Ugh. What the hell am I supposed to do when my sassy two year old replies, "yes" when I ask her if she needs a time out as a result of her actions? Follow through on a time out that she'll just laugh through or what?
Can you just take the toy/ item away? If DD won't stop standing on the slide- the slide goes away. It doesn't help for everything, but she thinks time outs are funny so this method gets her attention.
That's a good idea. The moment that really set me off this evening was when I was asking her to clean up her toys. If I took them away that's eliminating the purpose for asking.
I really need to be better about the number of chances she gets anyway. Thanks for the advice all.
And DH's plans today were cancelled so I was able to hang with a friend for a few hours and grab lunch with her without DS. Was originally going to take him
Hey, what better way to spend father's day than with your kid Must have been a nice relaxing ladies lunch!

Wow, I'm so far behind. Hope everyone is doing good! Weekend has been crazy busy. A wasn't 100% at her party but she had fun. Think she has a stomach bug bc she hasn't much the past few days but she's chipper and playing around non stop. A in her watermelon dress at the party and her sweets table

cl8badb, hugs. I'm a little late and catching up but I read your struggle and what you're doing to try to get pregnant and just wanted to send hugs your way

DH and I have really started having to watch how we say things to LO. We were asking everything as a question for a long time, to try to encourage his language. Then all of a sudden, he started just saying "no" to things that we didn't intend to be optional. "Do you want another bite of chicken?" "Can you have one more sip?" "Is it time for your bath?" We've had to very consciously change all those types of things to statements. Then if he says no, he's not listening to directions, which is something that deserves and consequence. (We don't do consequences for food really, but those are my daily struggle so that popped into my head.)
cynthia2007, the party looks awesome and that is absolutely the cutest little party dress ever!! My ovaries just did flips, I want a little girl so bad!

I'm at the tiniest airport ever! Took 5 min or less to get from checkin to the gate. I need to be a coffee drinker right now. And these food places in the airport need to hurry up and open before my H goes postal on someone bc he hasn't had his coffee yet.

Sorry being a post whore but gotta get posts in and share before I disappear into a world of margarita/coronas by the water but I'm so proud of my dad for putting this together yesterday. He has to replace one of the swings with the bucket ones A can sit in and attach the slide but it was so dang hot yesterday and he worked on it all day. I helped for a few hours but my lack of patience with all the small parts and assembly I almost threw it over the gate!

LO woke up screaming at 3:30 for me and only me. Got him to sleep again at 5 and now, of course, I am wide awake. At this point, I wonder if a nap before work is just going to make it worse? Send Starbucks. And virile masseurs. And a bacon breakfast taco.
When you pull your toddler into your nice clean bed in the morning, always check their back and legs for seeping diarreah first. He managed to snuggle and roll around a lot of territory before he turned to me and very seriously said "mama, der's diarreah everywhere." Please God let this end soon!

Oh no! But I feel us on this. A's been fighting a stomach bug and last night I was sitting on the floor and she wanted to sit in my lap. Felt something wet and she had diarrhea through her diaper and shorts. She didn't say poop until AFTER she sat down...thanks for the warning
Our friend's father passed away yesterday. He never came out of the coma. I feel so terrible for her. What an awful Father's Day. She has been staying with us on and off so I'm guessing she and her kids will be back at our place this week. I am going to bleach the basement and quarantine the pukers in preparation.
