@sastahlman thank you so much. I just teared up while I read that! It's truly amazing how much words of encouragement and virtual hugs from internet "strangers" can really help me feel better and keep my chin up. I'm sorry you're in the situation that you're in as well. We can get through this! hugs to you too!
thank you. It is weird, but sometimes strangers can help you through something more than someone who knows you. If you ever need someone to talk to who understands your situation, you're welcome to PM me anytime. I check here multiple times a day, so I'll always get back to you. Just keep your head up! It will all be ok!

mcbaby Big hugs to you. You are not a failure, you're going to be a wonderful mother. I'm sorry that you're struggling with feeling worthless, but please know that you aren't worthless! I'm sorry that you're hearing that message from your dad, it's not true. Hang in there, and don't be afraid to talk to someone about your feelings (outside of those of us here, anyway).
We got home from grocery shopping last night and I realized I didn't buy one single donut. I'm so mad at myself. I just want crappy chocolate or powdered sugar donuts.
We always go grocery shopping Saturday morning and get a few donuts from the bakery in the store! If I'd ever forget (not that it would happen) my toddler would gladly remind me.
Majority of my life my dad's birthday was 27th. A few years ago he went back to Puerto Rico and found out his birth wasn't recorded till the 27th but he was born on the 24th. I never know when I should call him.
This happened to my grandpa. They wrote his birthday down 3 days off when he came through immigration as a child. We always celebrated the actual day he was born, not what was on his official records. I can see where it would be much weirder if you'd celebrated one day for most of your life though.

MIL was just over here and we FINALLY talked baby shower -- she mentioned around Thanksgiving she wanted to throw it, but not a word since. Turns out she was thinking of doing it in April sometime after BIL's wedding (that's on the 11th, so I guess the weekend of the 18th or later). Um, I am due May 10. Am I being a diva for completely balking at the thought of having my shower at 37 weeks pregnant? I told her I was thinking more like mid-March, I would have been okay with late March/early April but we have Palm Sunday and Easter and the weekend before those DH and I have all-day baby classes at the hospital. So that brings us to March 15, which should be plenty of time to plan a home shower that will have probably 15 attendees, right? I dunno, she seemed a little taken aback and I hate that I'm the one who brought it up today (etiquette screamed not to, practicality and peace of mind said I'd feel better if I did) and was then "picky" about the date. I'm probably overreacting and just really missing my own mom, but my sister's not picking up her phone and I need someone to validate my feels!!!
seventythree I do have to say, I agree with you about having a shower that late. You never know how early you might deliver. But, I'm afraid I'm less help on the advice front - not sure if I would say anything or not. Sorry you are having to deal with this, and that I'm not more help.
My random is we just spent an hour or so at the baby store (totally what it's called, right?) and the owner gave us a good crash course in cloth diapering. I'm feeling much more confident and excited about it now. Off to get caught in a YouTube spiral on the subject.

Trying to do some organizing upstairs. How the fuck do we accumulate so much shit in such a short amount of time?? We also needed to have a garage sale this spring but I think we will now probably wait until fall so we can purge all our baby things as well. I will probably be at this all night.
seventythree My big out of state shower is early March but we are being thrown a small local couple's thing on April 18, with a May 13 EDD. So while I don't think it's crazy, if I was only having one thing, no, I probably wouldn't want it quite that late. But date is one thing you definitely should have some input with the host on so I wouldn't feel bad about bringing it up.
Today's random: Little dude hurts so much when he's on the right side of me, but not when he's on the left. He's been on the left for about two weeks and I started complaining that it was hard to sleep on my left side now because whenever I rolled slightly towards my stomach he'd start punching like crazy. He moved back to the right yesterday, and his punches and kicks over there are so painful I wish he'd move back over to the left!
All I want to do is sit here and read my book after having 5 kids here all morning.
we are supposed to go to a friends basketball game that starts in 25 minutes, but my youngest is asleep and waking her up always puts her in a foul mood. I hate being late but I think I might hate a grumpy toddler more.
Today I have been watching TV on the couch all day and I was just resting my hand on my stomach and realized I can definitely tell what side she is on! I have not been able to tell but today I finally could! Also think I felt my first kick from the outside. So exciting!

There's an AmyG posting over on the BF board. I'm guessing she's the same AmyG as over at the other place. If so, yay! I also saw Auntie, but with a different SN, is posting over on Special Needs. I'm so glad ladies who were such valuable resources over at the dump can still be found over here.

I've been using children's toothpaste for the last ten weeks or so because normal toothpaste made me sick and nauseous. My teeth felt kind of gross today - I don't know how else to explain it - so I just tried normal toothpaste and OH MY GOD finally - no nausea and my teeth feel sooo nice
seventythree I totally understand where you are coming from. I felt the same way about my shower...and the same way about having to bring up dates even though it was possibly semi against etiquette. I am having two small showers - one thrown by my family and one by DH family (they don't really get along so one big one was out of the question). I had to bring it up to both sides a few weeks ago because no dates had been set yet and it was making me nervous not knowing. One is going to be in the beginning of March one is on April 11th. I was a little sad about the April date at first (hoping it would be earlier), but there's really no other weekends where everyone is available. So April 11th it is! If I were you, I would definitely push for an earlier date. Like @blackpearl08 said, you want enough prep time and time to complete your registry afterwards. Good luck!

My random is that we are beginning our first real day of potty training DS. He will be three a few days after the baby is born, and I would love to have him good by the time the baby comes. Today he peed in his underwear (I don't like pull ups because he will pee in them just like a diaper) once in the morning. But has gone 4 times on the potty, and stayed dry through nap. Now.... lets see what happens with the after dinner poop. Ha.
katietopaz congrats on the car!! We're leasing a 2014 RAV4 and loooove it! Except that it blows in the snow... Which was no good for the 6inches we got today. Boo. But other than that, I'm obsessed with it.
seventythree I agree with u that that's a late shower. My family is throwing 2 separate showers, one being feb 15, and the other April 4 with a due date of May 11. The April one is a little on the later side that i'd like, but since I'm having 2, I'm ok with it since I'll prob get a decent chunk of stuff at the first shower. But ur right, that's pretty late! I wouldn't be comfortable with that.
SassyPants150 I keep saying the same damn thing!! We accumulate shit so quickly. I've been trying to organize everything lately and throw out stuff we don't use, and we just moved 6 months ago!!! I don't know how we've accumulated so much crap so quickly. So annoying.
My random/AW post of the day: My husband finally felt our baby kicking him from the outside, an unmistakable kick! We were in bed, and he put his arm around my belly and baby gave him quite the kick (I imagined baby singing Queen's "I Want to Break Free"), and it was so awesome.
Here are some updated pictures from earlier for all those who wanted to see. The coral room is the nursery and the teal room is the former man cave which will now be a playroom. Thanks for all of the advice on the colors! They look a little brighter in the pictures since the sun is starting to go down, but in person I think they look pretty nice!
alwayslastzz haha Yes that is the closet door. That room has a tiny closet with a tiny door - I guess made for a tiny human? And good puppy spotting! That's my ILs puppy. Mine was lounging on the couch.
My random is that I suck at keeping up with posting! I want to be more involved but it's 8 pm and I just got end of this thread lol. I'm definitely going to have to work to keep up with yall!
smontz Looks good! That's about the size of the closet in our baby room too
jerseyakl Love the gray. I think it's really close to the color we just painted a couple weeks ago. It's a great base color for however you want to decorate.
Thanks smontz and robotpcr . We are gray junkies; I think we have every Benjamin Moore gray in our house. We will do gray walls, white trim and pink closets with pink accents (in curtains, rug, decor,). DH will build the shelves and all in the closets so there will be more white. We might do some pink on a wall (Polka dots, stencil, stripe or something) because it's a pretty big room. We'll see!
ETA: those blinds will come out; don't go judging my bad parenting just yet for those mega long cords!
