The baby oooped sometime between his feeding at 4:45 and when I went in at 6:30. He didn't make any noise again- I went in to wake him up but he was awake and smiling and kicking his feet. This baby is just so stinking goodnatured. I can't even believe it. My first still moans and hollers when he wakes up- he was never a kid that would play in the crib and have quiet time. All new to me.
I need to start putting the monitor on my pillow when I go to tend to DS in the MOTN. This is the third night in a row where I've forgotten to turn it back on after I come back to bed. Luckily it's like only an hour or so before we all wake up, and he's never been crying or upset when I rush to check on him, but I still feel terrible about it.
I miss real BC. This IUD does nothing for my cramps and pain killers aren't touching it. As much as I love nursing, I kinda can't wait til I can get on the patch again. Do not like.
macaronmama, you turn the monitor off? Why can't you just turn the volume down?
The bag of BM that I was hoping would still be good had a gross smell. Womp womp. MH gets his spring bonus today, which means hopefully car shopping for real this weekend! I'm so pumped, but I need to narrow down what vehicles I am interested in checking out.
adouces06, force of habit to save the battery - the one we picked has an awesome monitor, but the battery fades quickly. Turning down the volume would still be the same issue - can't hear him. I think Imma throw on the pillow.
Yay for YH's bonus - what cars were you looking at again?
macaronmama that stinks about your monitor. We are looking at the Kia Sorento, Ford Explorer, GMC Acadia, Hyundai Santa Fe, Chevy Traverse, and Toyota Highlander. So basically a crossover SUV with a third row option.
Happy Women's Day! I've worn red the last two days unintentionally but luckily still had some red to wear today.
DS2 slept much better--woke up around 3 to eat, then again at 5:15 because I have no idea why. I didn't give him the paci at bedtime so I wonder if that helped. Definitely trying it again tonight!
macaronmama can you leave the monitor charging all night? I can see leaving it off the charger for naps but our monitor battery would never make it overnight.
Is there a reason you wouldn't hear the baby crying without the monitor? Leaving the monitor off is nothing to beat yourself up over. Especially for only an hour.

I just read these articles the other day and they may be helpful for you. I'm not in the market for a new car, but it's never too early to start researching options. I love my CX-9, but the 3rd row is basically useless, so I've been starting to look into what the best 3rd row vehicles are. DD1 can't even sit comfortably in it anymore, so it stays down all the time. I love my car so much, so I'm super disappointed about that.

Neat. We will be in the market for one of those eventually.
That's annoying about the monitor macaronmama. It can't be plugged in all night? Bummer about the milk adouces06 but good luck on the car hunt! It's amazing how different each kid is becole! I would say our second is much more laid back than our first too. Thank. Goodness. Well DD2 slept until 6 am. First time in a lonnnng time. I'm so grateful. We have a play date coming over this am. Then my mom is coming for a couple hours so I can get out alone. Not sure what I'm doing yet. I have a hankering for Panera and I may go by myself. I got a 40% off code for kohls for today only so I want to order some summer clothes for DD1.
Oh, and DH and I both turn the volume off on the monitor when we get up with the baby. Even on the lowest setting, it's super annoying if one of us is trying to sleep and there's noise coming from the monitor. I sometimes forget to turn it back up, but it's not that big of a deal. If the baby gets pissed enough, we'll hear him! lol
adouces06 - I thought I'd share this, too. We just had the same car discussion on a different forum I belong to and I thought you might be interested to hear some of the comments that were made.
This is the original post, asking for recs for a larger 3rd row SUV:
"I've been driving an Acadia for 6 Years. I love it. But my lease is up. the buyout is too high and I did not like the newer Acadia model At all. I'm going to look into an Enclave and Explorer. anything else I should check out?"
Replies:
"I can only offer advice from the three models we test drove when we bought our Acadia a year ago...
Explorer Sport- Great pick up! Horrible visibility- I hated the way it felt looking out the windshield/drivers position. 2nd row 3 seats, had to fold down to access the 3rd row (2 seats)- which was tight!
Toyota Highlander- Nice features, capt seats. I don't like the way it feels/handles. DH had a 4Runner for many many years before and I never liked the feel of driving that either.
Acadia won out for the smooth ride, great visibility, capt seats, 3rd row roomy and elevated to create extra space. Sucks to hear that previous Acadia lovers don't like the new model.
We have a close friend who is on his 3rd Jeep Grand Cherokee and loves it- my coworker also has one and loves it."
and
"I got a new Traverse in the fall. It is still the same as the older Acadia. I found the Pathfinder too small and couldn't find another 7/8 passenger that I liked as much as the Traverse. I really needed an 8 passenger."
and
"We have a 2016 Explorer and love it! It's primarily DH's car, but I love how it drives, it handles much nicer than his previous 2006 Explorer. When we bought last year, we also considered the Acadia (older model, I am assuming similar to what you have) and the Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Explorer is def. larger than the Jeep (I don't believe the Jeep even has a 3rd row option, if that is something important to you). While I liked the Jeep, the Explorer won out for us."
and
"If you need a 3rd row, I think the Explorer or Traverse are both great options. My search this fall included those, the Acadia, and just about everything else you could think of across the board for price to compare it all.
I did really like the Explorer - probably would have gone with that, but I decided against the 3rd row and went with a Jeep Grand Cherokee, which I LOVE."
and
"The same thing just happened to my neighbor .. she loved her Acadia, but the lease was up and she did not like the new Acadia at all. She now has an Enclave and really likes it."
and
"I have an Explorer. I love it but DEF, I repeat DEF, get Captain's chairs because legit it is so hard to get into the back compared to my Pathfinder."
Thanks jwinct! That's helpful. I want third row and captains chairs in the second row. If we go with the Acadia, it would probably be a 2014-2015 model. I currently drive a Jeep Patriot and it is SO tiny. I def need more space with two kids in car seats, a husband who is 6'2", and a 70 lb dog!
The reason we don't leave it on the charger is that our only available outlet due to awkward room layout isn't within reach of the bed. I prefer to have the monitor right next to me on the bed stand. And when I am asleep asleep, I won't hear him wake up down the hall til he's legit screaming. DH won't hear him at all.
+1 to thanks for all the support ladies. We have made a nice little place here in O16. So many people complain their bmbs are dull or full of drama. We're right in the middle and I enjoy it.
Happy Women's Day. All you ladies are great inspiration and support! Thanks for all you do.
Ditto!
I'm wearing red today
I told everybody to wear red yesterday then in the morning rush forgot myself. But most people had no idea what I was talking about so I figure the dialogue is just as important.
They didn't have me feed O over lunch yesterday, but when I picked her up she'd only had 5 oz and some cereal all day. I think I'll feed her over lunch today even if she takes her first feeding okay.

Yeah, that is a small car for all that cargo! We're in the same boat. I'm 5'9" and DH is 6'4", plus we have 2 lab mixes and 3 kids. My CX-9 is starting to feel a bit small and it's really not small at all.
The one thing that is super appealing to me about a minivan is the sliding back doors. I would really love that feature. The doors on my car are so big, it's so easy to wack the car next to you in a parking lot and I'm constantly reminding the kids not to throw their doors open. That could seriously be the selling factor for me when I'm ready to buy a new car, as much as I really don't want a mini-van.

Happy Women's Day! The boys and I are in red today (well, N's shirt has red stripes, but I'm counting it). Last night went better. I put G in at 10:30, and he started crying. He and I spent 2 hours sleeping in the recliner until MH came in to put us both to bed. When G went in, he whimpered for a few minutes, and then put himself to sleep. He slept until I woke him at 6:30, and was all smiles when he got up. N is still dealing with his cold, so he's not feeling great either.
We keep the monitor at the same volume all the time. We probably don't really need it since G's room shares a wall with ours, and our house is small, but whatever. The only time it annoys me is when MH goes in and talks to G in a louder than normal voice. I always try to keep my voice down when I go in since the monitor is on MH's side of the bed.
I have an Equinox and would definitely move up to a Traverse when the time comes. My car is in the shop today getting the repairs done for it to (hopefully) pass emissions. I just hope it's not too expensive.

I have MH's car (Hyundai Tucson) today, and I think it's the first time I've had to drive it with the boys. That backseat is tight for the two car seats. MH wants a pickup truck when we're ready for a new car, but I am nervous about back seat space for 2 car seats.
We're gonna go for a minivan next year when we get a new car. When we rented a Pacifica in Florida in January, I fell in love. Apparently it's not offered in AWD, but I think the Sienna is, so we'll see when the time comes. I'm not into minivans at all, but they drive so nice and the doors/space are amazing. I figure I'll deal with it for 10ish years.
Correct - the Sienna is the only one that you can get with AWD (which is silly, IMO), so I have a feeling that's the one I would get. I can't imagine not having AWD in the winter.

If he gets a truck with a full backseat, it's not a problem at all. MH has a Lincoln Mark LT (discontinued), which is the Lincoln version of the Ford F150 and his backseat has more room than mine. We put the Britax Advocate in his car because it's huge and it fits fine, with plenty of space for the girls to sit back there, too. There's more than enough room for 2 carseats, for sure.

DH got a Suburban last September and I have to admit that I am IN LOVE with it. I wish it was my car. I drive it a lot over the weekends and it's amazing. That thing is like a school bus but it actually drives very well and I don't feel uncomfortable driving it in any way.
So the dress I got for this wedding this weekend- I realized it's not nursing friendly and I'll have the baby. Like I would need help unzipping and zipping to even go nurse in the bathroom... any solutions to this or should I go find another dress?

How many times do you expect you are going to need to nurse and when? I'll still most likely say find another dress though. I hope they have a nice bathroom with a lounge for you to nurse in...

+1. We went to a wedding when N was 3 months old, and I did not think of needing a pumping friendly dress. I ended up basically stripping from the waist down to pump in a very nice storage room, and then had the groom walk in on me. MH had to unzip and zip me up. Super fun. I'm already planning what I'll need to get for my nephews' baptisms in June.
