kateisoptimistic, that is ridiculous. Do you HAVE to see this doctor/clinic? I would go somewhere else. ACOG, I'm pretty sure, recommends that you be seen for the first time at 6-8 weeks (8 is typical).
+1. With a loss history you shouldn't be waiting for a standard appointment.

@led you are not being a downer and I'm sorry if I was out of line. I was trying to be positive for you. I understand that sometimes that is not what you need to hear. I truly can not imagine being in your shoes right now or what it must be like to have your loss history. I understand we all approach pgal brain differently with how we go about finding reassurance.

teraiin, I really want some mozzarella sticks now!
@led, I'm glad your number is going up and still have everything crossed for you. It's great the new place was able to get you in so quickly because fuck that other place.

So my doctor told me that I am in limbo for now because she likes to see hCG around 8,000 for where I am. I go back tomorrow for blood work so she can make sure it goes up as it should. She said the sac was measuring about right according to how far along I told her I am. She wanted the ultrasound to rule out ectopic pregnancy before supplementing progesterone. I will have another ultrasound in 10 days to make sure it's progressing.
I'm sorry, @led. I hope your next beta is outstanding. I am shocked your OBs office isn't more proactive.
As of right now I'll have to wait until Tuesday or after to even get another beta since my now previous OB office decided it wasn't necessary and closed my standing order and wouldn't reorder it even after I called and complained.
I'm just counting myself lucky that the only intake appointments open at this clinic were the 22nd of this month and the 20th of next month. And since they wanted to get me in before 8 weeks for the intake paperwork I got the super early one. So I'm happy with that. Hopefully they'll be more understanding.
I'm finally starting to calm down some and not freaking out quite as much as when I found out. Hopefully I can finally get some rest soon.

8K at 5 weeks?! That seems absurd, but I'm glad she's monitoring you and it's not ectopic.

ETA: I just looked, and average at 6w is 8k.
Is he using a different measurement than mIU/ml? This could be a miscommunication based on confusion about your conception date, but if you measured according to your dates, why wouldn't they use those dates for the HCG levels? I used this chart when I was getting my beta results but mrssqueegy had a good one, too. www.babymed.com/is-my-hcg-blood-level-normal

That might have been what she was basing it on. I'm glad that the sac is measuring about what it should. I'll hear back on Monday my numbers from tomorrow so hopefully that will make me feel better.
Also you deserve some rest! Seriously the stress that office is causing you is not ok at all.

According to that chart my level is definitely low. I've seen several different charts and the numbers vary widely.

I just looked at my patient portal and the note says threatened miscarriage. That was not fun to read.
It'll say that until your dates are confirmed, if you have any spotting at all, if something isn't exactly textbook for what it should look like based on LMP. Don't let it get you down. So far from what you've said, you shouldn't be worried. But I've got everything crossed for you anyways.

+1 to all of this. I'm so sorry you're in this limbo. The fact that you really have no control over what happens from here is infuriating and bewildering, but all you can do is take a deep breaths and remember that today you are pregnant and love our baby. I hope you have a relaxing weekend ahead of you. Is there something you can do to treat yourself? Movie marathon? Pedicure?

Thank you! It's crazy I thought after all the stress with TTC when it actually happened it would be smooth sailing but of course it isn't.

I definitely plan to relax and try not to stress. A pedicure sounds really good now that you mention it!

So this morning I was 20 minutes late for work because I went down a rabbit hole trying to take my first weekly countdown photo. I found just about the only blank wall in the house, set my camera up on a bunch of boxes, set the timer and... took about 25 pictures. All of them were awkward. I think I'm giving up on the timer and having my husband help me take them on Saturdays, even though my ticker changes on Fridays. Has anyone else started these? What is your game plan?

I am bigger to start with but I plan on taking a starting picture and then probably again at 12 weeks. I'd like to do the weekly photos but I have a feeling I will not show for quite a while. Maybe I will do one a month until I really start to show.

Yeah, I think I will only do every 2 weeks in the first trimester since there won't be much happening. This is my first photo at 6 weeks - I wanted to pose with the test and have the "before" shot in before I start to gain weight!
shadesofgold, I had DH take my weekly pics. We did it on Saturdays (or sometimes Sundays) because it's what worked for us. At the end of the day, you'll never notice a difference.
We started at 12 weeks. We did not take one at 41 weeks, or on 41w10days before we went to be induced, that's the only part I would have changed.
DH was terrible at taking them from the same distance, angle, and zoom level. I wish we had something where it was more precise and we could flip through, but it is what it is and I'm glad we have them.
Also, we held up the "fruit" size that baby equated to for each picture, which was fun. It was not fun trying to find out of season mangos, a durian, a winter melon, or a jack fruit. So 40 week photo had nothing.

I've seen a lot of these on Pinterest and they look good. I have a feeling any pic I take will end up looking awkward. I like the idea of posing with a test!

I feel like I have been so busy with school work that I hadn't even thought about taking photos. I really like the idea though, but I agree at first I don't think I would want to take them every week.
Me: 30 DH: 29; Married: September, 2010 TTC #1: April 2013 Benched: May 2013 Cancer(DH) Off the Bench: September 2014 July 2015 ER low sperm count and motility(radiation side effect). FET September 1,2015. BFP 9/9/15.- 3 on the way.

I definitely went to Pinterest for inspiration! At first I thought about following the style of having the same outfit (like a black stretchy dress) in every photo, but ultimately decided to use just my regular at-the-moment clothes. I think it will be fun to follow the seasons through the clothes. Plus, if you do the same tight dress, the focus is really on your body more than anything... and that makes me feels sort of uncomfortable.
k3am, I think I am going to have MH start taking them because 1) I don't have a tripod, and 2) I have such a weird fake smile happening with the timer photos. I usually do okay in photos - I am hoping having a person take them from the right height will do the trick. Then again, getting a consistent angle might be a challenge. I am going to have to set some parameters.

I will probably end up in yoga pants because that's usually what I'm wearing when I'm at home. I think it would be cool to look back on one day and then compare to future pregnancies!
shadesofgold, I would definitely do them in something more flattering than gym shorts and a tank top.. I didn't really think that one through. But they fit through the whole pregnancy and were comfy at least?

Yeah I tend to like to be comfortable in my pajamas once I am home so it would have to be done on like Saturday right before or after running errands.

LED- I hate that they are treating you like it's not your body. I hope that this new office gets with the program.
I go for beta's again tomorrow, and then on Monday. The nurse said that when it reaches 1,000 they will have me come in for an ultrasound. I really want an ultrasound, but her office is an hour away in the city, and they won't see much this soon. I am hoping that she will just have me come back and do another on after for heartbeat reassurance. PGAL is a complete mindfk, I hate it.
@led, such BS about your previous OB. Glad you are getting in with a new one that will hopefully take your concerns seriously.
summerdonna, sorry you are in limbo right now. FX for an excellent appointment in a little over a week.
I too am nervous about transitioning DS out of the crib. I figure we will start a few months before baby is due, but I can use all the advice when that time comes.
As for bump pictures I always took mine of myself in the mirror, facing the same direction in pretty much the same pose. Turned out pretty well, and its fun to look back at.
We are getting ready to go camping this weekend with friends. We rented a pop-up camper and I'm really looking forward to it! I haven't been camping in quite some time.
