I am heading to the hospital. Have been having what feels like one giant contraction since 6am with no let up. Usually water and relaxing helps but it's getting worse. Will keep you all posted.
oopsiedaisies, Fortunately, since H is military the move was completely covered, so it's not like we were paying them (but the government is through a contract). Contracting/outsourcing has become the bane of my existence because it's so hard to get to the people actually doing the job when you have a million subs in the business. They'd pay for a hotel, but with three dogs and a cat and the fact that our house is here and ready, it would be more of a hassle than it's worth.
The main thing is that if they'd told us our stuff would be two weeks getting here, we could/would have made a plan for that. Rented a Uhaul, brought more with us, been able to stay in the military temp housing for longer. But they just keep pushing it off 2 more days, then 2 more days, and so on, which makes planning really hard.
Kudos for your self control and not murdering them. Really
Speaking of crappy govt services, someone recommended edgepark to get my breast pump since tricare is a pita? oopsiedaisies was that you? I love you. Just got the pump in yesterday, no fuss or hassle. Yay!
Just had an NST since baby has been really sluggish lately. I've been doing kick counts and I barely get 10 in 2 hours. They hooked me up and I swear she moved more in those 20 min than she has in the last 9 months. Stink bug. And then she passed out haha.

Yes that was me!! I'm so excited for you getting your pump easily! I used Edgepark last time with my DD and just did it like a week ago for this one.
36 week appointment is tomorrow, along with another NST. Everything's going pretty well, apparently, according to my two previous NSTs, I'm having regular contractions when I'm monitored, but I don't feel them. So, we'll see where that goes. I imagine it'll be my turn for the GBS as well.
UO with my movers: To be here on fucking time for the pregnant lady. We got up early yesterday, puttered around, put the dogs up, and finally called because we were wondering when the movers would be there. Oh, turns out they're not going to be here until Friday, making it 15 days since our stuff went on the truck, and 7 since their original arrival date was supposed to be. Fortunately that means the moving company will now have to cover some of our expenses, like a foam mattress, eating out, and some household goods since we don't have ours. I'm hoping this has lit a fire under their asses.
I totally can relate to the bad movers situation. When we moved from CT to IL, our stuff went from CT to Boston and sat in a warehouse for 3 weeks bc they were too busy and they ended up having to hire out a separate company to drive our stuff down. They then left one of out boxes with a coworker (thankfully not a stranger, 15 of us were relocated and all used the same moving company). I called and called and asked for a refund or a discount and got nothing. They gave a coworker $500 back and when I called and literally put him on the phone they said they didn't know what he was talking about. Soooo frustrating. The best you can do is report then to BBB and put lots of bad reviews online.
Also, our hospital has a ton of birth balls. We had 12 in our classroom at the birth class and I can't imagine they would take every single one out of L&D.
This would be something good to ask about, our nurse at the L&D class was talking about them a lot, and I asked if they have them or we need to bring them. She said she has one that is contraband in her locker, but generally it is best to bring them! So, I guess for some reason the hospital here doesn't want them to provide them (liability?) but allows them to be used.
I agree. Definitely something to call and ask about before investing in one. Even if it's only $10!

BP was good- 126/86 and my blood work came back good! So yay! He did the GBS test but said he'd wait for my doctor to decide when to do my first cervical check. I have my 36 week apt next Tuesday with my dr, so we shall see.

Our hospital said they have birthing balls but that they're flat and they provide you with a bike pump. They are a pita to pump up and even if your partner is doing it they will be exhausted at the end. I don't know if other hospitals do the same thing but if you're not planning on bringing your own you may want to check what they provide.
Well, I've gotten our front and back porches clean today and I made a baked pumpkin oatmeal to add to the freezer stash. I did some homemade "egg mcmuffins" yesterday for the freezer too, so now we have a few breakfasts in there. I feel like I need to make an inventory of what's in the freezer so we remember and make it easier to pick what we want! I do need to get some cans of broth for some of the crock pot dishes...not sure why I didn't just get those with all the other ingredients.
Had my 36 week appointment today. First cervical check. Horribly uncomfortable now after it and strep b test.
Found out I randomly gained 6 lbs in two weeks. Considering to this point I had gained 9 total the entire pregnancy there was a little concern. But my bp and everything are fine. Not protein in urine. So no other signs of pre eclampsia. Just a little worried now on my part. But I have been swelling in my legs a lot so doc thinks it's just normal water retention.
I'm also exhausted. Didn't sleep well and woke up early bco was nervous about the appointment. Scared to death atm about labor and delivery and all this crap. No real reason to be, just anxiety attacks left and right gotta get it together.
esgrunner can you share your breakfast recipes? The pumpkin oatmeal sounds delicious! I kind of forgot about breakfast in my freezer meal prep. I do have some spinach egg mini quiches and strawberry oatmeal muffins for DD, but nothing for me and DH.
Today, I was actually too busy to justify going in to work. Getting work done at home, while also cleaning house and preparing for our pull-the-bandaid-off-quick potty training day tomorrow. Oh, and my in-laws are coming Saturday, my baby shower is Sunday, and my husband is still spending all his time working on the basement, we need to buy a car, and we've STILL done basically nothing to prepare for this baby. outstanding.
Guh. All these early babies have me a little freaked out. My EDD isn't until 8/23, but I really, really want to make it at least to 39 weeks for a very selfish reason. My parents are coming up on 8/9 and I can't wait. Can't say this enough--my mom is the best. I wish I could bottle her up and share her with people who have no so great moms. My mom has told me that once she gets here, I will be doing no more housework and she wants to take care of everything. She knows better than anyone else alive how to make me feel taken care of--and I REALLY need to feel a little taken care of right now. I really want someone to tell me to just put my feet up and rest, make me a yummy, healthy dinner, and then keep me company. I want to have that for at least a week before this baby is born.
OK Rant over. Going up to the attic to pull out baby stuff.
PS; And just stress-ate a bunch of double stuff oreos. That's some excellent self care, right there.

Here's the pumpkin oatmeal recipe, both DH and I really like it. To serve it, I also like to add plain Greek yogurt, nuts, dried cranberries, whatever we have around. I do follow the suggestion to put yogurt in with the milk when whisking everything together.
I may make up a double batch of this steel cut oatmeal in the crock pot to freeze also. Instead of the dried cranberries and figs, I like to add a couple of cut up apples and some cinnamon! It smells so good to wake up to!
For the egg sandwiches, I just toast an English muffin, then put on a cooked egg (baking a bunch at once in the oven in muffin tins works perfectly, size wise), a piece of bacon and a piece of cheese. I cook the bacon ahead of time on the Foreman grill, which drains off a ton of fat and makes it "healthy" bacon! Then, just microwave it when you take it out of the freezer.
tmclawchick, keep us updated! @divinesmbee, what are their excuses for being so far behind??? I'm so angry for you!
Appt went well, cervix is still very high and closed. I'm only 35+5 so I'm okay with that. What I am not okay is the 6 pounds (YES, 6 FUCKING POUNDS) I am up since my appt two weeks ago. This doesn't even make sense! Especially since I weighed myself at home two days ago and I wasn't up at all. WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK?! I almost cried. The dr. didn't mention it, so she must not be too concerned. Could bad sleep contribute to this, because I slept pretty horribly last night? I eat really well for most of the day, with lot's of lean protein, veggies, and fruit, and then I convince myself I really do need that ice cream or those chips! It's going to be real tough to kick that habit after I give birth. At least I have been keeping up with working out, otherwise I may have gained 75 pounds this pregnancy.
With the heat, very well may be water weight. I gained a ton at the very end of my last pregnancy (also late August) and it freaked me out too. My midwife asked me "well, have you been eating enough to gain this much weight" and, no, I was eating more or less like I'd been eating my whole pregnancy. "Then it's probably just water weight. Don't worry about it."
Sure enough, after the baby was born, it came off super quickly.
Good for you keeping up on working out. You know the stuff you need to do--eat the good stuff, stay active. Just do those things and don't worry about the rest.
Thanks everyone for your thoughts! They worked because baby girl went back up to the 22nd percentile so no induction for me! I have been having contractions on and off all day and had another membrane sweep today so maybe I'll go into labour on my own at some point but it's looking like baby girl is pretty comfy in there!
Now to just enjoy my last few weeks of being alone!
I'm kind of surprised to see all of these cervical checks! I will be 38 weeks on Saturday and have not had one, with no signs that they intend on doing any. Is there anyone else that doesn't think their midwife/OB will be doing them? I can certainly ask at the next one if that is just something they don't do, I just hadn't thought of it before.

And the oatmeal freezes ok? Do you freeze in individual servings?

I gained 7 lbs this past week somehow. I'm pissed. My OB wasn't concerned about it either, but I'm still pissed. My weight is still (barely) within the recommended guidelines though, and I've been at the same weight for the past month, so I guess I'm just catching up? Ugh.
esgrunner, my checks started at 36 weeks, but she always asks if I want one first. I say yes, bc I'm such a Type A person, I have to know EVERYTHING that's going on.
Speaking of which, I'm 80% effaced and starting to dilate, woooooo! OB said I probably won't go into labor next week though, sorry DH. Lol.
esgrunner, My small town doc does checks at 36 and 38 weeks then every week after. Its so everyone has an idea of what type of progression is going on. It also helps him keep FTMs (me) calm as the L&D at our hospital sucks at checks. They told me I was a 1 and 30% when doc has told me same day that I was a 4 and 50%.

My MW said that I could be checked at my 39 week appointment if I would like. I'm not sure if I will. On the one hand I think it might just mess with my head too much....but on the other hand, curiosity might get the best of me!
noname, with the pumpkin recipe, I just put the whole dish in the freezer (did it in a foil throwaway pan this time) and for the steel cut, I've done it both ways, as individual servings or in a larger, casserole-kind of dish. Adding yogurt to the pumpkin one gives it back a little moisture and I would add a splash of milk to the steel cut when thawing out to do the same.
I can't wait to go home in September and ride the new coaster. And of course the oldies too. I miss kneobels that was my park. We'd go once a week.
I think we're secret BFFs.
I really think we are. I've lived within half an hour of kneobels my whole life. Here in tx I don't even know what to do in the summers. We used to go just to get ice cream at the mill or Alamo fries.
