How are the girls doing?

Willa is a toddler. I'm seeing visions of the emotional roller coaster we will be going through when she is a teenager. I love my child to pieces but I just don't understand how simple things can set off the tears. I know this is not unique at all wow are the 2's fun.

Willa's eating and weight gain as improved. We are getting her to start eating more real foods and foods that don't contain cheese. I almost feel like we can dump feeding therapy. I was super excited she weighed 26.2 pounds at her last weight check until my husband told me she was fully clothed. We put her on the scale at home and she was 25.6 pounds. Using the toilet consistently to go pee and shitting in her undies. I need to make a Walmart run this weekend to buy more because those things are getting cut off they are so unsalvageable.

Addie is such a chill baby. Zero feeding issues. Zero temperament issues (very similar to Willa at that age). Hmmm, I said zero feeding issues but that isn't fully the case. This kid wants to nurse every few hours at night. Willa was well into STTN at this age because she never wanted to eat. Addie is the opposite as she wants the boob all the time. I want sleep!

I play candy crush at night because my mind can stay asleep. I'll try to check out posting during MOTN instead. Do you do a nightly spam?

So, H is texting me from the train about this crazy dude that is sitting a row up from him. I got worried (thinking France train thing) and he was like, no--he's laughing to himself and acting messed up. I asked for pictures:

Yes, MIL is reusing paper plates. It's so gross. I tossed her plate whenever I saw one in the fridge. I have a huge stack of them and I'm not understanding why she's re-using or using paper plates at all. DH and I use real plates daily for all our meals and snacks, so the dishwasher would be running anyway.

When we went to MIL's place for Christmas a few years ago. On Christmas morning, she served some microwave food on paper plate, then she turned our (mine, DH's and BIL's) plates over to write our initials on the back and tried to put them in the fridge to keep them fresh for later use. I threw up a bit in my mouth and told DH we needed to go to the supermarket to buy her 2 stacks of paper plates, cos no way in hell I would be reusing paperware. DH talked to MIL about the plates. By dinner time, she was apparently really offended by my comments and insistent that we all use new plates. She was like, here's your new plate, tried to throw the plate onto the table (but it didn't have weight to make a sound). Apparently I was the only one that got a new plate that night.

Needless to say, I never went back to her house ever again after that experience. Those of you been around long enough might remember I'm a bit OCD. Heck, I even wore gloves when I changed LO for the first few weeks. Thankfully she'll be leaving tomorrow afternoon.

Yesterday MIL told DH that we should send LO to her house for summer vacations when he's a bit older.

Yeah, right. Over my dead body.

I'd personally go with the family one; it is more special. I used one that I wore, my dad wore, and his dad wore. So yeah, it has some stains and little flaws but it meant a lot to me. Maybe your H has a family one that you would like better style wise?? If not you can look at a Christian store if you have any near you.

Hopefully she figures out all the potty stuff soon. That's great that Willa is eating now.

I hear you on sleep. I'm still up at least twice a night for 30 to 60 minutes at a time. I spam in the Parenting drinking thread at night and catch up on threads here. It helps keep me awake while DS nurses. I'm so busy trying to stay afloat at work that I don't post much then.

Sounds similar to my sisters MIL. She washes out paper towels and dries them for more use. She also cooks everything then freezes it. My sister said the first time she went over to her house she thought all the food tasted funny...the next morning she saw her taking bacon and scrambled eggs out of the freezer-all already cooked. She grew up in an orphanage, which is what my she attributes some of her crazy behavior to. Btw her in laws are very well off.

The paper plate business is gross. Did she grow up needing to pinch pennies or something?

PikoPiko We often use paper plates at home if we have them and don't feel like doing dishes. We're using a lot now because our dishwasher is broken. But I would never reuse one. That is gross!

mrsclark731 - quite the contrary. Every time I've met her, she'd tell me how impressed she is with my cooking and baking skills - that is always used as a lead-in to her stories of her childhood. She brags about how wealthy her family was growing up, she had maids and never had to do chores. She goes to a salon daily to set her hair and would boss a maid to bring her her meals. Her mother buys the most expensive ingredients and all their meals were prepared by their chef.

DH grew up in a paper plate using family so until we moved in together he was more likely to use disposable plates/napkins than not. But never reuse! Oh PikoPiko the story of her labeling each person's plate is too much!!
mrsclark731 I like bounty paper towels because I can rinse, wring, and reuse in a single cleaning session. But I have a block about using paper towels when a cloth napkin will do.

Sometimes we use paper plates for quick dinners and don't want to deal with dishes. Usually it's nights when we get pizza. I have never heard of people using the same paper plate throughout the day. Does she do this to get attention or a rise out of people?!?!


My parents are trying to fly home from Hawaii and of course someone called in a threat to their plane. Ugh. They checked the plane for over 3+ hours and searched through everyone's carry on bags. I'm going to be worried sick all night til they land. 10 pm could not come any faster.

I'm sad. DH told me the optometrist said DS already has astigmatism and near sightedness. Bad genes from me. He needs glasses, but he's too young now, so he'll get them next year.
