Do you have to use fmu on the ovulation tests? Or a specific time each day?
I would do twice a day, morning and evening. I'd make sure that there was at least 3-4 hours from when you last went. I've gotten negative in the am, positive in the pm, and then a negative the next morning. My temperatures were always more accurate for me.
I say this with a grain of salt because I've done terrible with charting since having DD1. With her though I was spot on.

Nope. In fact, I've read you're more likely to get a positive in the afternoon. I used wondfos so I didn't care how many I would go through so I used to use one a day to see if there was any darkening one day to the next. When a line started to get darker, I would do 2 a day to really make sure I got a positive. However 2 things which you might know already
1- even if you get a positive, that just means you caught your surge but you may or may not actually ovulate and
2- if you're worried that you might miss your surge then if you do see a gradual darkening just start having lots and lots of sex!
