Let's talk baby wearing

I never baby wore with Dagny, just never had any need to! But I know with baby number 2 I'm going to need a carrier in order to take Dagny places & still be active with her. What do you guys like? I don't think I'd be comfortable with a wrap...they seem too complicated.

Loved the structured Ergo for going out and the soft K-Tan for staying in. If you can only do one, I say Ergo. You can use it for awhile!

I loved wearing Robin and I hope to do the same with #2. I used a k'tan for the first 4 months or so, then I used the Ergo from 4-15ish months. I loved both. The biggest drawback of the k'tan is he was too heavy for it to be comfy by 4 months, but it's also affordable so I still felt like I got my money's worth. The other drawback is I couldn't figure out how to nurse in the k'tan, but I did find nursing in the Ergo really easy.

This time around I want to get a ring sling and maaaaaybe a woven wrap, if I can try one out and like it. I'm very interested in being able to do a back carry with a little one.

I use my Mei Tai wrap multiple times per day. I like that I don't need any insert to use it for newborns. I got an Infantino one from BRU for about $25.

I also have an Ergo that I'll probably use again once baby is a little bigger. Side note: I took my dogs for a walk a few weeks ago and Dylan wanted to come. I told him he could only come with me if he went in the Ergo. That was a workout! But really fun since I hadn't worn him in a looonggg time. We had a nice conversation!

I loved my Moby with both kids and definitely got my money's worth out of it. I know it's not for everyone though.

I was a late adopter to baby wearing. I love(d) the ergo. I only ever used the front carry. I'm sure Cooper would still fit, but we haven't seen it in MONTHS.

I liked my moby wrap. AmaZon has them on the deal of the day sometimes and I got another one off a moms consignment group on facebook for $15. I also had the ktan and used it maybe 3 times?

I have an ergo now that my son hates but dd loves so far, and it's been a life saver. Best item I own currently

We use a becco Gemini. A lot like the ergo but doesn't need an infant insert and it is okay to use forward facing (even though they don't recommend it for long periods since it isn't really good for babies back and hips. BUT its one of the only carriers designed to make it okay for short periods. Egros are also awesome though .

I love my ergo! I think nesenotes has an awesome wrap I've seen her rock on FB though too!

I loved my Moby and used it all the time! It takes practice tying it but once you get the hang of it, it is so easy. James Austin loved it and it always felt secure. I also now have a Tula and love it. JA still will let me put him in it and at 34lbs, I can carry him easily in it.

I have a boba wrap anf absolutely love it. I had a different carrier for Henry... infantino maybe? I hated it. Way to hard to get everything adjusted. Logan loves to be carried in the wrap!

I practiced on Sadie. She loved it for about .2 seconds and then wanted out!

I loved baby wearing with Shane. Aubrey didn't like to be worn as much, but I had a linen ring sling that I liked because my hands wear free to do stuff while aubrey could nap close. I also have an ergo which I used a lot when the kids were past the newborn stage. I also loved putting shane up on my back in a wrap but aubrey would have nothing to do with it.

We have a Bjorn, which I know a lot of people hate, but its pretty much the only one we can use with Andrew's brace.

I had a Bjorn hand me down which I used once in a while. She wasn't a fan. And I used a moby for a while and I wasn't a fan because I was so freaking hot and sweaty all the time. But if seasonally it would have timed out better I think the moby would have been fine for me. I have really poor posture and it actually made my back pain at night a little worse so I don't think I was the best candidate for it, I love hearing others recommendations though for future gifts.

I was late in the game but got it for traveling. Tula was a breeze to use, and super comfy. Expensive for a carrier but def cheaper than those fancy strollers and less cumbersome.

I love the Ergo. I got the infant insert with it and was able to wear her right from the beginning. I get use out of it even now, we bring it along when we go on hikes. If she gets tired I can wear her on my back no problem!

I have an Ergo carrier and a baby K'tan and loved them both. I only used the k'tan for maybe 6 weeks but it was totally worth the money I spent on it. Tyler would always fall asleep in it.

Alex was never a huge fan of the Ergo, but I didn't get it until he was like 9 months old. T does great in it.

I do like the ktan! Ellison was to big when I tried it so we took it back. Our target has them pretty regularly on clearance. I was told it is because they don't sell them in store and if people return them to store they mark them way down since it isn't a stocked item. I have seen them in the clearance baby isle and on the bottom shelf of the other baby wearing brands they carry. I got one for $20 there. I would size down if you are between two sizes.

Not hard at all because there's no tie!! I think the learning curve is pulling it tight enough in the right places to get it snug under baby's butt and secure around baby's back. I watched a few you tube videos that were helpful! Mine is a Girasol wrap that was converted into a ring sling, it's from zanytoes.net and they have babywearing info on their site too.

thebabywearer.com/forum/ has a lot of info on babywearing too. They also have a for sale or trade forum but I would recommend lurking those for awhile until you get a feel for what you want and the average pricing on that item.

I give another vote for the ergo.  It was easy to use, comfortable, and fit me and my husband.  I was even able to nurse while on the go in it when she was older.  I just put the hood up and no one noticed.

I also had a moby which was nice when DD was really little.  It was nice because it was sort of like swaddling the baby against your chest. It takes a bit more practice to figure out how to wear it, but there are youtube videos that are handy.

I loved my ring sling for the first 6 months. It was like baby magic and almost immediately she would fall asleep. I also have an ergo, and I like it, I would just get a Tula if I had to chose again. I like that you can get cool designs and I've heard they are more comfy. I still use the ergo for Eliza. It was extremely handy for when we had all day bball tournaments. She would actually nap an hour in there and was better than no nap.

Another Ergo lover here. If you get the infant insert you can use it right from the beginning. I went for a walk wearing Eli the day I got home from the hospital. Also, it's soooo easy to put on, two clicks, simple. I still occasionally use it to carry Eli backpack style, so you can get a years worth of use out of it.

britbratjf if you want my k'tan you can have it for whatever shipping it to you would cost. It's the heather grey color, size medium. They run pretty big. It fit me well PP, at like size 14, 36C. I used it probably less than 20 times.
