So... I've said it before on UO. I hate baby talk! I think it's inappropriate to encourage talking in such a manner to small children.
My MIL talks like that to DD. Granted she's only just under 1 mo but I don't want any bad habits starting on either side. Now I need to figure out how to bring it up to her.
Any parents out there having to have this conversation before?
It is so beautiful out, spring has sprung in WA :-D
My sisters name is Kiana and my youngest when learning to talk called her nana and it stuck. So when people try saying look it's Nana coming I correct them and say no it's Kiana. I cannot stand baby talk to a child who is learning to talk.

Haven't had to address this yet, but I would definitely shut it down as soon as possible. As an elementary school teacher, I know this can cause speech issues that will not be cute when they grow up. Just tell them that babies learn by mimicking and that is not the example you want to set. Bad habits will be harder to break the longer you let it go on :/
Since he was born we have been giving C a pacifier when needed and though he likes them for a minute he would always end up spitting them back out. We started with the Soothies from the hospital then used the Avent ones that were DD's favorite, then tried the Munchkin Latch ones. We were having the most luck with the Avent ones but I decided to try out the Mam ones after seeing that those were working for other babies. Success! I gave it to him today and he keeps it in his mouth and is happily sucking away! Very glad I decided to spend the six bucks to try one more kind.
Ds is 3 weeks today! He also slept 4 hours in a row, tmi to follow....too bad I had the runs in the middle of the night so I was awake for a couple of hours. I finally gave in and took an imodium, hopefully that wasn't bad.

I'm trapped on the couch by a sleeping almost 5wk old baby. It's funny how somebody so tiny can rule the whole house. I've tried to put him down twice only to have big eye's looking back at me. I guess I'll just stay put.
Target was full of rude peopleand employees. LO won't nap for more than 30 minutes at a time. And went to change the baby and came back to my cat eating the turkey off my sandwich. I am not liking today.

These are the best! One night when LO was screaming bloody murder we literally ripped open every brand of binkie we had been gifted and tried them all. The MAM were the best shape and actually small enough for her to hold on to. She choked on many other kinds. I just bought two more packs so we have them scattered around the apart just in case haha
I am excited just DD and I are going shopping while H stays home with DS. First outing since I had DS with just DD, I miss spending alone time with her

I am so jealous your babies will take a pacifier. We've tried them all - MAM and gummis included - she won't suck on any of them.

I'm trying desperately hard not to be snarky in my old pregnancy loss Facebook group from my 2nd and 3rd children. She had an ultrasound at 12 weeks and is saying how the tech isn't 100% sure about the sex so they aren't telling. I'm just trying to bite my tongue because seriously... 12 weeks... And someone else is like, if it was a boy you'd know! SMDH... 12 weeks... My emu's have ruined me for LYFE!!
I have 4 little bears, just like my name says. 2 girls 2 boys ages 8,5,3, and my newest babe. 2 of my little bears have life threatening food allergies, feel free to ask me more about that!

One of my Facebook friends is pregnant and kept talking about the baby's gender reveal ... it took a lot not to say anything or post the genderbread graphic.

Same here! My BIL and his wife are expecting another (their daughter turned 1 on my original due date). She was 13 weeks when the tech said that she thought it was a boy and my BIL proceeded to call EVERYONE and tell them. They had their 16 week today and I guess the original tech was right because my BIL says they have a clear picture of a penis but I still want to strangle both of them!
Edit: because I know you both will get a kick out of this. I was tagged in a shared post on Facebook of the woman who posted a rant towards anti-vax people after she found out her infant was exposed to the measles during a check up. I had some "free spirit" people try to "enlighten" me on the "facts" of vaccinating. A friend of a friend even had the nerve to ask me why I would risk my child getting autism (yes they said "getting," like it's catchable). I proceeded to rip them a new on with actual facts about autism and let them know that I work with autistic children and if my daughter did develop autism it wouldn't make me love her any less. Still kinda heated about it but I'm proud of making her feel like a douche! Lol

They should really make a vaccine for autism. smdh... I saw someone tagged a cousin of mine on an article claiming all kinds of peer reviewed studies still claiming a link. I just think that, like with food allergies, all these bogus studies are not helping to find the real resolution to the problems (like people who use dishwashers are more likely to have allergic kids than people who wash by hand... I'm not even kidding).

Well this might be long... LO is 7 weeks old. Since we have been home from the hospital my husband has changed maybe 10 diapers, got up for 2 motn feedings then proceeded to yell at me because he couldn't handle it. He spends no time with him unless I ask him to, when I need to do something but it's usually only for a few minutes. Now he can't comfort our son because he doesn't know how. Today he was holding him and just crying. He had been fed and clean diaper. I was trying to tell him to snuggle him more since he just had him laying out on the boopy. He got made and says, "I've tried that. You just take time." And he hands him to me as I'm setting up to pump. 30 seconds later he stops crying. I guess I'm feeling extremely sad because he's only 7 weeks old and my husband is already being shitty about taking care of our son. I'm just lost in all this. I try to bring it up and he gets pissed, leaves and when he comes back he acts like nothing happened so we get nowhere!
Wine and donuts for those who read all that! (Possible typos from angry typing!)

Yeah, some guys just don't do the baby thing well at all. Hopefully he will get better at helping when your son is a little older. Even by 6 months some dads get better. They seem to need the baby to give them positive reinforcement in order not to get frustrated and give up... Yeah, good thing there are moms. Though not all dads are this way. I'm lucky, my dh never was. But that's not to say he doesn't still get frustrated sooner than I do. In other words, it'll get better. Just like everything else.

Mine was a lot like this with my dd. I remember one night I was trying to cook dinner and she was crying so he brought her into the kitchen and held her against my back while I tried to cook. I was so annoyed. He will hold babies but generally just sits there with them and doesn't pay much attention to how they like to be held. He changes some diapers too but not many. I will say that as my dd has gotten older, he has gotten way more involved. The two of them are really close and he is great to do fun things with her all the time. Some guys just don't do well with babies but he will most likely come around.
4littlebears and llambrose thank you guys. It's good to hear we might make it through this. I just hope I am strong enough to get us through this. I feel like I'm being drug through the dirt. And I don't mean the stresses of having a baby.
