The last month, I've been having issues with my back. I have sciatic pain and my MW wants me to go to a chiropractor. I've been resting a lot and it was finally feeling better. Walking and getting dresses hasn't made me swear in the last week.
Well, today the plow man came. I went out to move my car. Pulled a major digger on the ice. Straight up and down hard on my back. All day I've been on a heating pad and am sore all over. I'd say FML, but it's more FMB (fuck my back.)
How was everyone's day? We lounged around quite a bit. Then H said he wanted to take some flowers up to the cemetery. So we did that, had a little coffee date and grabbed lunch. It's been nice and quiet but it feels great to relax and not have a million things to to.

We went to an amazing sushi place for lunch then to Ikea to pick out a new big boy bed and bedding for DS. Now we just need to figure out how to get it home because um, $300 for delivery? No thanks. We have a mid sized SUV so DH is going to measure it all out tomorrow to see if the boxes will fit if the car seats are out and the seats are down. Ugh. I just want the bed to be here! DS is so excited about it.

Sounds like a really nice day. We did similar. Put together the stroller just to make sure it came with all the parts and went out for falafel for dinner. I also got my hair done, which was nice. Quiet though.
Poppy that relaxing day sounds wonderful. Unfortunately, I had to work today. The facility I work at has a stupid ass rule that if u call out on ur weekend on (we all do every other weekend, every other holiday), you have to make it up another weekend on any shift on any floor in the facility... Even if u have a doctors note. The only time Its excused is if ur in the hospital. I had to call out a few weeks ago from being deathly sick with bronchitis and a sinus Infection, so alas here I am at work on my weekend off. NOT a happy person about that.
seventythree I definitely would not want my shower at 37 weeks. That gives you next to no time to set any gifts you receive up and buy whatever things you might not have received.

H is just now on his way home from work. I've been binge watching Vampire Diaries on Netflix all day and I've washed and put away 4 loads of baby clothes. I think my mom is storing more baby clothes at her house too. I really don't think we need anymore.

Oh that stinks you couldn't bring it home. I'd want to put it up right away. Does someone have a truck you can borrow? I like Ikea weekends new furniture is always so fun. We've been wanting to change out our dining room table forever. It's too big and hard to maneuver around. It also came with 6 chairs and we only have 2 left. All the rest have broken!
Hopefully you can figure out how to get that bed home and have that little guy sleeping in it in no time.

Sounds good to me. I like getting things done but in a more relaxing way and on my own time. I don't think I've ever had falafel before. Isn't that crazy? What stroller did you end up getting?
amylee545 that's a terrible rule. How annoying. I hate places that seem to punish you and make you regret being sick. I get that some people abuse sick time but the majority don't. Sorry you had to work on your weekend off!

I've always wondered about that show. I'm guessing its good? I like binging teeny shows like that. I did Gossip Girl a whole back and it was amazing!

That is pretty crazy It's either ridiculously good if you get if from the right place or truly awful. I've definitely had both. Nothing compares to getting it from street vendors in Israel though. Yum.
We ended up with the City Mini GT after trying out and discarding all the ones we thought we'd like. We've actually had it since before Thanksgiving, I think. It was a really amazing gift from my parents. You said one of your strollers is a BOB, right?

If it won't fit in the SUV with all the seats down, DH knows someone with a truck we might be able to borrow. We didn't actually buy the bed yet just made sure it was what we wanted so we're not in a huge hurry to get it home, I'm just super impatient! I want to move DD into DS's room and turn her room into a playroom but I don't want to do anything until we have his new bed.
I don't get to plan a nursery for this baby, so switching the rooms around is my "nesting" this time.

We laid around this morning and then had a hospital tour. But all the labor and delivery rooms and mother/baby rooms were full- they were even using one triage room for a mother because they were so full. So we will go back another time to get the full tour. Had lunch ran errands and came back home just relaxing this evening.
robotpcr yes. Good memory. We've had it for nearly two years now. It was a prize we won at the Promise Walk for Preeclampsia. I think it's the B-safe or B-Agile. Whichever is super lightweight and has the blue option. we also have a carseat and MIL won a stroller too.
We are going to get the new carseat model and give MIL the one we have. We realized the bases wouldn't match if DH got a new model carseat. So we are both going to get the new ones so we can switch if needed. We were worried if H dropped him off in the AM and I got him in the PM we wouldn't be able to just use the same seat and each have a base.
I know that was long winded by I'm still trying to rationalize it to myself. It seems like it will save us some headaches in the future.

It makes sense to me if you need to be able to easily switch between cars. I mean, whatever makes your life simpler, right?
I only remembered the stroller because this family I used to babysit for had a BOB (no idea which model) and I thought it was awesome.
We went to BBB today on the hunt for a changing table we liked, and all that baby stuff and planning just made me really irrationationally upset and impatient that I still have about 4 months to go. WAhhh. Obviously I want him to stay in and bake for as long as possible, but I want it to be May or closer to May already!
Are you getting a traditional changing table or a dresser type table with a changing pad area on top? 4 months is nothing. Time is going to speed up and go so quickly.

From what I can tell these are awesome strollers. Just the ease of fold in them is awesome. I remember struggling with my sisters for like 10 minutes at the mall one time. We could not get that damn thing to release. These are both super quick button and a pull inside. One if them is like 10 or 15 lbs. it's crazy lightweight. It was amazing winning all that gear. I can't believe after so long we are finally getting to use it!!
I knew I wasn't being totally crazy, but sometimes it's nice to hear it from someone else. This will be my main/family shower, I mentioned yesterday that my book club friends want to throw me one too but I assume it will be more of a "hey you're having a baby, let's have some cake" party rather than a gift party. So yeah, with this one I definitely want that extra time to take stock of what we have and what we still need to buy, set things up and figure out how they work, etc. Besides, as some mentioned, I don't want to be so big/uncomfortable that I don't enjoy my own party! I mentioned some of these things to her this afternoon and she was like "oh, you have plenty of time, it won't happen as fast as you think." Then proceeded to tell the story about how DH (her first) was born like 3 weeks early. Arrrgh! Pretty sure I was an early baby, too. Not that it means anything about when this baby will arrive, except that YOU NEVER KNOW. I don't think she is necessarily against an earlier date, but I don't think she understands or accepts my reasoning, either, which makes me feel like she thinks I'm being difficult.
Sigh, MIL is totally a nice lady, we're just not super close and DH's family is VERY different from mine. Normally I don't let it get under my skin too much, but in a situation like this I can't help but think about how different EVERYTHING would be if my own parents were alive and around for all this stuff. Not that I'm dwelling on that, but it just adds an extra layer of frustration/sadness for me.
This may be more of a Friday confession but I still sleep on my stomach. I'm not sure of that's a bad thing (DH is convinced it is) buuut it's what's comfortable right now (24w4d).

If you can do it comfortably, go for it! I miss it so much and can't lay on my stomach at all anymore

seventythree I'm sorry this whole baby shower brings up hard feelings- they're not exactly achieving what they think they are!
I spent my day installing a light fixture, went to Babies r us to try out some strollers and see stuff in person, and picked out switch plates for the house at Home Depot. The most exciting part was finally cracking and buying some cute baby boy clothes!!! DH saw the momaroo, looked at me and said "we are getting this".
katietopaz congrats on the rav4! They're super family friendly! I'm glad you got a clean one with one owner. I bet that's a huge relief. But don't go ditching us to drive around in your new ride!
On another note, I woke up around 4am. Ate some cookies, went back to bed until 8. Ate a pb&j sandwich for breakfast. Then curled up on DH and slept for another 3 hours. Woke up around 12. Went grocery shopping and wanted EVERYTHING in the entire store. Also went to motherhood maternity and got some new bras. I cried when I put on a 36E and it didn't fit... I had to settle for a 38F. That's fucking HUGE. Normally I'm a 34C. My tits are out of control. But they are so much happier in bras that fit. Now I'm gonna do my taxes.
I'm totally still in that phase where I love driving it just because it's new and awesome, but I'll try not too ditch you ladies for too long, haha! Your advice was super helpful, thank you again for letting me know about the red flags with salvage titles.
amylee545 Thanks!! I'm glad you're enjoying your RAV4, I love the redesign on the newer models! Bummer about the snow, though.
