What is everyone up to today? Any fun weekend plans?
Weather permitting I'm hosting @sing2phins and @mx2 for tea at my house. I'm also debating making the trek into DC on Sunday to the Native American Museum because they are having an "Art of Storytelling" session which would probably be interesting.

That sounds so sweet and fun! I hope the snow stays away.
My in laws are coming today and our cleaning lady cancelled because it's too cold to to leave the house. It was -7 when I left these morning so I can't say that I blame her. She was supposed to come on Wednesday but also cancelled that day because it was too cold. I'm slightly annoyed.
@elvk583 I could understand if the roads are bad, but being cold isn't a good reason. Plenty of people are at work today in the cold, right?
Yup, I'm at work and the roads are fine. She's an older lady and does a really good job for us so I'm trying to be patient. If my in laws weren't coming I would be okay skipping a week. MIL is a stickler though and will make comments all weekend on how messy the house is. That and the dog hair.
morning! Weather forecast this morning says less than an inch of accumulation! So, hopefully we will still make it. It's about an hour and 2o minute drive for us. Shouldn't be bad on the way up, but we may get stuck there
We have an extra bedroom and a pack n play. We are also having bad movie night tomorrow night so if you did get stuck you could join in! I mean we can't have you driving home if the weather is bad.
Not much going on here. Roof stopped leaking (yay!), work is going bananas, trains still aren't running, and I'm working at home in my robe. The train thing is annoying, but it's really just nice to not commute in.
Evan figure out how to push himself on this seated train toy he loves this morning. He was so proud of himself, and was grinning from ear to ear. I just want to gobble him up when he smiles like that.

Y'all are so fancy! Are the little ones invited or is this a moms only event? Hope it's fun!
ETA I used an apostrophe to pluralize moms. I AM ASHAMED.

Morning!
kellykinns a tea sounds lovely! I would love to do that with my girlfriends... First, I need to find girlfriends.
MEK, my thermostat is set to 71. It's 66 in here, it just can't keep up. I can't wait to see my bill this month.
I'm drinking my coffee and the boy is sitting next to me coloring. He's not staying inside the lines. We're headed to bootcamp this morning and then we have an exciting day of laundry. We're headed to my mom's tonight. We have my great aunt's 80th birthday party this weekend. It's on the less savory side of the family, who my H has never met. So, that will be interesting. Hopefully, no one is packing.

Kids invited. the three of them can play and we can be fancy in our comfy clothes. I'm excited to get to use some of my China. Cherhorowitz Next time I'm in your neck of the woods we will do tea. We are totes girlfriends.
Have fun at your fancy tea party, kellykinns, @mx2, and @sing2phins. If we ever defrost, maybe the tri-state ladies can meet up for tea. Or booze. Probably booze.
Good luck with the offer, mwhipple77. And have you considered tying up your nephew, tgrimes1980?
C had a rough night and I once again woke up to some disturbingly negative temperatures, so I rolled over and got an extra hour of sleep and will run on the treadmill over lunch. Tomorrow is supposed to be pretty brutal as well, and we've got an 8-9 mile run planned with running group. Somehow it seems reasonable, since at least I won't be alone in my suffering and/or frostbite.
Super jealous of the tea party. Are you going to watch Downton? That's when I do my best tea drinking.
We're going to the gym today and then I don't have much else planned. Tomorrow is our symphony date. We're getting dinner at a Turkish place that's up for a few James Beard awards. I have yet to be blown away by a restaurant here so we'll see.
No big plans this weekend. Taking one of my dogs to the vet tomorrow morning for his annual check up, and then M goes to the ped for his MMR (back to full health now, yay!).
Other than that, nada, laundry, cleaning, the usual. Plus wine. I'm definitely drinking wine this weekend.

Hi. I'm sorry I haven't been contributing much lately. I try to follow the threads but by the end of them I'm just too exhausted and too much information to formulate any type of response.
In fact I think I'm on the brink of snapping in general- right here on this F-ING commuter train. I'm just so over this commute and work right now. The trains keep getting delayed, I've been spending 6 hours each day commuting, I'm constantly warding off frostbite waiting for said trains, I've spent about 1 hour each day with my LO and it's getting ready in the morning, I completely missed bedtime last night due to trains, and I'm just tired and pissy and so over this!
Ok sorry for the rant, but if it wasn't Friday I would just take a personal day and stay home and drink!
Oh and we all got a lecture last week about how we have to try and get into work and not just work from home.

**Trigger Warning** Like Huge Trigger
There was a 2 month old that died a few months ago in a local town and they are getting around to the trial now. They can't figure out who is at fault. The parents were both drugs (mom had drugs in her system when she delivered).
It breaks my heart you guys. It makes me want to take in all the little babies that have no other choice in their parents and give them happy homes.
untaggablekatie, ugh. So, so sad. It makes me wish there was a test given to people before they're allowed to reproduce.
This.
I have such a harder time now reading the news. We were having a group lunch at work yesterday and one of my coworkers started talking about a local story involving a kid, and me and another coworker/Mom asked him to stop, mid-sentence. It just gets my anxiety going and I think exactly what Katie was saying - I just want to save all the babies. Just taking care of C could never be enough.
I agree JoeLies I used to roll my eyes when my mom would get upset talking about a news story or a friend of a friend. I'd be like- you didn't even know them! But now I get it, and I'm a mess about all the stories now.
This does not mean I am becoming MY mother, I say to reassure myself, just A mother!

Hi all! Hope you're all staying warm...it's cold here by FL standards...got down into the 20s last night (I know most of you are rolling your eyes and thinking that's a heat wave where y'all are;)
We survived our first day and B slept really well. He's currently intent on removing all the forks and spoons from the drawer and distributing it around the house. I try not to lock him out of too many drawers and cupboards (other than ones where there is breakable or dangerous stuff) but it might be time to put a child lock on this one.
We are heading to my parents' in a bit for lunch and to check out the progress in their master bathroom reno. I live vicariously through them until we can do ours:)

Thanks vinolove that's sweet. I'm still on the train, but I'm hoping for a productive few hours at work and an uneventful commute home to my LO and a bottle of wine!
I am actually looking forward to the weekend. We are painting the ceiling in our bedroom (ladystrat fun huh!) and installing 3 new light fixtures! ( two on the bedroom, one in the living room)
I can't wait for it to be all done! It's hopefully going to look awesome!
