterday evening. After warm compresses, hand expressing, and pumping every two hours, it's still red and painful. Praying the OB can get me in today to take a look. I'm worried I have an infection and need an antibiotic.
Also sad that if it is an infection I won't be able to nurse C immediately at home...
I'm giving a big middle finger to the universe. Thanks for the salt in the effing wound... Like seriously?! The day before he may be coming home?!

Can DH help massage? Maybe with his bigger and likely stronger hands he can work it out while you are pumping.

oldbaylover1024 FX your guy comes home! I'm sorry about the duct. That stinks. I hope you don't need any meds and can clear it up. ETA saw your update, so sorry.
AFM I'm feeling a bit better. Still in a lot of pain. It also seems like my output is starting to decrease, which I hope is only temporary and not from the antibiotics I'll be on for 10 days.
I'm also trying to decide if I want to try my first solo outing with Z. My LC holds a breastfeeding support group Friday afternoons, and if I ventured out I was thinking of swinging by the mall to look for a gift for a friend about to start her second round of IVF. In addition to the fear of the solo outing, I'm not really a support group kind of person generally. It's also been such a non week nursing wise between my injured nipples and the mastitis, but I do want to weigh Z...decision decisions.

I'm sorry, oldbaylover1024. Are you going to see him today? Can you nurse him there at least? Hopefully he'll still be released this weekend.
dancerspose, a breastfeeding group sounds like the perfect first solo outing - no one will care if you have to leave early or if there's a poop explosion!

Happy due date to my baby girl! I am fighting hard to remain cheerful about this. I might treat myself to a Starbucks after my appointment. I'm assuming we'll also get lunch, and then we're running some errands. I expect the appointment to go something like "well, she's not here yet, but it could be any time. We'll schedule your 41 week appointment now and at that we'll talk about a NST and an induction." FX grocery shopping gets things going. It worked for DS
Somehow my phone screen cracked this morning - underneath my screen protector. That's lovely. It might still be usable. MH is significantly salty at me for this. Probably because right after F was born I dropped my phone and shattered it, so this is not actually an old phone. And I apparently am super clumsy. I still don't know how this phone broke. I picked it up to check TCF and it was broken. Siiiiigh.
Also apparently none of F's toys are as interesting this morning as getting into every single thing he's not supposed to and doing every single thing he's not supposed to. I'm about to wave my white flag.

oldbaylover1024 - when I had mastitis with DS1 they wanted the him to nurse on that side as much as possible even with the antibiotic. That's what helps clear it out. Hopefully they'll tell you the same!!

ETA - I'm sorry he's not coming home today. Soon mama, soon!

oldbaylover1024 so sorry it's not today but I hope it's comforting to know he is in such great hands there and it will be soon! Praying for you. shawnabm1320 stinks about the phone screen! Get yourself that Starbucks. I'm at work this morning with 2 meetings and I need to hit the grocery store at some point. Last night I finally had some contractions every 6-7 minutes for a few hours and then went away when I fell asleep. This morning they aren't regular but def more painful. Feels a lot like how this all started last time. Not really getting my hopes up but maybe this babe will come on its due date tomorrow!

oldbaylover1024, sorry C isn't coming home today. I hope the clogged duct works itself out quickly.
My mom is coming today, she desperately wants to take DS1 out for a day, here's hoping he likes that idea. She needs some time with him, her dad is still in icu (3+ weeks now). His wife won't sign a dnr and he is on the vent, has a feeding tube in and a permanent port for meds. He's not going to get better and he is suffering. He's also 88 and lived a long life.
Last night was..not awful? DH finally came home at midnight and took DS for like an hour before he was screaming for more boob. So I took him and he camped at the boob until almost 4:30 then finally passed out in a boob coma so I could slip him into his PnP and we slept solid until 8. Now I'm feeding him again, DH never came back in the room, he's still in the couch, not sure why, it's not a comfy couch to sleep on if you don't have to.
PP question: I forget, when are you cleared to take a bath? I thought I remembered my previous doctor saying something about sitz bath only for X amount of time because of infection risk? My hemorrhoid is still killing me as well as my back so a bath would be great I feel but not at the expense of my lady bits.

And another beautiful day as a pregnant lady! The snow "storm" coming today had me convinced I'd see some action over night..I'm hilarious.
Ate a big pile of kettle chips before lunch and now I wanna yak. Guess my lean cuisine du jour will have to wait. Just counting down till I get to enjoy the weekend from the comforts of my bed and couch for two days!
crazycatlady6 hope you had a good OB appt and were given a little hope?!

wildflower810 - is there an extra seat on the pregnant and nothing happening train?
I am between 1-2 cm dilated with no contractions or anything else to write home about. If I make it to next Friday's appt then we will talk about induction but he doesn't do them unless you are 3 cm dilated or beyond 40+6 if you and the baby are doing well.
Good part is that I had lunch with DH today. As I was dropping him back off at work, he did ask me to hold off until Monday to go into labor. 🙄
We had our first peds appointment today! I LOVED the doctor and I feel so much better about her eating. She's up just over an ounce in two days even with her spitting up and cluster feeding during the day that's driving us mad. Everyone was so friendly in the office and L did so great in the car.
I actually got dressed today and feel like a human. I'm gonna take a shower in a bit and head over to BRU for a few things that we still need. Today is a good day.

Thanks, everyone. They're hoping Sunday for release. Maybe. Honestly, I'm not that optimistic.
And I have mastitis. Fuck the universe.
And yes, typically they would recommend I nurse heavy on that side, but my baby isn't accessible and, because of all the bottle feeding, he's a super lazy nurser. So I nursed him about 15 minutes on that side, but that's all I'll get today most likely.
Just fuck all of this.
ETA Oh yeah. And there's something up with his hand. They had an IV in there and assumed it was built up fluid, but now they want a specialist to take a look. It's probably nothing, but still... yet another thing to deal with.

I'm so sorry oldbaylover1024. I wish there was more I could say to make you feel better but I've been there and know exactly how you feel. When N was in the nicu I had to keep telling myself he's where he needs to be and if he left before he was ready that we'd be right back in there.

No progress here either, womp womp. Except baby's head is lower. Not exactly comfortable, but oh well. Id be lying if I said I wasn't grumpy about it. As I said before, trying to remain cheerful!
I'm kind of annoyed, though, about my next appointment. I had to schedule at a different office, which is farther away, but I also had to schedule 5 days out instead of 7, because they're so booked. It was either 5 or 10 days. We weren't comfortable waiting 10 days in case something was wrong. Oh well, I guess.
