We have popcorn ceilings. Has anyone ever done the job to scrape that off? I'm wondering if it is something we could do ourselves. Start with a small room and work our way up to the living room, but do it in small patches so it won't be too much....idk....all I can picture is dust on EVERYTHING!
Morning! I am so impressed with you ladies who paint. I tried it this summer-- MH and I painted his small office and it took forever and was super messy. Kudos to you!
Still sick here -- making chicken tortilla soup and watching last nights tv while Josie naps. I guess we're gearing up for more East coast snow, so I will also bake a little. Snow apparently equals more food for me.

Hola ladies! We've been busy over here and I've missed y'all. Haven't read a thing yet, but before this thread popped anymore, I thought I'd burst in.
We are checking out toddler beds. Ava can climb out of her pnp and crib with little effort. I'm positive we'll be making tyne switch within two weeks.
More importantly we are salmonella watch with her. 12 hours down, 60 more to go. Last night she may have put rocks from her cousins turtle cage in her mouth. The nurse line I called was barely helpful. They kept trying to send me to poison control even though I kept telling them my SIL does not put anything but water in with the turtle. Plus, the nurse seemed not to understand how you get salmonella from a turtle and put me on hold to Google it. I called my grandpa who gave me more info. There is just no letting this kid out of your sight for a second!

We did it ourselves when we bought our house. My dad has a special technique.
He basically put plastic over all the floors and walls. Took a hose in the house and sprayed the ceilings with water. Then just start scraping! The water makes it so much easier but it is a pain in the ass.
I think you're actually definitely supposed to use water, because it limits the dust you breathe in.
klongoria11, how old is your house? Some popcorn ceilings, depending on when they date to, have asbestos. I'd make sure you're being safe with masks, etc., and that C isn't in the house when you do it.
I'm getting ready for work and then LO has his party for our Gymboree's move. They will be closed a little over a week so I'm trying to figure out what we are going to do. We are suppose to get rain this weekend so I'm happy about that but the cancels my plans of going to the park. Maybe a museum? Any So Cal moms with any ideas?
Hibernate because you know how the roads get with them SoCal fools with any precipitation!
kamakaziartist I hope you're family is officially out of pukeville.
@chrisy_01 How is your head?
I still have the cluster headache but it's manageable. I just don't take all my meds at once like the doctor recommends so I don't get too bad at work. Thanks for asking
Cluster headaches are the worst. I hope it goes away and you're feeling better!

mishkaroni in college my roommate got me a little turtle for my birthday, his shell was about the size of a quarter- he was sooooooo cute! She had to go to some shady place to get it because turtles that small aren't supposed to be for sale because kids will put them in their mouths and get salmonella.
He used to always escape his home- I called him Waldo!
One day I was never able to answer the question....sad

Google this first. I've heard it is the biggest pain in the ass, plus depending when it was put up, asbestos

@88sharonlee, I posted in your 529 plan post in the group -- figured you might find it useful since we just looked into this and are in the same state.

@peachsmama That is great! The thing about it is, you don't have to decide to have a career there or in banking. Do you have the opportunity for it? Sure. In a year you can reevaluate where you stand on it when it gets closer to the point of becoming full time. You may love being there or you may hate it, but you don't necessarily have to decide that now.
Yeah! @peachsmama that's great! Sounds like a really good opportunity, but I agree with others that you'll have a better feel for what workload you can/want to handle when that time arrives and the new branch is ready to be opened. It sounds like she likes you a lot and maybe you can work out a full-time reduced sched like 32 hrs per week or something similar. Cross that bridge when you get to it. In the meantime, it all sounds great!
I wouldn't stress about the career aspect now. If it's a good opportunity, and they offer it to you, and it will make you happier than at your current bank, take it. If they want to promote you and you're not sure you're interested, you can discuss it with them at that point.
@klongoria411 I would never attempt that project, but we aren't really into DIY stuff. That's something I'd hire someone to do.
It's a quiet work day so I'm working on a learning tower for A in my down time. His separation anxiety is out of control. He pushes himself between my legs and the kitchen counter, demanding to be held at all times. The minute he gets home from DC until the minute his head hits the pillow he is literally on top of me at all times. I love the snuggles and kisses, but it's getting exhausting.
kellykinns the tea sounds fun! Hope everyone makes it.
I have sort of a weird question: what resources are you guys using to get an idea of evaluating knowledge/abilities at this age? I'm not sure how to ask this in a way that won't trigger anxiety about milestones.
LSS, DC is crediting A with knowing some colors, counting to three, etc, and I'm not sure that's appropriate. I think what I'm asking is, how can I tell if he really knows how to 'count' to three, like he understands the numerical concept, or he just remembers three comes after two?

Hey everyone-
I haven't had time to catch up on anything, and I know I've been MIA this week so I hope I didn't miss anything big! It's been a crazy week. We have something potentially big going on with my middle son and his health issues. I think it's going to be a good thing but I'm scared and excited and apprehensive all at once. I know that is super vague, but things have been happening really fast and I"m still trying to wrap my head around everything. I would love some good thought sent his way, just that we make the right decisions for both him and our family.
In other news, I demand that all of you who drink have a drink with my tonight and for the next three nights because it's my birthday weekend!!!! 31 on Monday!! Eeek!!!!!
I'll try to catch up on everything later…. will someone let me know if I missed anything huge that I should know about? Like pregnancy announcements or anything?
cagoldi. If I say one Luke will say two but its just memorization at this point. He has no concept of counting I'm fairly certain.
Thank you, that's what I'm thinking also. I was hoping a STM would chime in, because I don't think I can really say he 'knows' numbers at this point. Colors are different, because those are memorization, but numbers, I just don't believe it. Thanks.

Eta: daycare used to send home the assessments and how the decided where to place each kid. Maybe your DC will give you something like that?
We have the ASQ, we just finished the most recent one. Those types of questions weren't asked at this age though. It was more like motor skills, verbal ability, problem-solving, that type of stuff. He's been in the 18-24 month room for two hours each day, and goes to the Pre-K room a few times a week. I can tell he is learning more since he's been with the older kids, but still don't think that he can grasp numbers right now.

cagoldi Cadence is the same way after dc. I don't know if she is just exhausted or hungry or just needed some 1 on 1 TLC since there are more kids in her toddler room then there were in her infant room. It is sweet and all, but not necessarily when I am trying to cook dinner. She won't even go to MH at those times. She kicks and screams and then runs back to me. Def. exhausting.
Happy Friday girls! I'm apparently a 13 year old girl today. I completely soaked through my super plus tampon and super pad through my jeans! I'm mortified! Thank GOD I have the kids writing an in class essay today, so I don't have to stand in front of anyone, for extended periods of time. I have the lights out so that they can "better see" the PowerPoint guidelines. The goal is to stay inside of my room until everyone has left the campus. I, thankfully, had the sense to wear dark jeans today!
