AW here. I was sent to a lab for mine where the lady apparently found the blood draw so routine that she decided to talk on the phone the. entire. time. I originally thought she was just prepping supplies, but she stuck the needle right in and kept on talking while switching out three different vials. Said "all set sweetie, bye!" and continued her phone conversation. Bonus points for not answering the phone multiple times earlier in the day when I tried to call with question. Anyway, I passed so I guess I shouldn't complain. Just found it SO unprofessional!
One of DH's good friends is a surgical urologist. I can't even tell you the number of times he's answered the phone DURING SURGERY. Seriously? That's what voicemail is for.
The nurses often hold the phones for the surgeons. And/or there is often a lot of down time in the OR waiting. and/or a resident is doing the actual work.
DH's phone and pager go off constantly. He can't ignore it bc what if a formerly stable patient is crashing on the floor?
If none of those are true, then shame on this guy.
Also, shame on the phlebotomist. You should report her.

Did my 1 hr yesterday morning, and got a voicemail from my nurse this morning saying to call her, so of course I was freaking out. Talked to her 30 minutes later, turns out she was calling me to tell me the results were normal (HOORAY), and that I'm anemic. Oh noes, I shall have to take the little red pills. At least I can still have bread!!
Tapatalk is telling me I can't vote in the poll, but just wanted to AW because I found out today I passed!! I was so anxious about it because I failed and had to take the 3 hour with DS and it was just miserable. I was shaking by the end! Yay yay yay all the ice cream for me!
I had my test on Tuesday morning and it's Thursday now. My doctor's office said that they will only call if I failed so I'm curious, how long did it take you guys to get your results after your test?

I took my test on a Monday. The results were uploaded to my online health record on Wednesday, but I didn't hear anything from the office until Thursday.
I am up here taking the 3hr right now. I am not feeling too horrible as I am allowed water and can walk around. And there is a nice comfy recliner in case I feel the need to take a nap. So no where near as bad as with my DD.
I had to take one at like 9 weeks or something because my moms a diabetic and my number was 70 that time and this time I'm at 99. Yay
With my first, and my early test this time around they took about 2 days to get results. This latest one my MFM rushed since she wanted to do a round of steroids, but only if it came back normal. So I had results in about 1.5-2 hours.

I have another two weeks until mine, but am really hoping I pass the 1-hr test! It's my first time doing a glucose test and I have no family history of diabetes. Since this is the non-fasting one, I'm curious what those of you who passed the 1-hr ate before your test? I'm also planning to schedule it for the morning, but did any of you ladies do it in the afternoon?

Mine is in two weeks. I had seen an OB with my last two pregnancies and always had to go into the office fasting before the test. This time I am seeing a CNM she said it's fine to eat the morning of just to make sure it's a high protein low sugar/carb breakfast. Brush my teeth right after and rinse my mouth. Then I am supposed to drink the whole drink at home about 30 min before my appointment (I have 10 min start to finish to drink the drink). Then they will do the draw at exactly 1 hour after I finished the drink. It will be interesting to see what eating before will do to the test.

I had my 1 hour test this morning and the nurse called this afternoon and yep, I'm a big, fat, failure! UGHHH!!! I wasn't expecting those results at all
I am doing the 3 hour tomorrow. I am doing it first thing in the morning and taking the whole day off of work. At least I'm getting a 3 day weekend out of this BS....

They recommend just eating protein before the test. I only had eggs and water before my test but I still failed. Mine was at 9am in the morning. I have no history of diabetes in my family. That's the fun thing about getting GD during pregnancy, you can be low risk and still get it. It has everything to do with the placenta.
I had my 3 hour this morning and it was not fun. Drinking 100g of sugar on an empty stomach and then getting pricked 5 times (had to stick me an extra time because my left arm tapped out) was not enjoyable. They will have my results in tomorrow, but depending on when my doctor has time to review them, I may not hear back until Monday.

Before my other two (1st pregnancy, and one early this pregnancy) they were first thing in the morning and didn't eat before... I just got food to eat afterward
This time, it wasn't until 10am, and the nurse told me to eat, but nothing sugary (of course, and I didn't eat any/much sugar the night before either, just cuz)... That morning I had scrambled eggs with spinach and tomato, and bacon.
I ate around 7am, drank the drink at 9am and blood draw was done at 10.
mrskblack11 that sucks that you had to do the 3 hour - I hope it comes back ok. Did they tell you how far off you were with the 1hr, or just that you failed? Either way, I'm sorry!

I failed by 17 points! My 1 hour draw was 157 and you have to have a 140 or under to pass.

Ugh! This sounds miserable. Thank you for the feedback about what you ate. The nurse at my OB suggested carbs, like an English muffin or crackers, but I figured that eventually turns into sugars so thought I'd ask you guys.
Just found out that I failed the 1-hour and have to go in for the 3-hour. OH, YAY. JOY OF JOYS.
I'm debating whether I want to practice being careful with what I eat this weekend or if I'll just say "fuck it" and try to enjoy food for what could be the last time for a while.
Apparently there are two groups that have different pass/fail guidelines. My office follows the National Diabetes Association's testing guidelines so I passed. She didn't give me the name of the other group but said their guidelines are much stricter and I would have failed their test.

I'm so jealous. My office uses the stricter guidelines and I failed 2/4 tests by less than 5 points.

Just got the call that I failed too. A big fat 175.
I'm on the fuck it train. If they can't bother to call me until the end of Friday after three days then they can't be too concerned. Gonna eat all that bread while I still can.
I compromised when we went out to eat at an Italian restaurant tonight. No pasta, but I had a garlic knot and some bread. And yeah, I was annoyed that they didn't call me until the end of Friday, either.
I'll probably finish off the container of rainbow sherbet that's in the freezer this weekend. Just in case.
Failed my 1 hour today by 1 Flippin point.. 141... what BS. My clinic wants me to eat a special diet for 3 days and then fast at night. 4 th day in the morning go in for the 3 hour. Ugh.
I'm sitting in the waiting room for my one hour test. I go back to get my blood drawn in about 20 min. I'm a little frustrated because I called yesterday to see if I could eat before, and the receptionist told me it was fine to eat as I normally do. Well, I'm no idiot, and I ate eggs this morning...not OJ and toast or cereal. When I got here, the lab tech tells me I probably should have fasted. Oh well. What's done is done. We shall see shortly!

Something similar happened to me - I asked my OB if I needed to fast for the one hour, and she said just avoid pastries and cereal and stuff, that eating something "high protein/low carb" was fine. Then when I got to the lab, the tech was all, "Oh, you didn't fast?" <_<
So I'm reeeeeally hoping that fasting will let me pass the three hour. And I plan on eating healthy the day before just to be on the safe side (even though it allegedly doesn't make much of a difference).
amber311, that sucks! The same thing happened to one of my coworkers last summer.
I had my test yesterday afternoon, and passed! I love that my clinic posts test results to their app right away and I got to find out if I passed the same day. For anyone who also has a mid/late afternoon appt, here's what I ate that day: Honey Nut Cheerios for breakfast, a few veggies for a snack, a banana another hour or so after that, and 2 eggs with butter, salt and pepper about 2 hours before my appt.
Good luck to everyone who still has to take their test!
I FAILED MY ONE HOUR. My doctor must use the stricter guidelines, because I was told I had to be 130 or lower to pass.
I had a 131. Seriously.
I go back for my three-hour Wednesday morning. I had already taken Thursday and Friday off for a trip with hubby, so I just took Wednesday off too. At least now we can leave early.
