We used cloth diapers and still cleaned out the cart of diapers and wipes. Used them while traveling. Take whatever you can. They charged you twice what a bottle of aspirin costs for two aspirin. Fair is fair.
only twice? Pretty sure they charged me waaaay more than twice was Tylenol is worth.
My birth hospital has delicious food and I will gladly eat their food. When I was admitted a few weeks ago for electrolyte imbalance, I actually opted to stay an extra night just so I could sleep in for once, and eat their yummy breakfast. They offer chicken and veggie quesadillas, wok bowls, spaghetti, the local Cajun cuisine and so much more!
I took all the things I could. Nurses even told me to grab all the diapers left in the room. Those giant waterproof pads for the bed in particular are the best. Perfect for when the kids have a stomach bug but aren't old enough to not puke in bed. And also great for end of pregnancy when you are scared of your water breaking in bed (not that it's that likely, but I don't really want to risk that mess on my nice mattress.)
Funny you should say that, my water broke in bed about 5am. Luckily I somehow managed to jump out of bed quick enough that I didn't get anything on the bed.

Mine broke in bed around 3AM. My dog actually woke me up by pawing at me right before it happened Luckily we had a mattress cover!
Mine broke in bad at 4:30am but started as I sat up. I jumped up as liquid started running down my legs, but there was only a half dollar sized wet spot on the bed (the carpet was worse off).
We used a mattress cover for the last month before my due date, but I should have put towels by the bed -- that would have been much more helpful!

Haven't thought about what I will want this time since I've still got pleennntttyy of time til November.
During my last hospital stay, I had someone bring me a Big Gulp sized cup of fountain Coca Cola. I prolly drank like 1/10 of it, but it just had seemed so appealing through my pregnancy.
My only plan is a specific bottle of champagne. Even if it has to be smuggled in. I'm sure I'll be singing a different tune once I'm actually done delivering, but right now that's all I want.
DH and I toasted with a bottle after DS. We have a bottle of 2005 vintage (the year we were married) that we wanted to drink on our anniversary. I decided half a bottle of champagne is probably more than I should drink in one setting, so we'll drink it the first evening meal after delivery.
I felt so disgusting and bloated post c/s that for three days all I could eat was things like grilled chicken, steamed veggies, fruit, toast and broth.
After my c/s I did have to have a couple meals of clear fluids, and keep them down, before I could get real food. I don't remember them making me fart first.
Are we talking about water breaking? Because mine broke right around transition while I was getting back in the jacuzzi.... the bag bulged so far it was OUT of my body. It looked and felt like a grey plastic shopping bag. Definitely had no idea that was even possible. I thought the baby was coming. HAHAHAHA

I keep seeing sushi. I feel like I must be the only person who still eats sushi. I don't eat it frequently, but the place I eat at is very reputable, it's properly frozen and prepared and delivered daily and I keep an eye on mercury content.
Eh. Maybe that should be my FFFC.
I do miss oysters though, even if that is a once a year thing for me.
Once the baby is born, do all the food/alcohol restrictions go right out the window regardless of whether the mother is planning to breastfeed? i.e. is there no need to worry about listeria, toxoplasmosis, alcohol, etc. because that can only be passed in utero and not through breastmilk? Or do some guidelines/restrictions remain?
Please pardon my total ignorance.
You can eat whatever you want while BFing. If baby shows any signs of allergy you might need to cut certain foods. Or you might find that certain foods affect baby. But, other than that? Eat what you want.

I would eat sushi if there was something reputable and easily accessible. I would probably skip my spicy tuna though due to mercury. Which, really, that's what I want, so I don't eat sushi.

But tuna is a low-Mercury fish... That's probably your safest fish option.

Mom said onions gave me HORRIBLE gas, so horrible, she pretty much cut them out. Oops. Lol

I thought that was the canned stuff though, vs. tuna steak or sushi-grade tuna...?
I eat tuna so rarely that I don't really think about it, but it's one of the very few fish I really like, so I'd like to be clear on it in case I want to have some before this baby is born. I know I ate some seared ahi tuna at some point when I was KU with DS, however, so I feel like it might be on the list of "OK in moderation" seafood from my OB's office. *mental note to double check the list*

Not all tuna. Ahi tuna for example is something I love, but obviously only eat rare/raw, so that's one of the few things I do still plan to avoid this pregnancy. I don't think the tuna usually used in sushi rolls and sashimi is the low-mercury kind, but I could be wrong.

I did some googling and got some conflicting answers. As can be seen by the two links above. I guess it just comes down to comfort level. I give no fucks and eat what I want. But I also only get sushi a few times a year pregnant or not.

Agreed. I don't get sushi much either. I wish there was somewhere easily accessible that had great sushi - I'd get it all the time!
As we covered in the Parenting drinking thread last night, DH likes to give lots of fucks about what I do and don't eat while pregnant. I try to respect some of his wishes (the more reasonable ones) since I guess it's his kid too. He is all weird and skeptical about fish in general, so I just let the tuna thing go. At least for now. It actually doesn't sound particularly appealing in my current state anyway. I wish it did.

Well, I live as far from the ocean as is humanly possible, so our seafood is generally terrible. You can pry my medium-rare steak from my cold, dead hands though.

Oh I'm having my steak medium-rare this time. I was all careful for first & second tri last time, avoided soft cheeses, and had my steak medium, etc. and then I was like the hell with this, I eat what I want. I mean, except tuna. I'll have a tuna melt, but I wouldn't go full-on seared ahi tuna steak, which let's be honest, that's what I really want.
I freaking love seafood. I live 500 feet from the water so yeah. We eat a lot of salmon, cod, and haddock, plus shrimp and lobster. And scallops. Mmm. Gimme all the seafood and shellfish nowwww please.

This is pretty much where I'm at, considering the conflicting information I'm seeing on tuna and how infrequently I eat it to begin with.

Wait, I'm not supposed to have medium rare steak? Oops. Too late several times over.
The outside part that's susceptible to germs is cooked nicely, so why aren't we supposed to have rare steak?
