I don't use a wipe for every pee. If she just got changed 30 seconds ago, if we're in a public bathroom/trying to be quick, as long as it's not red or irritated looking. Poop will definitely get all up in her lady business; wipe front to back. If it's bad, you have to kind of open up to peek in and make sure it's clean. Sadie hates that, but I'm fairly sure she would hate it more if the poop stayed in there so I just try to be quick.
Semi-related.... What do I need to know/do after a circ?
Wiping a boy is easy! I never did wipes for just pee unless he was drenched because of an overwet CD and then I would just do warm water. The only tricky part about poop is that their balls have all these little wrinkles and sometimes it's hard to get the poop off. Also, so many baby erections. Make sure it's tucked down or he will literally pee out the top of his diaper.
For circ, we followed the advice of a friend of ours and didn't have it done right after he was born. With her son they somehow messed it up and he had to have 2 follow up surgeries when he was around 2 and 3. She told us to take him to a urologist so that's what we did. Robin got circ'ed at 3 months and at least emotionally it was a lot easier on me. I think care was easier because I was less hormonal/sleep deprived by that point. Our doc did this crazy gauze tent around his penis that we left on for 24ish hours and then it was just lots of a&d. I remember putting a&d directly on the diaper too to make sure it wouldn't stick to his healing skin.
