Probably not as relieved as most it's Friday. We have a busy weekend - retirement party, Earth day festivities, helping my aunt move. And no time to cross anything off my to do list.

So glad it's Friday, although really since I'm not working nothing really changes except DH being home more.

The roofers finally finished at 6pm last night. The garbage bin just needs to be picked up and all will be back to normal. Well we do still need to write a very large cheque...

Meeting some friends for a picnic and playdate at the park around lunch. It's raining right now so hopefully it clears up and warms up a bit. DD has cabin fever pretty bad and is bored from hanging out with me most of the week. She thrives on social interaction. Glad school starts up again Monday.

What does that mean anymore when you have littles lol. You get to spend time with them and not go to work but not much else is different. I really want a relaxing weekend.

We have a memorial and a birthday party to go to tomorrow. I have one assignment I'm working on for the paper and another I proposed to the paper. I managed to post in my blog 3 times this week so that's good. I don't really have any followers, but I like it just the same.

becole Yeah, I've got the kid, but at least I don't have to factor in a commute to my day. That's a sad win for me.

DH is so sick he's home sleeping, which he never does when he's sick cause he's stubborn. Hoping this weekend is enough resting time to get back on our feet by Monday.

Off from work today because of my teeth. My mouth is sore but it's manageable with OTC pain meds. I am so hungry for actual food. All I've eaten since I had it done is scrambled eggs and soup. We're going to Target to take advantage of the car seat trade in and get G new seats. My ILs are coming tomorrow for the night so that should be fun.

N has been a pill pretty much since he woke up at 5:15. I really hope he'll nap so I can nap later on. G has been good, but he definitely has another tooth close to coming through.

At work. It's fun night at our school tonight so DH is bringing​ the girls out after school. DD1 is so excited to go to a 'party at Mommy's big kid school.'

Friday is just not the same with kids...but I'm still glad to at least get a break from work. We have a busy weekend though.

We're actually going out for lunch today as a department, mine and another co-workers birthday are exactly two weeks apart (his was last Saturday and mine is next Saturday) so we are splitting the difference and celebrating today - and another co-worker of mine brought in Publix cupcakes with cream cheese icing and OMMMMGGGGGGGG they are the best.

DH has his last regular season game tonight - hallelujah no more gone 3 nights a week. They do start playoffs next week but they do a double header the first time so there is a chance he'll only be gone one night next week.

DD's dedication is tomorrow at 10am (our church does them on Saturdays now? Whatever). We had to write a "vision statement" for her and I got all teary-eyed reading over what DH and I came up with. I have a feeling I will cry tomorrow. I got the boys tickets to see Disney on Ice at 5pm tomorrow. I wanted to do a little something special for them that's a total surprise, they have no idea we're going. I'm hoping in between the two things, I can take a nap.

Meh. I work tonight 3-11 and then work Sunday 3-11. Weekends no longer have any meaning to me.

Both kids are currently napping. Its been an interesting morning. DH is at some "Working at Heights" training course and I have to get ready for work. I'm so tired as everybody was up at 530 this morning.

My in-laws arrived on Wednesday night and took E out of school yesterday and today to do fun things - yesterday was a quick ride on the Metro to the harbor, boat ride, lunch and playing on the play ground. Today is a movie (not sure how she'll do w/that - she's never been to the movie theater). H went to school both days because, well, he's a baby.

I went to CVS and Easter candy is 50% off so...I may have bought a few bags. I managed to make it to the gym 3x this week. I'm counting that as a win. I have a hair appointment tomorrow for a trim and I plan on leaving early and staying late because DH has help with his parents here. I'm hoping to sneak in some shoe shopping. Tomorrow DH and I are going out on a date. We haven't been out since we visited my mom at Christmas. I need to work on finding a babysitter so we can do these dates on the regular.

My boss seems to have developed a habit of sensing the second I wake up and calling me while I'm still in bed waking up. So that's been delightful.

The baby was up 3x last night. I'm tired. He needs to get over his cold so we can sleep train him.

I cannot focus on anything except the toddlers attitude and the baby's lack of sleep. I feel like I'm going downhill emotionally. becole And others who were posting yesterday about the trials of parenting and toddlers in particulat, I'm with you. I nodded my head to so much of what you all described. I'm barely finding myself able to keep up here dealing with the two of them alone all day every day. But I just wanted to say add me to the list. You're not alone. Every single act of every single waking moment is a fight nagging bribing threatening time outing whining crying tantruming mess.

I cannot imagine being home with them all day sanibel21. I would literally work part time just to pay for part time care for my own mental health. I couldn't do it.

Grilled cheese and a chocolate fudge brownie milkshake for lunch I stopped by city hall and found out the media pack for the meeting I'm covering was just gotten rid of yesterday. I'm going to try my best with what I can make out from the audio. Did I mention I really enjoy working? Even if it is a story a week or so. I love having something to work on other than just the house and taking care of the girls.

I'm always trying to gauge where I am on the spectrum of how parenting is affecting me.

Sometimes it does. It definitely affects my marriage. I'm so exhausted by the end of the day. We have sex like once a month and it's on a day that I take off from work and the kids are at school. I was talking to a friend and she still struggles with how it affects her, personally, and her son is almost 5. It's hard. It's exhausting. No one gives you a pat on the back when you had a particularly good day or says "it's okay to cry" if your 3 year old hits you when you pick them up from school. Parenting sometimes just sucks. I wish I had something more encouraging to say. I'm being honest. Sometimes I struggle with it, but the good days usually outnumber the bad days.

I wonder if there is someone out there that can view his behaviors and make suggestions that will work. But it's hard to replicate the behavior because he acts totally different out or with strange environments. I am really trying to understand his drivers. I've realized sugar is really hard for him to behave with. H and I discussed cutting all sugars. We're going to try it this weekend.

Yes, DH and I have realized that screen time, sugar, and missing naps really just fuck with DD. We try to make sure she always naps, limit sugar and screen time - which again sucks, because on a Saturday morning, I just want to drink a HOT cup of coffee and throw DD in front of the TV. It's all about balance. 

I heard something that rings so true though - your kids act out with you because they trust you. They know it's a safe space. It's a mind fuck.

Yeah there is no missing naps here. On a day he lays up there and won't fall asleep- we are all so screwed.

+whatever to needing to find a good babysitter to have date nights. Our current date nights involve the kids. Or beers in the driveway after they go to bed.

I'm not super excited it's Friday-I'm working tomorrow, but it should be a decent (and hopefully short) day. We have no plans, just cracking down on house projects as we get closer to listing our house. The weather is supposed to be nice, so hopefully we can get outside.
