I'm up for a MOTN feeding. DD decided a couple of days ago that she will only fall asleep and stay asleep at night if I'm holding her. She'll fall asleep nursing or while I'm rocking her but then as soon as I put her in the RNP she wakes up. Once she's been asleep for an hour or so, I can put her down. DS went through a months-long stretch like this, so I'm kind of terrified.
Ugh I feel your pain Krispy. It is awful not being able to truly sleep because you have to hold your LO. Our pediatrician gently told us it wasn't a good idea to fall asleep with her on my chest. I said I understand but I needed sleep so it was happen whether I wanted to fall asleep or not. Thankfully with a swaddle and a pacifier we can put her in the RnP at night.
Do you have a swing? I know some mom's have success getting LO to sleep in a swing.

I feel for you ladies. My sweet babe has decided that every 3 hours she would like to be fed. However about 30 minutes prior to feeding she starts making pterodactyl type noises so I'm getting about an hour and a half stretch between feedings... I'm exhausted, but now listening to her sweet coos and breathing as she falls back asleep is worth it.
I have a hair appointment today and am soooo pumped (I'm actually going to stop using the word pumped because I feel like a cow whenever I pump) -- but I am really excited to get my sexy on and cover these roots!
ETA: when LO had a cold a few days ago, the ONLY way to get any sleep was to sleep with her on my chest-- I put her inside my tank top and put pillows next to me and got some good sleep considering she wasn't feeling well.
My LO has decided that he wants to nurse forever. He'll nurse and fall asleep and as soon as I burp him he's starving again and back on the boob he goes.
DS's umbilical cord is about to come off but it looks awful. Its just holding on by one little section and I am so scared of hitting it or having it catch on his clothes. My daughters fell off on DH so I didn't see it in this in-between state.
Last night I had my first glass of wine in a year! It was amazing! I am planning on having another one later while watching HGTV and making my husband's springtime renovation list a little longer.
boxerrrmama85 omg, I actually have been calling DD2 a pterodactyl! Too funny! I know exactly what you're talking about.
My spam: It's DD1's two year pictures today. I hope she smiles this time. 1 year pics were rough. Also, my family actually scolded me that I was getting them done too late. She's 2 years, 2 months...I think that's pretty darn good concidering the holidays and carrying/birthing a human being.

I told H last night that apparently I gave birth to a pterodactyl.
Kiddo didn't sleep at all last night. I'm so exhausted.
Question inspired by miniwheat: DD2s umbilical cord fell off yesterday but it kind of broke off so there were bits still "in" there. We don't see the doctor again for a couple weeks. We picked out some of the bigger crumbs still left and put alcohol on it bc there was a gross spongy looking spot...do you think this is okay? Should I do anything else?
DD1 had a beautiful, clean break so this is all new to me...

I am over my pity party from yesterday. I think I just needed to have a hissy fit and get it out of my system. School is closed again today because everything that melted yesterday refroze overnight and the temps won't get above the 20s until Saturday. I'm not convinced that we will go back tomorrow either because on top of the roads not melting we will have negative 15 windchill. Southerners can't handle that!
The good news is that I missed this last week of work. I won't go back to work after tomorrow since my due date is Monday. I have an appointment on Monday to discuss induction if I don't go between now and then. I'm crossing my fingers that labor will happen naturally.
Ladies, I'm loving all the pictures and stories about the outside babies. I'm so ready to snuggle with mine.

Your description sounds like what DD's looked like when hers fell off. I didn't pick at it and eventually the rest of the scabs fell off on their own. I wouldn't fret unless it becomes red and looks infected or is bleeding a lot. DD's did bleed a touch several days later, but we never saw frank blood just the scabs at a diaper change.

LO has not been a good sleeper for the past two nights and I'm exhausted. What happened to a few weeks ago when he would sleep at night for 4 hour stretches? Now he's up every 1-2 hours wailing. But during the day he sleeps like a rock. *sigh*
The only thing that makes him stop crying is being held in my arms and when he's on the boob. Can't wait for this "fourth trimester" to be over.
DD has been half asleep but wiggling for the last hour and a half but now that my butt is numb and my boobs hurt because she should eat she is out cold.
boxerrrmama85, I got my hair done yesterday and it was heavenly!! All I talked about was my baby though. People who only talk about their kids always have driven me insane. Now I am one of them. oh no!!!
Today I am having 3 wisdom teeth removed. I'm so nervous! I can't eat for 6 hours before the surgery (at 1 pm) so I had to wake up around 6 to eat breakfast. Then I pumped and had a small second breakfast right before 7. I am a hungry hungry hippo so this is going to be tough. At least I can still drink coffee and water until 2 hours before. I'm not looking forward to being in pain and still having to take care of mommy duties. Real life stinks.

looks like baby is cooperating and I will get to see Wicked tonight! woo hoo!!!
we are supposed to get the record for the coldest Feb. 19th ever today (high is like 27* - record is ~36*) - and something like a whole 40 hrs below freezing. we have had dripping taps and open sink cabinets for days it feels like (after our frozen pipes last year H is super freaked out/cautious about it now - so every time the overnight temps dip below freezing we drip taps)
Did anyone's outside babies sleep last night? It seems like none did.
Raises hand. Last night was better then the night before, but its really day by day how much he sleeps. Then again right now, he is being super cranky. My mom is dealing with that so I can eat and shower

DS's did that also, hanging by just a thread at about 5 days. I pulled it. Then googled and found out I was not supposed to do that. Oops. I just watched it to make sure it didn't get red/stinky or anything. When we went to the pediatrician they put something on it, which is still peeling off, but said it would be fine on its own anyway, this was just to be super sure.
SS2's mom came to get him almost an hour before she said she was going to, texted me once saying she was on her way and by miracle I woke up to the second text saying she was here. I texted her right away saying SS was still sleeping and the woman ends up banging on my door two separate times for waiting at most 3 minutes. She woke up DD's but thankfully not LO. Either way I didn't greet her too nice and let her know she woke up DD's. But seriously what person- no, what MOTHER bangs on someone's door early in the morning when they know there's a newborn inside and other children who might still be sleeping?!

Excited to see birth announcements & in labor posts every day!
My older sister who lives on the other side of the country (Oakland, CA) is coming into town today to stay for 2.5 weeks! I'm so excited! She'll probably split her time between staying with me and staying at our parents' house (~15 miles away) depending on what DH & I feel like (and LO whenever he shows up).
Seeing her will make up for being awake on and off last night feeling like LO was trying to break my pelvis. Trying not to get my hopes up that means he's coming early / on time. I keep telling myself most FTMs deliver after EDD to try to stave off disappointment.
mels823 hope your wisdom teeth surgery goes smoothly & recovery is as quick as possible
AppropriateChocolate T&Ps for an easy delivery & a healthy baby! can't wait to see the birth announcement!
