March to-do (about nothing) list

What do you want to complete this month?

I just put in an order for some prefolds/CDs so now I just need to wait til Earth Day to complete my CD shopping.

I have my GTT tomorrow and then our hospital tour is this Saturday.

I think we are going to order the stuff on our amazon list in early April.

We are buying everything we need this month. I've already purchased the wall decal (birch trees with owls), we are buying the car seat and stroller tomorrow, and then in a couple of weeks I'll buy the baby monitor and the rest of the nursery decor.

We are doing our maternity photos in a couple of weeks as well.

I have way too many work projects I need to finish before I go on leave in 3 weeks. Eek.

Were taking the hospital birth class/hospital tour on the 11th, newborn care on the 21st and infant safety/cpr class on the 28th.

Help DH paint the dresser, changing table, and some decorative shelves for the wall.

Contact pediatrician to see if they are accepting new patients/get any paperwork done so that LO will have a Dr when he's born.

We're kind of at a stand still because I don't plan on moving DS1 to his new bed until April. But for March my goals are:

- get a new dresser for DS1
-get a twin mattress for the new bed
- get the spare bed out of the nursery (failed to do in February, whoops!)
- get big boy bedding!

Just switching out some nursery wall decor - I've done most of it already, since we are keeping the nursery 90% the same it was simple, just some prints off Etsy.

Tons to do at work but avoiding thinking about it, lol.

Have to talk with my nanny about her pay raise for when I go back to work, but I have til at lest August on that one...

Goals:

Get the toddler to sleep through the night again (he's like a newborn again with how much he wakes up lately)

Move toddler into brother's room to make room for new baby in our room.

Continue to dream of moving into a house with enough bedrooms to fit all the kids and I get a child free room

Redecorate C's big girl girl room (H and I both agree that now that baby's room is done, C's room doesn't look as good lol)

There are a couple cabinets in the kitchen I'd like to purge/reorganize

Keep up with laundry so I'm not stuck doing 3 or 4 loads at once

Start getting toiletries for hospital bag. I'm not planning to pack it just yet but I'd like to start buying the stuff I'll need. I'll probably pack it the beginning of April.

Finish nursery, which means getting accessories and wall decor
Get DD's baby gear down from attic, see what is still usable and clean it up
Wash all newborn and 3mo clothes and whatever we can reuse from DD
Purchase the "must haves" from our registry, which means a trip to Orlando or West Palm to go to BBB and BRU
Start thinking about what I want to pack in the hospital bag (will probably pack at the end of March/beginning of April)
Sibling class for DD at the hospital
Take DD to Seaworld one last time before baby boy (and summer) comes

I would like to get as much done as possible before the end of March so I have April weekends to just mostly relax before DS is born on (or before) 4/28.

Planning on buying a crib today - got my Target registry completion coupon today (shhh, I lied about my due date since the only thing I put on there is a crib!) so I plan to buy that since nursery items are $40 off $200 or more purchase so I should get my crib for about $150 when it's all said and done. I already have a crib but DS2 is only 16 months old and is nowhere near ready for a toddler bed, so I have to bite the bullet and buy another crib. Going super cheap and basic this time vs. last time when I bought a $350 crib. Yikes!

Then the only other big thing is to buy 2 (but at least 1) new car this month. We can't fit 3 car seats in either of our cars. They are leased and the leases are both up this summer anyway, but this is still a huge purchase that we weren't ready for - looking to buy used, but we are still worried we'll be saddled with huge car payments. Ugg.

Maternity photos on the 19th! Getting a 3D/4D sonogram this weekend as well. Can't wait to see the little guy on screen again!

This weekend: move all the furniture from the study and turn it back into a nursery again.
Next week: meet the rest of the midwives at the birth center and get the info I need about delivering there.
Next weekend: start on my freezer meals
At some point: finish tracking down all our loaned out baby gear. Maybe plan a vacation for some point while we're on leave.

We already have the clothing and diapers laundered and still have most of the stuff from kiddo 1, so I'm not in too much of a panic about what needs to be bought or done. I'm probably not panicking enough....

jennyelf yeah I washed all our nb and 0-3 clothes too, and even put them in drawers, so I feel way more prepared than I am

DS keeps getting up earlier every morning since we started the toddler bed/room this past weekend. Hoping it's just an adjustment and that trend doesn't continue. He takes a long time to go to sleep too, so was cranky this AM since I don't think he slept enough. My nanny will get a good nap out of him today...

Things we got done:
- nursery/guest room floor refinished
- breast pump ordered
- nursery closet cleared out
- crib assembled
- picked out most other necessary items that need to be purchased

Things to do this month:
- sign up for birthing class and hospital tour
- call pediatricians
- buy crib mattress and car seat
- paint desk in nursery/guest room
- wash baby clothes and start putting them away
- organize nursery closet
- read birthing book and research active management of third-stage labor

That's all I can think of for now but I'm sure there are more.

Depends on the store and brand, but some are definitely worth it

mostly in the realm of 10-20% which if you were planning on buying $100+ of diapers can add up to a decent chunk of change.

So I guess I need to add "Assemble crib" to our to-do list. We paid extra to have the crib assembled and when the delivery people came today, they had no idea they were supposed to assemble it, it was their first day on the job and they had no idea how to assemble it (didn't even think they had the tools). I called BBB and had them refund the assembly charge but it's still aggravating that we now have to do it. Hopefully all the hardware is there because they unboxed the crib pieces and hauled the boxes away. My luck we'll be missing something.

purchase a few more baby gear items and get back a few things we've loaned out

organize and declutter house

Cut dairy/soy from my diet....starting this weekend (history of MSPI with both girls) I miss cheese already

Get away to ILs for the weekend....the girls may go next month for a few days of spring break but it would be nice to all get out there before baby comes

Maybe sell a few CDs and pick up some new ones??

sleepymonkey, I'm glad they refunded you the money but that is really annoying. H assembled ours and it didn't seem like it was very difficult to do so hopefully yours will go smoothly.

PirateCat, I know MH can do it but it's just a matter of him getting it done in a reasonable (to me) amount of time. I am sure I will hear, at least once, "Well, he's not going to be sleeping in his room for a few weeks after he's born so there's no need to rush."

You should leave the parts unpacked in an inconvenient-to-him location. Like on his side of the bed.

C has been getting up earlier since we switched to a big girl bed in late November. Fingers crossed your DS will go back to his normal wake up time after he gets used to the bed!

Actually, the quickest way to get him to put the crib together is for me to start doing it myself. He'll instantly jump in and start doing it. He'll be grumbling and annoyed the whole time but at least it would be done.

Heh, that is definitely a good trick I have used myself. Grunting and heavy breathing while you pick up and move things around is always a plus.

tortor4 DH and I said the same thing about Hayley's room once we put the nursery together! Then DH got an extreme case of "Dad guilt" and spent the weekend re-painting her room, hanging up pictures, etc.

On my to-do list would have been finishing the nursery but now DH is so pissed about potentially moving that he refuses to do anything else. He keeps saying, "If I have to take that damn crib apart and put it back together AGAIN..."

I want to get MIL to take my bag of consignment items home with her and sell that to my fave consignment store in NJ.

Need to get a double stroller if no one buys it for my work or friends shower.

Oh and we're working on potty training DD. She's still young for it but her daycare thinks she's ready and volunteered to spearhead the process. Apparently she's doing pretty well with it there but at home is another story. Monday she pooped on the floor and DH swore he couldn't deal with it, was super overdramatic and gagging 🙄. Tuesday she peed in our bed. Yesterday I was too sick to think about it and DH decided to, as he put it, "just skip it" and kept her in a diaper. So clearly we're parents of the year here!

mcp6286, good luck with the potty training. They say girls are supposed to be easy but DD was not. We started trying when she was a little over 2 but she really wasn't ready until she was about 32 months. She is day trained now at a little over 3 but we still struggle with her waiting until the last minute to pee. She's fine with pooping but she thinks she doesn't need to pee until her bladder is about to burst. We deal with a lot of leakage issues because of that. And I think she'll be in pull-ups at night until she goes to college.

sleepymonkey. Don't worry about pull ups at night yet. DS was day trained (although we have the same wait till his bladder is about to burst issue sometimes) at 3ish but one stopped wearing pull ups at night a couple months ago and he turned 4 in Sept.
