Mine has outgrown her rnp and now refuses to sleep in her pnp, in her crib, or even on our bed while I'm wide awake watching her haha. It's just comical at this point how shitty sleep has been for as long as I can remember. She used to be amazing at it. She will only sleep for any real length of time on top of me. I am not a very big person so her 100 percentile height and 17 pound body kills me. She'll sleep on DH too but he pees at least once at night so that doesn't help. I'm truly lost. I do not know what to do. She HAS to sleep in her crib eventually.
She might be too big and not sure if she's rolling over, but I placed the napper from his PnP inside of it on the "mattress" in order to transition him from being snug in the RnP to a more wide open space. He slept in that for a few weeks until we put him in the PnP directly, and then started the crib about a month ago.
One of the things that I think helped the crib transition was that he has been sleeping in bed with us for the second half of each night for about 2 months; sometimes he has to be held, sometimes he'll lay separate from me, which acclimated him to sleeping on a mattress (this is not necessarily a method I would recommend, but since you said she sleeps in bed with you, I thought it was worth mentioning). We also learned from his naps at daycare that he prefers to sleep on his side; once we stopped swaddling and did that, he slept better in both the PnP and crib.
If she needs to be "on you", you could try holding her while laying on your side. I do that with V sometimes when he won't settle on his own, and won't let me put him down. I put one arm under his head/neck and around his back, and the other over his butt and tuck it under his side. Usually I hold him upright like that to settle him, and then lay down while holding him. It might be worth a try.
I'm sorry, that phase of needing to be held is one of the worst, and I can totally commiserate on sleepless nights. I hope things get better for you soon!
I appreciate it! Yeah she's too tall for the little baby stuff now, she's between 27 and 28 inches long. If we had a firmer bed I'd be more comfortable but it's a memory foam so I don't trust it - she's allllll about belly sleeping and i hate it. I usually only let her sleep on it if I'm awake. I don't think she's ever going to sleep in her pnp because I put her in there when I'm getting ready for work in the morning and she just plays. She doesn't associate it with sleep. Even if I put her in there when she's already asleep, it's like she knows. She's up in minutes. I never bought a glider for the nursery because I knew she wouldn't be sleeping in there for awhile. Well time blew by and I think if I can nurse her to sleep in a chair and have the crib right there, I may be able to get her to sleep in her crib....eventually haha.
Yeah, our one night of seven hours was a fluke. She got up at 2:30 to nurse and I'm pretty sure she never went back to seep, although she was quiet from 3-4. I'm up nursing again to try to get her to sleep since H is useless without a swing in getting her back to sleep. Seriously, lying in bed and rocking her rock n play is not going to cut it.
I swear this kid wakes up just to hang out. Last night she slept from 6:30-10pm then was howling up a storm. When I went in to get her, she just grinned and started talking away. She went back to sleep quickly but then was up again at 2:00 and 4:30 for H. Every time, she eats a couple ounces in her crib and then passes out. I know they say babies don't need to eat overnight at this age but maybe since she's so small she does? Her cry def sounds hungry most of the time. Ugh I don't know...poor H is getting so tired from getting up with her all he time that Thurs night he slept right through one of her wake ups...didn't even hear it!

budders that's happened here too and I told myself I'd never stay up late again! Seriously if I'm up past 9 there better be a damn good reason. I can tell my friends don't really get it. But it might be the only time in the night I get more than 2 hours consecutive sleep!!
We were up at 10:30, 1:30, and 5:30 before finally getting up at 7 today. Thankfully I was in bed around 8 so I feel pretty good.
We have been doing pretty good...a few nights of 8 hour stretches which is awesome. Other nights just one wake up this week. Soooo I think it's time to move him out of the Rock and play. Operation crib transition begins tonight! Wish me luck.
Good luck! It was no big deal for us, around 3 months. But I know some babies really struggle! Are you going to put anything under the mattress or anything?
T was super fussy last night but we did manage to squeeze in one decent stretch from 1:30 until 5:30!!! So that was super exciting. Especially since he slept after that feeding for once so I got in a couple hours before getting ready for work.
stcyct, we are thinking of transitioning soon too, let us know how it goes!
eta @poppyc8, hope you win the heater wars! Because, let's be honest, what you need (aka what baby needs to sleep) trumps the husband. Every time.

Glad you were able to get at least one decent stretch.
Heater wars is on. I turned the heat up without DH noticing and LO slept a good first stretch from 8-12:30. She also was so easy to get down.
She still was fussy from 12:30 on and hard to get in the crib so I gave up and she slept in RNP from 2-530. DH woke up at 5 grumbling that he can't sleep like this.
Our home was built in 1964 and it has ZERO insulation. Even the electrical sockets have cold air coming out of them!
since we are selling our house and we want it staged our realtor said we need to live in temporary housing. We might just airbnb a condo in our area. something solidly built that can be cozy and not have to constantly be heating this cold house

Before today the longest Oscar has ever stayed awake was like 3 hours. Maybe 4 hours, once? Kid loves to nap.
Well, he had a 3 hour nap from 8:30 - 11:30am this morning. And then he was up until 2pm when my parents took him. Well, we met back up at 6pm and he still hadn't napped (a 20 minute car nap, but that's like nothing)! So he was up like 7 hours
He fell asleep on the way home at 6:30 and stayed asleep through being put in his crib and swaddled. What will tonight bring? I can't even begin to guess.
carolyngrace wow he must have been exhausted! I think around 6 months some babies drop to 2 naps a day and there awake time can lengthen. But that sounds like a lot.

Yeah I think he's definitely going towards two naps, especially if one is long. I'm sad about that!
budders, so happy for you! Also once my LO starting going longer it just kept going and going. So it started to get better really fast once we turned the corner. Fingers and toes are crossed for you!
8:30-4:30 and up for the day at 6:30. I'm amazed that he slept so well, especially considering that his hands were ice cold when he woke up at 4:30. I don't really know why; it's usually in the mid 70s in our house and the fan was off. He's been wearing cotton sleepers up until this point because it's still warm in Texas, but I'm switching him to fleece tonight to see if it helps. What else do you do for cold hands?
She's up again, two hours after going to sleep. We can't even get a good long stretch anymore! this is the 10th time I've nursed her today and that includes a three hour car ride (which she slept through). My boobs need her to sleep!

Woah I think we're done with the swaddle!!!!!!!
Last night Oscar slept from 6-12-5 and is still asleep. If he would have been up for the day that would've been fine, but he usually sleeps an hour or so after his morning feeding.

M has seem to have developed a horribly consistent routine usually involving screaming by 5 am. Down by 7, up at 12:45 for a bottle, sleeps til 4:15. I give him his pacifier at 4:15 but then he only sleeps for 30 more min. Bottle at 4:45, and he'll sometimes sleep for 30-60 minutes, sometimes not. Usually start screaming at 5 am. NOTHING seems to be working. I can't have 4 am wakeups everyday. I don't know what to do. Feed him or not feed him, to get him to sleep a little better in the early morning, at least 5 or 5:30. The swing doesn't work anymore Laying in bed with him works only sometimes. Moving bedtime from 7 to 7:30 had no effect. I feel like we had to put CIO on pause because of mega teething and belly rolling. HALP?!

Instead of pacifier at 415 can you go ahead and give the bottle first? Then if he isn't upset or screaming I would just let him chill in the crib w lights out and no eye contact from you. then once he starts fussing I would do your usual steps to put him back to sleep. It sounds like this is something he will grow out of. In my experience the first wake up is the one they drop. So eventually he will stop waking at 1245 for a bottle and he'll push that later and later. The 4am or 5am wake up was the hardest one to kick for DS but eventually he grew out of it.

I sure hope it's something he'll grow out of in a few weeks. I was assuming I'd have to CIO to drop the 12:45 feed. Or make him wait half hour longer each night until the time is pushed up. I've read CIO in the morning is highly unlikely to go over because it's the lightest phase of sleep.
same thing as budders said, at 4:30, I don't have any more 'usual steps'. It's either swing or in bed with me, pacifier, and sshing. This child hates to be held and rocked.
Still working O back to the crib. He's been ridiculously fussy the last couple days and won't let me put him down. I'm pretty sure I saw a tooth bud this evening but he kept licking me when I tried to check again. I gave him tylenol before bed. I'm hoping to get a better night tonight. We're at 10 days of waking up every 3 hours. I know it could be much worse and just keep telling myself so.
We've been up every 2.5 hrs. He woke up this past time screaming and congested. I put his swing in a more upright position and gave him more tylenol. Work is going to suck.
