What kind of childbirth/delivery are you planning?

As of right now - what are your plans for delivering your LO? 

Are you planning to deliver in a hospital, at home, birth center, etc? And will you be getting an epidural, no epidural? Vaginal delivery, c-section, vbac, etc?

Repeat c-section at a hospital.

First time around, I planned on vaginal delivery with epidural at the hospital. Didn't happen that way...

I'm going to have a repeat c-section. I was hoping for a vbac but after talking to my OB and learning that I have a "T" shaped scar that has a greater chance of rupture and that DD became stuck in my pelvic bone, it was decided it would be safer for both myself and the LO if I have repeat.

Hospital birth definitely but I'd like to TRY to labor at home for a bit when the time comes (we're 10-15 minutes away). I told this to DH and he did not like that idea at all lol. I'd like to do a vaginal birth without induction and I'm open to an epidural. As a FTM I'd like to see how I tolerate my body actually going into labor before I commit to an epidural one way or another. And episiotomies freak me out so a big no to that.

The teacher at my birth class last weekend was saying that it's now the standard for hospitals not to admit you until you're 4-5cm dilated (rather than 2-3 like it was in the past). So obviously it depends on the mom (I know women who got to 4cm in the matter of an hour) but for most FTMs it will take quite a few hours to get there. My point is your DH should probably plan on you laboring at home for a while, unless you move super fast!

Hospital birth, vaginal delivery pain meds will be as needed. I wasn't induced last time but they pushed the pitocin and I won't allow that this time unless it's really necessary this time which is wasn't last time.
That is the plan but I know things don't always go as we hope I just really don't want a c-section because of the recovery.

This for me too. I didn't want an epidural my first time around, but knew all bets were off when I had to be induced almost 2 weeks late. Ended up getting one, and I'm glad I did. Those pitocin contractions are no joke!

This is a good point. IF I have to be induced I will absolutely want an epidural.

Unfortunately, you may not get to make that decision. If they need to get baby out as quickly as possible, this may happen.  I know most people would rather tear on their own, but sometimes things beyond your control are happening.  

Not trying to be snarky, but I would hate for you not to expect all possible outcomes and be disappointed.

FTM, I am hoping for a hospital birth, hopefully vaginally. We are about 45 minutes away from the hospital so as we get closer I need to talk with my doctor about when we need to come in to the hospital. I want to labor as long as possible at home, because I feel like I will be more comfortable. Hospitals make me anxious whether I'm a patient or someone I know is a patient so staying out for as long as possible is the way to go for me. We take our childbirth preparation classes in April and I'm looking forward to seeing the birthing suite they have in the hospital. I'm hoping it will be a little less anxiety provoking. I'm hoping to be informed about all of the pain options and play it by ear.

The "plan" is a hospital birth, med free vaginal. I want to be able to move around (intermittent fetal monitoring and no epidural) and do not want an IV (allowed to eat and drink as I wish).
Who the heck knows what baby's plan is, so I'm not married to my "plan" but in an ideal world,baby girl would cooperate with me and I would get the birth I'm dreaming of. Yeah right;)

Has anyone ever labored in the tubs at the hospital? They look divine, but I'm curious. Do you go in naked or wear a suit? They don't let you deliver in there, so I don't see why you can't wear a suit.

Planning to deliver at a hospital. Would love a vaginal delivery and I'm not playing the hero, so if I needs me some meds, I'll take them!
However, if we require a c-section or any other interventions to keep either one of us safe and get him here healthy - BRING IT. I'm planning on delivering my son as healthy as I possibly can. Whatever that means at the end of the day.

My understanding is a bra/sports bra/swimsuit top if you would like, but no bottoms in case they would need to check you while in the tub or shortly after you get out.

Same here! I told DH I hope I have enough time to fix my hair and make up (ala tatersalad) before we head to the hospital. He looked at me like I was crazy, but IDGAF

Fingers crossed for a natural vaginal birth in a hospital. I'm not completely closed to an epidural, but I'd rather try to go without. I have no idea what to expect, though, so I'm being flexible.

Planning on hospital birth, med free, vaginal. First labor was about 36 hrs, second was less than 5 hrs, so biggest goal is getting there before LO falls out of my crotch in the car. Good thing it's less than an hour drive

This is EXACTLY why I went epidural the first time.  As soon as I heard "pitocin" I asked the doctor for an epidural.  He actually laughed and said I should try to hold off, because it could slow things down (since I was 0% dilated and 0% effaced and the kid was up around my neck in terms of descent).  However, they ended up starting me on an epidural earlier than "needed" because the pitocin contractions were coming so fast (even though I couldn't feel them) the baby wasn't getting time to recover between contractions.

I get that and I know they need to do whatever it takes when the time comes for mine and Baby's safety. I'd be ok with it but only if it were absolutely necessary. I think I'm just traumatized because a few years ago I had to have something lanced "down there" and the OB took a scalpel to me with no numbing agent or anything. It was the only time in my life I've ever truly felt 10/10 pain (crying, screamed, all that good stuff). Not fun.

I can't speak for anyone else planning to go med-free, but I can promise you my decision is not due to a hero complex of any kind. And also I'm pretty sure all of us would comply with a c-section should that be necessary. And that all of want healthy babies, and that is our top priority in making our decisions. 

Sorry I know this is a touchy subject, but the tone of this just rubbed me the wrong way.

I had an episiotomy with my first, and tore with my second. Stitches are stitches, and itch like hell. As far as the pain goes, they numbed me before the episiotomy ... But not the tearing! So don't worry about it, that's why they recommend cold compresses and witch hazel
