I'm so excited to be off work for a week after today. I'm getting TF out of here as soon as the afternoon bell rings, which is something I haven't done all year.
I wish I was off tomorrow. I'm such a leave hoarder. I have leave but I'm trying to work over and save it all up so I can use credit time when we go to gatlinburg next month and save my annual leave. I need to just take off and enjoy the boys and stop worrying about getting my leave balance back up.
I'm torn between buying a bounce house and renting. Renting is like $200-300 depending on what you get. I could buy a cheap one that would only last toddler years for like $200. I could buy commercial grade for like $1000. What to do...
I wanna take some time off, but wanna have some paid weeks during my fmla so I'm trying to save it. I took 1.5 weeks last year so I could carry the other 1.5 weeks, and so far this year have only used two days - one when DD was sick and then one day this week for PT. Seriously lame.
I'm a day late to wed wtfs but I had one come up- I asked H what he did with DD while I was at the comedy show... and he said ride the lawn mower. Ok, sure for a little joy ride, ok. But no, he mowed the entire lawn with her on it. Umm did it ever cross your mind that it wasn't the safest idea...
becole I think mom2boxers had luck with bidtfa online auction for getting a deal on a bounce house
I saw the one she had one amazon for less than $200. I'm like do I just buy it since that's less than a rental? But then if I'm buying it, I want something large enough for the next 10 years or so. Amazon has some $500 up to age 12 or 100 lbs per kid. Or commercial grade around $1000.

If it's only for birthday parties and special occasions, I don't think it's worth it to buy a commercial grade one. And I'd be so pissed if I spent that much and it got a hole or the fan broke or something. We don't regret buying the small one, but we have an empty basement where we can leave it out all the time. And I'm still considering renting a big one for his birthday because of the weight limit and stuff. And when you rent you have more options. I thought the one you got last year was cool with the ball pit. And there was one at H's company picnic with a huge slide. It's nice to have those options each time you pick one to rent.

My thought was that I would get it out on the weekends for the kid since they're pretty easy to set up and use. So it wouldn't just be for special occasions but it definitely wouldn't fit in our current house. I also like the options they have. I was looking at some Pretty cool ones but some are pretty expensive. Ugg. I hate spending money on this kind of stuff but I also know it's like money well spent when it's all done.

I read this at least 3 times before I realized you put BOUNCE house. I kept thinking, WTF is she talking about 200-300 for a rental, maybe she meant more than a mortgage???

becole We have the lil tikes one and I love it. I got it on sale for like $150, and we pull it out on the weekends. It's a good size for two little kids to jump around on it, and since our yard is small I like that we can disassemble and store it easily in a big tub. I don't think I'd want to have the huge bounce house for normal use because it'd be heavier and more of a pain to set up. I was actually thinking for E's birthday I'd rent a bigger bounce house and set up the smaller one too so little kids can bounce separately.
Also, since it's less than $200 if it gets a hole or I upgrade later, I'll probably feel okay about it as long as I get 3-4 years of good use.

I just tried to post a picture of our bounce house so you can see the size with kids in it. Then I scrolled too far and saw pictures from my c section. My eyes! I'm not sure when I'll be ready to look at those.

I think I would be this way in a typical PTO job also. Of course there are pros and cons to it, but it's nice having "forced" vacations as a teacher, knowing that I'm not missing anything and won't have a mountain to catch up on when I go back.

Has anyone gone to tunes and blooms at the zoo? It sounds like a good time with music, but I'm wondering if you get to walk the zoo and see animals?
I've never been, but I was under the impression the whole zoo was open. We tried to go a few times last year and it always rained the days we planned on it.

vlagroupie the anesthesiologist took them for both kids. He kept insisting that we would want them. My H stayed on my side of the curtain, but he may have peeked over with O. JoBub Yes! So gross. Also, really weird.

Oh man, they didn't mention that for me and I would have said no way lol. MH did watch over the curtain so it's burned in his memory. But he didn't seem to care.

Yikes. I don't think I could handle seeing that. But I think I'm more squeamish than most. I was also 100% opposed to having a mirror or anything of the sort for my own delivery. The doctor was like "do you want to see your placenta?" and I was like "OMG NO."

Wow wasn't asked and H did look. No way to pictures probably would traumatize me.
I was listening to a podcast recently and they were telling the story of a surgeon who had to remove his own appendix. I had to turn it off because I literally thought I was going to faint while driving just listening to the description.

Like no anesthesia on a dessert island or what?
I think he had supplies to be able to numb the area and stuff. But it was at a remote location... I'm blanking on the word... but they were a team of scientists studying something. It was maybe like Antarctica or something, and they knew that once they got there, they would be on their own for like 6 months. He was the doctor on the team in case anyone else got sick. But then he got appendicitis and he was sure he would die if it wasn't removed, and nobody else knew how to do it. So he sort of trained a team of people to assist, and gave instructions for what to do if he lost consciousness, and then he just did it himself.

He should have just brought some IV antibiotics.
Yes I thought the same thing. But I also think this was a story from a few decades ago, and I think at the time everyone thought ruptured appendix = death always. And that's not so much the case anymore.
