I'm curious, so question for everyone — did the dress you ended up with match with the idea you had in your head of your "ideal" wedding dress? Because mine sure didn't. Like I said, I didn't even want to try on the dress I got married in. I initially said no satin (dress was satin with an organza, appliqued overlay), lace (dress had not a stitch of lace), and no strapless (dress was strapless).
I saw a dress online that I loved, right before I asked her to marry me, not on a site that you could buy from. I found it online on a knockoff site. When I went actual dress shopping, they had it there and it fit perfectly. I ordered the knockoff, knowing it was a huge chance. It was worth the chance, I saved myself $1,400!

No it was not the dress I envisioned in my head. I wanted a fit-n-flare but my butt was too big imo, so that was out. I tried on 8 dresses and I fell in love with this one. When I ordered it I was a size 22 so I had to order the dress in a 26. I was so disappointed in myself that I started working out that day. When the dress arrived 3 months later I had lost 38 pounds and the dress was huge. I keep with my weight loss and continued to loss weight. I had a awesome seamstress and she had to reconstruct the dress from the inside out. I ended up going from a size 22 to a 16. At my last fitting my seamstress told me not to lose another pound. So far I have keep the majority of my weight off and I stay between a size 16-18.
How long were you engaged? 1.5 yrs What does your ring look like? My engagement ring has three main diamonds and a diamond band. The wedding ring is a diamond band. Both are white gold. What did your dress look like? It was a white, strapless dress with a medium length train and lace all over. What were your wedding colours? Sangria and silver Favourite part of your wedding day? Crying happy tears with DH in the church foyer right after the ceremony. Any catastrophes or surprises on your wedding day? Nope!
kawaiikitsune, that's too funny. I have one (two, actually — one in color, and one in black and white) that features my lovely husband adjusting himself. I laughed so hard when I saw it, but I'm not sure why our photographers thought I needed two copies.
Didn't you know, everyone wants a picture of their husband adjusting their junk? To blow-up and frame.

Sorry if my pics are huge..I'm mobile currently.
How long were you engaged? 14 months. We got engaged in May and I wanted a summer wedding since I was still in college so we got married in July of the next year.
What does your ring look like? My engagement ring is a full carat and the band is a half carat. DH picked it all by himself and I love it!
What did your dress look like? I got the Alfred Angelo Rapunzel gown from the Disney line. It was out of my price range but my mom bought it for me anyway because she knew how much I loved it!!
What were your wedding colors? Hot pink and lime green. I loved my bouquet and cake with those colors.
Favorite part of your wedding day? The reception was a blast. We don't drink and neither do our families so we didn't have any alcohol, but our families made some great memories for us in our photo booth. We got a disk of all the images and the guests got to make a scrapbook for us. It's fun to look at now.
Any catastrophes or surprises in your wedding day? Well, our wedding was 45 minutes from home and my ring got left at home by BIL (best man). So our ceremony started pretty late because someone who was running late to the wedding had to stop and get it to bring it to the venue, but it's funny to think about now. I like to remind BIL of it every now and then too.
One more picture for your viewing pleasure because I love it so much.

I REALLY wanted a fitted, clean modern look with straps for the 'girls' and definitely not lace! Of course, everything looked awful and when I finally agreed to try on the one that mom liked, Et Voila! Oh Maggie Sottero Vienna. I love it still. I do wish I'd gotten straps though, the girls looked amazing, but I had to tuck them back in more than once.
I love these! I can't stop love-titing they are all too great! Love weddings. We were engaged for 7 months. My ring is a cushion cut aquamarine surrounded by diamonds with diamonds on the band and the wedding band tucks underneath with diamonds on the band, platinum bands for both. There's a story about why aquamarine but I'll save that for another day. My dress was lace overlay over a champagne silk slip with some heading in the lace for some sparkle, with thin straps and a deep back (pic below, pdq). Wedding colors were blue and white, nothing much had color but the flowers and bmaid's dresses, it was very simple. Favorite part was...oh everything. My rehearsal dinner was a welcome dinner for all guests bc my friends and family were almost entirely out of state and I wanted to spend time with people, we rented a big boat for a sunset cruise and it was incredible! I wanted a more rustic/relaxed wedding but with some constraints we couldn't find the right place to pull that off, so it wasn't the wedding I had planned in my head. BUT it totally worked out, people danced and had fun. Our DJ was also a musician and was so awesome (played acoustic in ceremony) and then after I went with some friends to a bar, I really wanted to wear my dress to a bar for some reason and be able to enjoy and relax some and it was totally worth it...then we ate Chinese food at the hotel over the ocean, so perfect. Oh yeah and my dad is a minister and did our ceremony and we wrote our vows and I loved that! And our music, wait I already said that, ha! Catastrophes: had a few challenges, found out a week before one of my bridesmaid's husband's has leukemia and was very sick (they made it and he's doing better now!) and then the day before one of my dogs got super sick and had to stay overnight in doggie hospital plus we had to deal with getting him admitted, etc, with tons of people traveling from all over and my rehearsal dinner, etc. He totally recovered (we think he just had FOMO, ha...expensive FOMO). I've rambled enough! Here are some pics for your enjoyment: *poof* (left one
How long were you engaged? 15 months What does your ring look like? diamond cut solitaire with an enhancer. What did your dress look like? Tea length ivory lace gown. What were your wedding colours? Pale pink, ivory, and gold Favourite part of your wedding day? Going back to the hotel suite with my husband after the reception had ended. ETA: Also, the cake. The flowers were a disaster, but that cake was so damn good. We froze some of it and had it on our first anniversary, and it was still amazingly delicious. Any catastrophes or surprises on your wedding day? We planned an outdoor wedding in the middle of July (driest month around here). Had not rained on that day in 20 years. We were on a super tight budget and had no real rain plan. Of course, it rained over a 3/10ths of an inch - half the typical rainfall for the entire MONTH. Fortunately the rain stopped by the time our ceremony started, but the lawn was a mucky disaster and the weather delayed setting up the tables and chairs. We had the wedding and reception in my MIL's backyard (see Wedding Bio link in my signature) and had to set up a canopy to cover the entire patio by the pool just in case. To avoid sinking in the grass, my MIL put out a vinyl chair mat at the "altar," and even though she thinks it's funny I have tried to photoshop it out of every picture I can because I hate it.
ETA: The florist was a complete disaster. I got a lot of wilted and brown looking flowers. Very disappointing.
TTC since July 2014. CP March 2015. IVF #1 March 2016, 5R, 3M, 2F with ICSI. Transferred 2 on day 3. CP. Surprise BFP and then CP August 2016 (prep cycle for IVF). IVF #2: zero eggs retrieved IVF #3: 6R, 5M, 5F, 3 (2 8A and 1 11A) transferred, one "B" graded embryo frozen on day 5. BFP (at home 7dp3dt, confirmed 14dp3dt with 1552 beta) and U/S at 5w5d, 2 sacs and 2 yolks!
joy, I love your attitude at the makeup artist not showing up. That was basically me while planning my whole wedding. My mom was really upset that I didn't care more. But I had the groom I wanted so everything else just didn't seem to be all that important.
She finally got to be a "real" mother of the bride with my younger sister.
MIL pinned a lot of pressure on us for a similar reason. MHs brother had a courthouse wedding that they didn't approve of. We would have eloped if not for his parents.
How long were you engaged? 5 months. He knew he was getting new orders. That sped things up. What can I say we get along really well... No one else really got it. I was often asked if I was pregnant.
What does your ring look like? square halo
What did your dress look like? picture below. I do not like it. It was one of the hardest things for me to choose. A short dress would have suited me more.
What were your wedding colours? Hot pink, navy and white.
Favourite part of your wedding day? Seeing how excited how families were for us.
Any catastrophes or surprises on your wedding day? It was a mess. Backyard wedding. I got an amazing husband so who cares. I was never really one to dream about my wedding day.

Because I can't stay away. Another moment I loved - the Best Man speech. it was awesome.
Here is Best Man (My BIL) showing the crowd Mr. Snack's childhood pillowcase. (Backstory: Mr. Snacks was a huge NKOTB fan as a kid. The whole speech was NKOTB themed)
And this is me - thinking it was HILARIOUS! Mr Snacks - not so much. I love candid shots.

Your weddings are all so beautiful!
How long were you engaged? Almost a year What does your ring look like? Three bigger diamonds, then teeny diamonds around the band. My wedding band has the teeny diamonds to match the engagement ring What did your dress look like? sweetheart neckline, A-line. What were your wedding colours? Plum (aubergine) and ivory. Favourite part of your wedding day? wedding night sex. We'd been together for years, but there was something really special about that night. Also, the dancing was so fun. Any catastrophes or surprises on your wedding day? Pretty much nothing went as planned. The speeches were all quite horrendous. DH wants to do it all over again for our 10 year (just the two of us / immediate family vow renewal type thing) but we have 7 years to go for that!

How long were you engaged? Just seven days shy of a year!
What does your ring look like? *SNIP*
What did your dress look like? It's an Alfred Angelo Cinderella dress. One layer of tulle had glitter all throughout, it was gorgeous and totally not what I thought I would pick out *SNIP*
What were your wedding colours? Black and red with accents of crystals
Favourite part of your wedding day? Marrying my H, seriously, I would've been happy eloping.
Any catastrophes or surprises on your wedding day? My flowers were wrong, I kind of got what was in the contract but it wasn't even close. Also I put MIL near the exit/bathroom and the DJ kind of called me out on that during introductions.
And add anything else you feel the need to share with us here here's some pictures DNQ *SNIP*
Our cake topper is a replica of myself, H and the fur children. I made my veil myself. The cat in the bouquet charm was my favorite cat who passed away last year, the other side were my paternal grandparents. The shoes I bought in London at Harrod's and wore them all of 15 minutes and then wore ON flip flops the rest of the night.

How long were you engaged? 5.5 months What does your ring look like? An emerald cut stone with two side stones. It's exactly what I would have picked out myself! What did your dress look like? POOF! I was obsessed with my dress and someday hope it fits so I can hem and dye it to wear to other people's weddings What were your wedding colours? Hot pink, orange, yellow Favourite part of your wedding day? All the dancing! We danced with every single person for the last song. It was a huge remix of footloose and was lots of fun. Any catastrophes or surprises on your wedding day? We had so many little issues leading up to the day, but nothing went wrong the day of, except for my cake topper penguin losing his top hat for the photographers photos. And add anything else you feel the need to share with us My sisters in law made this cake and I made the toppers. I was so impressed with their cake. We were so grateful to them; it was their gift to us. So thoughtful!
