I think stretch mark cream is a waste of money.
I was reminded of this by a couple of you who said you were buying some (or buying some soon). I don't have a problem with people buying it (it's your money, after all), but I just think it's a bunch of hooey to get scared pregnant ladies to spend extra money.

I read this somewhere and I'm still buying. LOL.
But if it helps, I do have REALLY dry skin, so we can just pretend like I'm going to get good at moisturizing like I should.

I haven't even had a baby yet and I've got a ton of stretch marks. Seems my body just makes them whenever I lose or gain a few and I also don't believe that cream will actually prevent them.

Yup. It's all genetics.
You may surprise yourself though! I have a bunch of (very faded at this point) stretch marks on my thighs and the bottom of my boobs from I guess puberty, I don't really remember when I got them. I lucked out and didn't have any stretch marks with DS! I don't know why or how it was different, but win!

But how do you feel about Mederma afterwards? I got a lot of stretchmarks on my rear/hips from a weight gain I had in my early 20s... when I lost the weight the stretch marks were even more obvious. I used Mederma and I swear they got better in that 3 months that I used it...
Doesn't the lotion also help with the itching? I read something, somewhere, about itching.

Oh man... I avoided stretch marks until the VERY END and then they exploded. I'm going to try to be better about keeping moisturized this time. I'm horrible at remembering to put lotion on.

This is up there with cellulite cream. Stupid expensive and never really works.

I have no opinions on the after stuff, because I've been fortunate enough not to deal with it. I'd have to look into some actual scientific evidence to be convinced.
As for itching - I think any lotion helps with itching! I use coconut oil. It worked to help with any itchies last time!
I think prenatal vitamins are stupid and a waste of money, seeing as how you can get all your nutrients from food and most of vitamin content is peed out - but I'm taking them anyway just in case. I got the ones made from real foods so maybe they work better.

I just don't really like vitamins in general.
ILY.
I don't take multi vitamins.
I told my OB last time I was just taking a folic acid supplement (scientifically proven to be useful) and a fish oil supplement (of dubious use, I know, but I don't eat enough fish, and I know it), and they were totally cool with that.

I had very few, small stretch marks with my first baby. Second baby... I got my "tiger stripes" like that stupid meme says.
I love my prenatals. They're my little bit of happy "safety net."
Yeah I'm too paranoid, the "safety net" is exactly why I'm taking them. But like, I'm supposed to take 3 per day of these, and I'm just now up to 2/day. To be fair though, I do take a separate folic acid supplement - so nobody worry!

Meh. Yes and no. A large portion of people have really shitty diets so a prenatal/multivitamin can help supplement. But your right that if you are eating a balanced diet then you don't really need them. Folic acid has been fortified in our grain supply since 1997.

Yeeeeeah, I know I'm not out of the woods yet. Still not buying stretch mark cream though ;-)

I highly doubt that I was getting the proper nutrients from only the bowls of cold cereal I was eating during first trimester with my daughter, since they were the only food I could stomach.

Exactly. If someone is following the Standard American Diet or suffering from nausea/vomiting that makes almost all food unappealing, wouldn't prenatal vitamins be kind of a necessity?

I dunno man --- they fortify cereal with A LOT of stuff. Plus milk is usually mega fortified.
But no I totally get what you're saying. I think once morning sickness hits, I'll be singing a different tune.

3 per day?! I take one. Fuck that amount. That's overkill.
People who talk about money make me uncomfortable. Whether you have a pool full of cash like Scrooge McDuck or nary a pot to piss in, I don't like to hear dollar amounts of what you spend/owe.

Are those the rainbow lite minis? I tried those before but couldn't stand the smell. Bleh.

Yeah it's that fancy shmancy crap from Whole Foods. If they packed it all into one pill it'd be the size of a strawberry. I figure if I take one on days I eat well, and 2 on days I don't eat much, maybe it'll all even out. Y'know... science and maths and stuff!

I also use a B complex from a local organic grocer here that dissolves under your tongue. I originally got it because metformin can deplete your B12 --- it has Vitamin B-6, Folic Acid, Vitamin B-12, and Biotin. I like this one because it tastes like candy.
Okay I guess my UO is that I love my prenatal vitamins. They're gunmies, and I love taking them. It's like a little morning treat!
My prenatals are regular pills, but I have some calcium gummies from Costco that are the shit. They're sweet on their own, and then they're dipped in sugar crystals. It's really healthy!

I was thinking about getting a calcium supplement because I don't drink regular milk, but I think I'm going to wait until my 8 week appt and see what my OB recommends. I eat lots of kale, which is high in calcium, and coconut milk does have some, just not as much as cows milk.

I take the rainbow light minis because I totally believe in getting your vitamins from your food and then buying food-based vitamins when you need to. The smell doesn't bother me as much as the size of other pills. Gag reflex and all that, I'm a wuss. Plus, I like to think (although our resident nutritionist probably knows better ) that taking one smaller pill with each meal probably is better for vitamin absorption than taking one pill.
Downside to rainbow light - I have to take a separate folic acid AND it doesn't include DHA so I have to take that too. Plus I'm on estrogen pills and CoQ10 per my RE. I basically have a side of pills with each meal ?.
