Prilosec worked for me when zantac didn't. My bff has really bad reflux because she is pregnant with twins and would take zantac 3x a day.
My OB was adamant that Prilosec is a no during pregnancy (I had already taken a 32 day supply when she told me). She said Zantac or Pepcid. Prilosec was working better than Zantac, but after she shut that down, I haven't yet tried the Pepcid.
Guise, the heartburn is absolute hell this pregnancy. I had really bad heartburn with DS, but I don't think it was this early. And I was able to control it with Zantac then switched to Pepcid. FWIW, DS was born with a full head of hair and never lost it. This kid is going to be a... whatever a really hairy animal is. I basically take three bites of ANYTHING or a sip of ANYTHING and feel extremely full and the reflux starts right away. I was finally past the morning sickness, and now I'm puking because of heartburn. Zantac isn't working. I'm popping Tums and drinking milk like it's my favorite thing in the world.
Anyone have any unusual tips? I can't go 18 more weeks like this.
I'm sorry I don't have any advice because I have been battling it this time too. My weight gain this go around is very low because I was so sick from m/s then reflux started and I have to make myself eat small meals throughout the day. I sleep sitting up. I wake up with t. I take tums before every meal (which does help). I found the Pepcid and Zantac to be ineffective so I stopped. No sense in taking something that doesn't work.

The Zantac helps me, but it takes a while to kick in, and doesn't last all day. I just read the bottle and it says it can be taken twice a day. I thought it was just once. So I'm going to start taking it twice a day and hopefully that'll make a difference.

Huh, my OB had no issues with it. Maybe there's been new research..

I swear with DS1 I was switched to Prilosec by the OB when the Zantac stopped working. Maybe it was Pepcid but I'm really positive it was Prilosec. Maybe like you said, new research.

Quoting myself to say I just checked the Ovia app and Zantac and Pepcid are both Cat. B, while Prilosec is Cat. C and not recommended while pregnant.

Huh. I wonder if it changed since DS. I would've been miserable without and everything turned out fine...
Yesterday was a very unexpected Mother's Day. I poas and it was positive! I have short cycles, so I'm not even technically 4 weeks until tomorrow, but I was 3 days late when I took the test. I'm excited and shocked and nervous all at the same time! My first thought was of B and how this is going to dramatically change her life, but I know everything will be fine.
We aren't planning on sharing the news (DH told his sister) with anyone until after our first appt at 8 weeks. But, I need to tell someone! So I'm sharing with you ladies because I know you'll be supportive no matter what happens (my first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage).
