I failed my one hour. I go in on Thursday to do the 2 hour (in Canada and the lab sheet says 2 hours.) they didn't tell me how badly I failed just that it was a little high. I guess we'll see
I FAILED MY ONE HOUR. My doctor must use the stricter guidelines, because I was told I had to be 130 or lower to pass.
I had a 131. Seriously.
I go back for my three-hour Wednesday morning. I had already taken Thursday and Friday off for a trip with hubby, so I just took Wednesday off too. At least now we can leave early.
My doctor uses the 130 guideline too. I was doing some research on this and it sounds like the 140 catches 80% of women with GD, and the 130 catches 90%. So my math may be really off on this, but I think that means only 10% of the women who fail at 130 fail the 3 hour, which means you have a 90% chance of passing the 3 hour.
Thank you billyhorrible! I was pretty bummed about it. I did some reading too, and it said the 130 guideline has a higher false positive than the 140. So hanging onto that for hope. Especially with Easter looming around the corner and all the yummy jelly beans on the shelves.
My one hour is on Saturday morning and my doctor told me to eat protein beforehand. I need to hit 130 and I'm hypoglycemic, so I'm pretty sure I'm going to fail it anyways. OF course my sugar will spike with a sugary drink!

Yayyyy i passed! Different units because my figures were 4, 6 and 6.6. Basically those numberd all sat in the middle of each normal range. Just Vit D is teeny bit low.

Failed the 1 hr with a 156 but passed the terrible 3 hr draws with flying colors. Don't eat toast before the 1 hr even if your OB says wheat toast is fine before the screening test. I think I would have passed the screening if it weren't for that.
Passed the 3-hour! The doctor said one of my three drawings came back slightly elevated, but the others were fine. So I just have to keep an eye on my sugar intake, but no real restrictions, no meeting with a nutritionist, etc. Phew! One less thing to worry about!
I passed the 1 hour... Nurse said I got 120? And limit is 135. I am a little confused at all the different numbers, but I'm just going to go with it! Which is good, because my meat aversion is back for some reason, and all I want is carbs.
Question: I notice some of you mentioning having the drink in advance, but my doctor mentioned nothing about that and I assumed they would give it to me there. Did the rest of you get the drink when you showed up to the lab? Does that affect the amount of time that I should expect to be there for the test? I just want to be prepared and make sure I can do it when I plan to go.
My OB gave me my drink, had me drink it beforehand and then report to the lab 40 minutes after I finished it so they could draw at exactly 1 hour. It was nice this way because I didn't have to sit around and wait. However, I have heard a lot of others get the drink when they go for the test...I think a lot of doctors are just different!
Either way, you have to drink it within a 5 minute time frame. If you drink it at the appointment/lab, you will have 5 minutes to drink it, wait in the waiting room for 1 hour, then have your blood drawn.
Still not sure if I passed the three hour . Hopefully I will get the results back soon and they will be good news. The nurse told me for my one hour that I could drink anything just not eat... I thought well ok and I had maybe half a dr pepper that morning because that's all I had besides water. It was like two hours before I drank the drink so I was hoping I would be ok.. Nope I failed. 140 was the cut off. I got a 161. I hope it was the dp and that I passed my 3 hr test... I don't want to give up all my yummy bad food.
Went for my glucose test and normal OB appointment, my morning went like this: go to OB and do my thing, they tell me it's time to get my tetnis shot, poke #1, leave appt drink glucose drink, go to lab for blood draw to make sure I have a negative blood type for my Rogam shot, poke 2, go upstairs for Rogam shot and wait for 45 mins, get called back downstairs for my glucose blood draw, poke 3, go back upstairs, wait close to 2 hours for Rogam shot, finally happens, poke 4. No food or drink this entire time. The only positive is that I passed my 1hr test! I still feel like a pin cushion.

Failed my 1 hour with a glucose of 152, but I'm pretty sure I passed my 3 hour (based on my assessment, I have access to my labs), with 77 (fasting), 167 (1 hr), 140 (2 hr), 77 (3 hr) - hooray! I did have a drop in my Hgb from 12.7 to 10.9 so I'm suppose to start Iron - boooo

I passed!!! Mine was LOW at only 63 but my dr was not worried. I was actually worried about failing as the nurse kept telling me I was at high risk for gd due to family history.

I passed, all my numbers were delightful. I was going to share what my midwifery practice standard is (because it's a little strange, lol!)
Every other appt is with a group of moms, some partners too, all due within a few weeks. It is KIND OF fun/interesting. We had the gtt at our last group visit so we all had to fast and get the blood draw at the beginning then drink the drink. It was the 2 hour test so we got another blood draw an hour after and then an hour after that. All the while we got to chat about pregnancy and birth and all that fun stuff. As you can imagine there were times some of us would be woozy or feeling ill. I guess it was an okay way to pass the hours.
The funnest part was the med tech who couldn't get my veins. I had to have 7 pokes for 3 draws and 4 of those attempts were in my hands. I still have bruising after a week.

The lab has always made me drink it there. It needs to be finished in a certain amount of time and they watch me do it.

DH just looked up my test results and I passed with a 96. I had to be under 130.
My urine sample showed interesting things though, we'll have to wait on the culture to see if it means anything. (red and white BC in my sample). Fun times!
I did the two-hour fasting GTT on Thursday. (Like PPs, my hospital no longer does the one hour. They go straight to the miserable one.) I passed, but my numbers seemed reallllly low:
Fasting: 82 One hour post-drink: 71 Two hours post-drink: 76
I thought it was weird my one- and two-hour numbers were lower than my fasting number. (And also... 71? Was I dead?) I'm not concerned enough to email my doctor about it; I figure she'd tell me if something's "wrong." Just curious whether any of you had similarly low numbers--or numbers that decreased after having your drink. Or any general insight/explanation.
I had a similar experience.
Fasting : 74 1 hour: 84 2 hours: 73
I took the same view as you did: if there was an issue my doc would have said something. Although it does make me wonder if I may be slightly on the hypoglycemic side at times. I'll ask my doc when I see her next, but for now just try and respect that when I'm hungry or suddenly incredibly tired it probably means I should make the time to eat sooner rather than later.
I think I passed the 3 hour! Haven't officially heard from the doc but my numbers were as follows: Fasting: 101 (a bit high which is concerning, I hope she doesn't make me redo the test later on) 1 hour: 170. (Normal range 70-180) 2 hour: 144 (Normal range 70-155) 3 hour: 115 (Normal range 70-140) Ugh I hope I don't have to go through that again! By hour 2 I was starving. My stomach was making horrible noises and little baby was rolling around like crazy! I think it's a form of torture.
I just got the call that I failed the one hour test with a 154. Yikes! I faint every time I have to have labs done, so the nurse is asking my midwife if there is any alternative to the three hour test. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, because the three hour test is one of my worst nightmares .
I failed the three-hour as well. Ugh. So frustrating.
Fasting: 82 (should be under 95) 1-hour: 187 (should be under 180) 2-hour: 159 (should be under 155) 3-hour: 119 (should be under 140)
Soooooo....now I have to meet with a dietician and get a monitor to check my sugar levels. I was told my numbers weren't bad, just higher than they needed to be to be cosidered normal. I eat well and I don't eat sugary stuff often...so I'm not sure what will actually change. My doc said my numbers weren't high enough to give me medicine. Blah. So annoying.
