gldnbearz, LOL! Though we had a fantabulous night last night. I still feel dead this morning, though, for some odd reason.
Our apartment building is getting painted right now and so I closed all the blinds... but I still feel like I'm in a fishbowl a bit. We're off to the grocery store soon, or as soon as Munchkin wakes up from his nap.
Oh, and today is my last day as a brunette! If all goes as planned, tomorrow I become a redhead! I've been thinking about doing this for over two years and it's time to actually do it.
Had a terrible morning this morning. I ran over a cat on the highway this morning. It got up and ran away but I felt terrible and cried the whole way to work. I am praying it found its way to someone who can get it help. I couldn't stop on the highway, plus I had LO in the car. It probably wouldn't have let me get close to it either.
wildflower810, good luck with the hair color change. I've always thought it would be cool to make a drastic change like that! DH would not be a fan of me changing from brunette though...
catlady22, So sorry about the cat I hope it found help.
wildflower810, enjoy the color change! Is it henna? I remember you mentioning that.
gldnbearz, lol that's a lovely dream. Though we only had two wake ups last night!
We are at my parent's house today because our roofer is FINALLY getting to our roof today. (Hopefully- I'll be checking soon) it was supposed to be done in December lol. And then last Monday it was supposed to really totally happen. But didn't again.
I'm thinking a walk is happening because nap isn't working here for some reason. And baby needs a nap. He's in the PNP right now and my rain rain app is on and he is trying so hard to sleep but can't or won't or something.
Bedtime was quite the production last night. Baby has started humming herself to sleep lately. It takes no less than forever each time. I try hard not to laugh because it's so cute, but my back/knees start hurting after awhile. Because I have to hold her hands until she stops thrashing, so it really does feel like some sort of show. Mom! Stage left! Baby! Cue humming! Aaaand action!
The walk around the block means baby is asleep and I have my laptop and working outside! I hope the clouds move away just a bit more and maybe I will get some color. Liam is in the shade of course.
I am wearing a headband for the first time in like forever and it really shows off how badly my new hairline looks! I really hope this hair grows back! Get ready for all these weird baby hairs to show up and look all frizzy and gross.

jjh1119, yes, I'm doing henna! So no chemicals or anything nasty to deal with. I also don't have the fear of turning out fire hydrant red. I tested some hair from the floor with a sample of the henna and it turned this deep aburnish and I loved it!
wildflower810 sounds like a nice color. Just don't ask a hairdresser to go blonde after lol. You can't lighten henna but you can go darker/neutralize the red if you get sick of it

jjh1119, I wouldn't go blonde, ever! I'd look so pasty they'd make me hang out in the refrigerated biscuit aisle. I know the red will be around for years... but hey, why the heck not? I have virgin hair, so it's about time to do *something*.
spiraltheory I could have said the same thing as you! We had another extreme motn diaper change, which created some lingering baby wakefulness....I'm so tired I just closed my eyes at my desk. I think for a few minutes, hopefully not longer! No point in sharing except that we all know exactly what you're talking about!!
gldnbearz here's hoping! Every night I'm like tonight could be the night...cue 4-5 wake ups and my hopes are dashed. I'm pretty resigned to the fact that my baby will not STTN for a while yet and I'm ok with that. Now the bottle thing...so frustrating and I need to just suck it up and do a weekend of bottles instead of nursing but I'm lazy (or too busy with the new house etc.)
zengal Max likes to growl hime Self to sleep...it's pretty amusing
We officially moved this weekend so of course it was crazy busy and I am completely overwhelmed at the chaos. I'm trying to take it one day at a time but holy smokes my todo list is daunting. Plus I'm crazy busy at work and can't take a couple of days off to catch up at home. I'm taking mothers day weekend off regardless of what's not done at that point and I'm counting the days!
Max does not seem to like the new house or he is having trouble adjusting because he will not sleep in his bed longer than 10 minutes but conks out if I bring him to bed with me.

catlady22, - oh man that stinks! Hopefully the cat found its way to someone who could help. gldnbearz, - why oh why can't that dream come true?? zengal, - your lo is humming herself to sleep? Seriously, that sounds like the cutest thing ever! wildflower810, - yay for red hair!! If you aren't freaked out about sharing pics you should share a before and after! jjh1119, - those damn baby hairs have thoroughly screwed with my bangs. Not cool, not cool at all.
LO has turned into a "terrible" sleeper (I hate using that word because I'm of the school of thought that these wakeful times are necessary for his development) DH and I discussed possibly getting LO a new mattress. I pulled his out of his bed yesterday and laid on it ... holy smokes it's hard as a rock. I might as well be putting my kid to sleep on the floor (this should be ribbon #2 I get for being mom of the year, p.s. we removed LO's bumpers over the weekend). Needless to say I'm curious to hear what kind of crib mattresses you all are using? Does anyone have a recommendation? I got suckered in by the girl at Babies R Us who told me "this bed was the best." LO has gotten used to coming to bed with us so he's getting (possibly to our detriment) spoiled with the tempurpedic. He stays in his crib the first 3-4 hours after he goes down, but after that he is up at least every 1-2 hours until 6 am. I'm not sure how exactly I've been functioning. Not sure a new mattress will help, but couldn't hurt. I feel guilty for putting him to sleep on a slab of concrete every night.
spikesmom I hope you get to catch up soon and just enjoy your new house and all the hard work that was put into it!
Liam makes strange noises when he goes to sleep too, kind of like a growl ish
ninergirl52 I think the mattress is supposed to be firm but not sure about anything else. The crib mattress is definitely firmer than our bed and not as hard as the PNP. (That doesn't really help now does it?)
In terms of STTN we KNOW we're probably in this for more than a year. Probably close to 2. My hope is that once he knows his boundaries in the crib, how to get himself unstuck from the corners, etc he will be able to go longer stretches. I have no doubt though that he will be in bed with us by morning for years to come lol. I'm okay with this. Again- there aren't many teens needing to be held/rocked/sung to/ cuddled with to get to sleep. It will one day happen.
ninergirl52 my baby is still in the bassinet for the first stretch of the night. That thing is for real a piece of cardboard with an inch of mattress on top. The crib is waiting for her...got the $89 Sealy mattress that Lucies list recommended. Eta she sleeps the rest of the night in my bed too. Spoiled by the pillow top!! Haha.
Yes, she started humming! Can I post audio here?
And, I made the lactation smoothie today. Never thought I would enjoy drinking oatmeal- but it was delightful!
After spending a good chunk of yesterday evening in the closet with H, LO and the dog while tornado sirens were going off...I'm BEAT. Not as bad as our roof or H's truck though. Finally stopped hailing around midnight after our FOURTH storm. Going to pick LO up right now and praying she'll take a nap with me. Spring weather in TX is for the birds. Planning on catching up what I missed this weekend on here after the nap!

catlady22, So sorry about the cat . Hopefully s/he found someone to help her/him. millm0m, Ugh!!!! You have been hammered by the weather lately!!!! Hopefully some relief will come soon!!! zengal, My LO makes little noises when he goes to sleep... sometimes it's like he's clearing his throat and but most times it's a humming noise. The cutest thing is that MH still makes the humming noise (not nearly as cute as L's) so when L started doing it we knew exactly where it came from .
oops forgot to add my random: so MIL was over today to babysit so I could go grocery shopping (again... very grateful that she is so willing... but yeah she still drives me crazy) And I told her LO will be ready for a nap in a bit. She put him down for his nap shortly after I left (GASP!!!! she actually listened to me!!!!). However, L basically slept the entire time I was gone (another shocker since he has basically been getting 20 minute naps, YAY!!!). You could tell she was upset that she didn't get to spend time with him awake (understandable... I would be too). But, what I fear is that this will be the one and only time she actually listens to me and puts him to sleep when I ask since she missed out on her play time with her grand baby. Hopefully I'm wrong... we shall see.
ninergirl52, I got a Sealy mattress from walmart. It was on sale over the summer for like $64. It's firm, but seems comfortable still. I've been inspired by your "operation take a friggin bottle kid" to create my own "Operation Nap In The Crib Kid."
My plan is to gradually transition from my arms to the crib by creating a routine. I made a playlist of calm music and I'm playing it during all her daytime naps in my arms, and I'll play it when she's in the crib later too. I'm also making the room dark and giving her a specific toy to cuddle with. Any other suggestions? She already naps in the crib once a day, but she takes 3 naps, and I need to be able to get things done during the day!
